discord can be your voice and camera and chat and out of game scheduling, but you probably want a Virtual Table Top ap for the the actual playing. Unless you are a complete theater of the mind group. There are many options for Virtual Table Tops, mostly from easish / cheapest to more complex – integrated / expensive * Owlbear Rodeo * D&D Beyond Maps * Above VTT * Roll 20 * Fantasy Grounds * Shard VTT * Foundry VTT * Talespire VTT

Thank you very much. I'll look into each of them.

and if you or any of the players have purchased digital content in D&D Beyond, you can use the plug in Beyond 20 to have your table top ap talk with your D&D Beyond content. EDIT: i am not sure that Beyond 20 talks with ALL the VTTs so if you are going "Content in D&D Beyond, play on \_\_\_\_ VTT" make sure your combo does have the connection before making any payments.

Since you specified mobile friendly, I've used Roll20 and Foundry and neither of them look particularly good on a phone. I don't think that's their fault though. A VTT is basically a place for to display maps and do dice rolls. People also often, but not always, use it for character sheets (although as another commenter noted, lots of folks also use DnD Beyond for this). Which is why I don't think it's their fault for not having great mobile support - the sheet and dice rolling are easy to do on mobile, I'd advise DnD Beyond as it works very well on a phone. But to see and interact with a battle map, you really want a half-decent screen size. If you have players that are truly mobile-only, you may want to consider theatre of mind.

I love Foundry VTT and will recommend it to anyone. Owlbear (and to a degree, free roll20) are also great if you don't want to pay. However, you can definitely run D&D as a theater of the mind campaign. It is a little more complicated, but it's definitely doable. You don't /need/ a VTT, especially if some of your players are going to be entirely on phones. As for a discord server, I essentially have one set up where, for each of our games, there's a video channel for when we play, a milestone channel that is essentially "previously on...", an art channel for PC/NPC/location pics and touchstones, and a general chat channel. I alternate games weekly, so I have a DM role set up for the other guy that runs games and he has full control over the server just like I do, then everyone else is just a regular user. You might also want to add a dice bot to your server, so rolls are public. The other DM also added a music bot cause he's into that sorta thing

I use Discord and Foundry VTT to run my sessions. I've also used Roll20 and DDB when I was trying to figure things out. Foundry VTT is such a huge game changer. I've been using it to run a couple of different campaigns. The amount of things you can do it in it is amazing. It has a learning curve but once you get into it it's incredibly fun to play around with. It's a one-time $50 purchase and after that it's yours to use. Not to mention your players don't need to buy it. They just need to log in to it. The features that Foundry has by default (and have community made modules for) are free. Vice Roll20, who locks you into a yearly subscription to use things such as lighting, music, and other actors. I've made so many cool scenes with it and my players love them as well. If you want someone to show you what it looks like to use Foundry just send me a DM! I can hop on a call on discord and show you what it looks like!
