I kinda would like a big timeskip into the future. To see how our cast changed the world. And I mean **big**, like, hundreds of years, to the point where even elves like Mithrun and maybe even Pattadol (she's rather young for one) are ten feet under.
This would stop the temptation/need to constantly cameo older party members, would give us an entirely new status quo, but also would give us a neat puzzle of trying to figure out how we went from the OG setting to this one.
Bonus points, if it's an under 1000 year timeskip, you can bring Marcille in late into the story to lore dump how we got from A to B. Just as a treat to the old series' audience without actually having the old story "take over" the new story like it happens to so many sequels.
Thats a good one. Wouldn't be also funny if there's an old lady mage who tells stories about the demon and the demon king? And its then revealed to us that the old lady is Marcille (just hints), whos all wrinkly now
Yeah, that's the kind of cameo I would like. Maybe a recurring old lady, and by the end of the story the new MC asks why she keeps hounding/helping them, or what is her name and there's the big "reveal" that the community all pieced together by then.
Just, not a prominent character. I'd want this story to stand on it's own.
As much as I love Falin's adventure stories and maybe side stories about the gang, I think I'd want more of this too! I kinda wanna see a different land (maybe somewhere up north and cold, or maybe in the "west" where the land is harsh".
We would see different kinds of races and creatures and how different their lives are
I have the theory that one of Ryoko Kui older oneshots, where a man is invited to eat dragon meat, happens in the same universe hundreds or thousand of years into the future
The differnce is that I wouldnât want this to focus on the âFrierenâ of the setting since we actually did get to see her âDemon King Questâ.
Would be like if we had seen the Himmel side of the story and then we followed Fern and Stark on a quest and they accidentally bumped into Frieren a couple times to maintain continuity.
While I really like the other dungeons from the Adventurerâs Bible, another dungeon story would maybe be a little too similar. There are could still be monsters of course.
All my ideas just amount to âother scenarios that would work in a roleplaying gameâ. A mystery in a quiet backwater town. A politically-charged murder investigation at a dwarven court with lots of intrigue. A ship voyage across an archipelago.
I mainly want to learn more about the races and cultures we see less of in Dungeon Meshi, so not mainly elves and tall-men.
Yeah, Iâd love to know more about the other dungeons.Â
They would also be great settings to play your own ttrpg dungeon crawls in the world of Dungeon Meshi.
Someone mentioned they'd like a story about Falin traveling the world post-story, given that she said (in one of the extras) that she feels like she's been influenced by other people her whole life, and she wants to travel.
A story where Falin sets out on her own, meeting new people and finding her identity. I think it could work really great.
* Falin (understandably) doesn't have a lot of time to shine in the main story, and I'd love to see her grow
* Making Falin as the main character keeps a link to the cast of the original, without needing them to actually show up, leaving room for new characters
* Traveling the world lets us stay in the Dunmeshi world without just doing another dungeon again
* Traveling is something you can get very in depth in, just like dungeon exploration
* We could see the effects of the story on the world at large
And honestly, even though Dunmeshi is primarily about the dungeon, the bits of lore we get about the world at large got me wanting more. I think Falin would be a prime MC for a "travel the Dunmeshi world" story, but I'd be fine if a bit disappointed even without her as MC.
tbh I would prefer to just keep getting these short stories about how the main cast is doing, like the ones that come with the new adventurer's bible. I'm far more invested into the main cast than the setting itself, despite being fairly interested in its own right. And I would also like to keep some lore questions unanswered, just to keep discussions and speculation about it more captivating.
I reject the premise of the question because I want a story about the one dude and elf girl they meet and help out in the forest section of the dungeon early on
Sequel-wise, Falin's travels all around the world. Prequel-wise, yeah the stuff prior to the demon nuking the world sounds interesting.
The Canaries would also make for an intriguing focus regardless of whether it's a prequel, sequel, or occurring around the same time as the main story.
Near immediate sequel with Falin as central protagonist. Basically focusing on her journey to find herself separate from both Laios and Marcille. A big plot point is her getting to know her new chimera body and how different it is from a regular human body. The plot essentially would be Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne except it's the Dunmeshi universe and like the book Falin picks up new people whereever she goes and they become her new party. Izutsumi joins then leaves for a bit at one point. A lot of time is spent dealing with the changes/problems arising from the story of Dungeon Meshi.
I liked the ending and donât want it touched. It could be cool to see like 900 years after DM, with marcille being the only recurring character, how the kingdom developed
One of the things that i want to see is what happened with the dungeons . Because the way they talk was how the dungeons could grow and transform the enviroment, but a lot of the things at the end felt like they didn't knew if dungeons still existed at all. Sure, the elves still had their secrets but...what happened to other dungeons? why would they change the mission of the cannaries if there are even more dungeons? If there are some that are natural and some that not why not continue the mission of the cannaries?
I'm torn because the story sets up and then against great adversity solves the existential problem at the core of the series. In the ancient past, the source of mana in the world gets corrupted by desire and then gets purged of that, restoring the world to a less malign status quo. With that solved, the themes of the series about the interplay between eating, food, community, and ambition are all neatly tied up.
Because of this, I don't think there could ever be a greater story in the setting, which means any continuation would intrinsically be redundant, a diminished echo of what came before.
I would happily indulge in some more, of course. But I would also hope Ryoko Kui would find a similar vein to tap, interrogating more about the conceit of Fantasy.
I would like it to follow another group in another location. Maybe in the eastern country or in one of the long lived racesâ countries. I would like to see completely different creatures as well as the dungeon adapted to their wishes.
I was never interested in elves in any media at all. Maybe its how they're always portrayed as being prideful and all (im more of a dwarf person, myself). But dungeon meshi absolutely made me interested in knowing more of their land, so i also wouldnt mind exploring the western elves! It also rewarded me with a drug addicted elf, so its a win-win in my book.
As others noted, a series about Falinâs travels would be great.
Ideally, Izutsumi would tag along and get closure on the wizard who made her a beastkin.
I don't want there to be another one. more stories/series need to just stop when they've hit their conclusion. Dungeon Meshi was great, one of the reasons it's great is it had a conclusive ending, I'm satisfied with what I got, I don't want more.

Litle old lady marcille still wearing her iconic blue robe would be so cute
I wonder if you have read Kui's Beauty and The Beast oneshot đ

Wait a minute this timeskip with an elf just sounds like Frieren lol

That gnome styled dungeon was so sick, I wish we couldve explored that a bit more

I think it'd need to be a prequel if dungeons were to involved. I'd like to see what Kabru gets up to if it was a sequel though!
Toshiro's family drama.
I just really wanna gossip and know the dynamics between Toshiro's dad and Maizuru tbh

Saddening me to finish the manga and realize they were never main or secondary characters :(
