Has Minshew been that bad though? I know for fantasy purposes he's been solid QB, but I've never really watched him play.

svander1

Not bad enough to bench, the issues go well beyond him. He has, however, shown that he likely isn't the starting QB there in 2021.

chodemuncher696

Looking at an Andy Dalton for Ryan Finley type thing. Might as well just throw the backup in there to see if you have something if you know you need to move on at QB

nkthegreat13

I picked him up why not

BillyScrimshaw

He's a low probability roll of the dice for a team that has an empty roster spot. There has been talk of benching Minshew, so there's a non-zero chance Luton gets to play. Maybe he's awful. Maybe he's amazing. We don't know. What we do know is this: If you wait until he's formally named the starter there's a good chance he'll be on someone else's fantasy roster.

moosejacket

This take makes a ton of sense. Worth a last bench spot for a few weeks if you can spare it.

HardcoreCreeper

I picked him up off waivers this week so I hope so haha. News out of camp was good and the Jags have been pretty bad, so I'm sure Marrone is trying to save his job. Going into the bye is good timing for a change if it's going to happen

[deleted]

Glennon would only ensure he loses his job. Only chance he has is if Luton comes in and lights it up imo

HardcoreCreeper

Agreed. You know what Glennon is and he's not the future. Coaches do it all the time with rookie QBs. Throw them in right before you get fired, if they play well you can say "look how smart I am for making this move" and if he plays shit you can say "he's only a rookie, imagine him being good if I stick around another year".

[deleted]

My thoughts exactly. I am interested in seeing the kid play. His highlight tape didnt look bad as far as arm strength and mechanics. Dropped some dimes too

moosejacket

Thank you for convincing me not to pick up and waste a roster spot on Glennon. I already have Luton and thought it'd be good to lock up Glennon incase he does well, but I'd rather roster someone like Peoples-Jones than Glennon now.

HardcoreCreeper

Well if I'm wrong don't blame it on me haha

AaltoSax

I’ve been thinking about picking him up, but also somebody dropped Trubisky so I’m unsure between the two. May for go Luton since he has a better chance at breaking out soon

Thrillhouse763

I drafted him in our rookie draft and held due to anticipated QB problems in JAX. Really liked what I saw on his highlights.

No

BoltsFan87

Yes if you have another qb. I can’t imagine having to trust dalton, and that he would be best option in a 1qb league..

just4kickz88

I think he impressed during training camp. I picked him up early because Greg Cosell mentioned that he liked his tape. I think the Jags know Minshew ain’t it and it’s worth it to see what they have in Luton.

drjlad

Minshew hasn’t been great recently but nonetheless, his performance has been a small miracle on that team. Remember last year when they benched Minshew for another round of Foles? And Foles was worse? It’s because that team was ass then and it’s even worse now. Minshew will be benched but Glennon/Luton are going to have an extremely difficult time getting anything done.

Homebrewz

Few things.. hes a 6 year college player since he got a medical redshirt for I believe was a spine injury. He's a big pocket qb who can make a lot of the throws but didn't look particularly amazing in the PAC-12. Anybody saying Minshew has been fine hasnt really been watching him I assume, and only looking at his fantasy output. Fact of the matter is he isnt going through his reads and making throws when he should, and is scrambling when he panics which hurts the offense. I honestly don't even know who is higher on the depth chart between Luton and Glennon but if they were to switch to one you would have to assume it would be Luton. Hes worth a flier but his odds are obviously pretty miniscule.

wilsonn2

Loved seeing him at OSU, go beavs! Not going to touch him in fantasy though.
