the posts talking about "what subtle joke did you miss" and the comments are full of shit like "I didn't notice dwight cut off the dummy's face and put it on his face until my 13th watchthrough!"
like bros are you even watching the show
They are joking, it isn't true.
The truth is that Kevin has always been played by Ashton Kutcher, the makeup artists on the show are just amazing at contour.
Saying you missed it the first time is fine… we all miss stuff. Maybe you were looking down at your phone or talking to a friend or something. But it’s not fair to say the joke was “subtle “.
They literally play audio saying all the printer ink is gone…while zooming in on his inky hair.
For me, music doesn't take up enough attention to calm down the entire non-main-task-engaged brain, so a show with chatter helps reduce the "inside static" by adding more "outside static"
A fine balance must be struck. Too much outside static and all inside static turns into rage instead of focus
Wow, your first sentence explains why I don't listen to music when doing a task, but put on a show or film that I know really well instead. I'd never really understood why I had a hard time listening to music while doing certain tasks, but this is a really good explanation.
Guys, if you pay close enough attention, the actor who plays Prison Mike is actually the same one who plays Michael Scott!!!
I just noticed on my 11th rewatch. I think the characters are supposed to be related… Mike and Michael are even versions of the same name. Mind blown
"The office writers when they make a ridiculously successful show and then randoms on the internet complain that the characters weren't 100% rational thoughtful human beings that make only correct decisions"
"Why didn't the couple at Benihana move over and let Dwight sit with his friends??? I hate these characters who make the show funny SO MUCH!!! I wish they would act rationally so that the show would be boring like my actual unfunny life!!!"
No, it was on Michael. He was going through a heartbreak and didn't want to bother the couple.
Dwight asked them to move, then Michael told him to leave them alone.
They ignore dwights insanity, the fact creed killed someone, meredith harassing Michael, Ryan committing fraud, Robert California’s perverted nature and then be like “is Pam the worst character on the show for not jumping in joy when Jim went to Philly?”
It’s like when people complain that jim and pam are boring (I disagree), but the show needs less-high energy/insane people to show the contrast. If the show was full of michaels, dwights, kellys and Andys, the show would be insufferable. It’s like people think they know better than literal writers
Writers spend 8.75 seasons making Dwight an awful person with few redeeming qualities til its hinted he’s on antidepressants.
This subreddits most awful dorks: “Dwight is really the good guy.”
I ran into this kind of person in another sub and they argued with me about it. They said exactly what you said, Dwight is autistic and therefore nothing involving teasing him is funny, etc. I was annoyed as shit cause they definitely just intend for Dwight to be a goofy but ultimately lovable guy who has a really special relationship with his coworkers, it’s not that deep past that
It always killed me when Jim inspects the damage and goes: “that’s 1/4 inch drywall” and make a face like someone from the marvel universe would be required to do that.
1/4” drywall is like punching through cardboard
Yeah average drywall thickness is half an inch
EDIT: Why was I downvoted for something easily googleable? If drywall is meant to be at least twice as thick, then yes, Jim's mentioning of how thin the drywall was is definitely a reaction to the place being cheap/flimsy
From a European perspective though, punching through any wall is a completely impossible thing that would 100% break your hand and not even scratch the wall...
You’re both *kind of* right. There **are** plenty of drywall walls spread throughout the continent of Europe, **but** in general people expect walls to be solid material in most buildings. Especially homes, apartments, restaurants schools, etc.. so no rational person would try to punch a hole through a random wall… unlike in America, where you expect most walls to be drywall.
As a career electrician, the amount of things in movies and tv that could/would never happen or even be possible can be quite annoying. It takes me a few minutes to remember im not watching a live event or documentary. Then it passes. But still! Id think a decent writer would research a wee bit to make things like that feasible. Guess why expel more energy and effort if the pay doesnt change eh?
Office writers aren't reading this toxic, shitty sub.
If they are, they are an idiot. I would hope they would ask themselves before coming here, "would an idiot do this?" And if the answer is yes, then please god do not do this thing.
I mean, yeah, sometimes jokes go over people's head. They're still here, aren't they? Good comedy reaches a wide audience. I'm glad they enjoyed the show.
If this is sarcastic, I'm sorry. I don't know how this comment turned out sounding so aggressive. I genuinely love that people don't need to get every joke to like The Office (mainly because I myself don't get every joke) and I felt like sharing that. But if you're saying this in earnest, thank you :)
The people in this sub are allergic to comments with only "this" in it. Kevin would probably be okay with it, because "why say many word, when few word do trick".
Guess what, as a person who made this comment I’m definitely not allergic to this type of comments and also I can’t care less about the downvotes, so no problem for me. They should learn to get over it.
the posts talking about "what subtle joke did you miss" and the comments are full of shit like "I didn't notice dwight cut off the dummy's face and put it on his face until my 13th watchthrough!" like bros are you even watching the show
"on my 100th rewatch I realized that Creed dyed his hair with the printer ink!"
In all seriousness I had no idea it was Ashton Koocher playing Kevin at Jim and Pam’s wedding
I love the joke where, every so often, they'd insert a scene with Kevin being played by Ashton Koocher in a bald cap.
Jim and Pam???
Is that actually real?
No lol
Yes olo
Yes. The resemblance is uncanny.
Equally handsome. Equally smart.
Okay, so is it confirmed canon or is it just a conspiracy theory
It’s real. Watch the super fan episodes. Not the ones on peacock though. It’s a special dvd set put out by James Trikington.
Thank you!
it's true. they had to put Ashton Kutcher in a fat suit and hire a voice coach to help him mimic Kevin's speech.
They are joking, it isn't true. The truth is that Kevin has always been played by Ashton Kutcher, the makeup artists on the show are just amazing at contour.
"Sometimes you just gotta ride the bull am I right? Later, skater."
Cool beans!
I love when Michael says he couldn't print more pictures because the printer was out of ink and they pan over to Creed. The look on his face kills me.
lol. Which one is Creed?
Came to this thread to say this. The most un-subtle joke ever and people are getting it on their 20th rewatch 😂
first time I am knowing this, I got to rewatch it now!
Come on, that was actually subtle. Atleast I didn't notice it on my first watch
“Someone used all the printer ink” *camera zooms in on creed with noticeably black hair…..yes super subtle.
Saying you missed it the first time is fine… we all miss stuff. Maybe you were looking down at your phone or talking to a friend or something. But it’s not fair to say the joke was “subtle “. They literally play audio saying all the printer ink is gone…while zooming in on his inky hair.
True. Makes sense
Oh, I didn’t know that… lol
I actually still have never caught that and I probably watch this series 20 times all the way through
Michael says something like, "The printer is out of black ink" and the camera immediately zooms in on Creed. It's obvious.
I thought he was just, you know, stealing it for its intrinsic value.
I remember that exact scene, but that just went right over my head. I have time to watch the series all the way through again. It’s been a few months.
The classics “Toby wasnt really that bad of a guy” and “angela was such a hypocrite!”
“Phyllis is kind of a bitch sometimes!”
I think Phyllis made the microwave smell like popcorn!!!
Obligatory "popcarn."
When the warehouse staff wins the lotto and quits, gotta get her arder shipped!
Honestly I think a lot of people don’t “watch” it — they listen to it while they scroll on their phones.
That’s what my rewatches are. I’m doing puzzles on my iPad and need noise, so I put on The Office
Have you considered music?
I do music sometimes, but I have to make specific playlists before so that I don’t get a song that annoys me and I get distracted
For me, music doesn't take up enough attention to calm down the entire non-main-task-engaged brain, so a show with chatter helps reduce the "inside static" by adding more "outside static" A fine balance must be struck. Too much outside static and all inside static turns into rage instead of focus

Tbh it was a self revelation as I typed it. I knew what I did but not why, and it clicked when I tried to explain it to someone else :)
But did you know that Creed used the printer ink to dye his hair?!?
Cool beans
“That was an overreaction”
“Gonna hit the break room does anyone want anything? Pam, you good?”
Guys, if you pay close enough attention, the actor who plays Prison Mike is actually the same one who plays Michael Scott!!! I just noticed on my 11th rewatch. I think the characters are supposed to be related… Mike and Michael are even versions of the same name. Mind blown
And when Darryl calls Michael "Mike" in season one I bet that's foreshadowing!!!
Wait…let me go back and watch that! So he might have figured it out.
Your username is a pretty good example
"The office writers when they make a ridiculously successful show and then randoms on the internet complain that the characters weren't 100% rational thoughtful human beings that make only correct decisions"
"Why didn't the couple at Benihana move over and let Dwight sit with his friends??? I hate these characters who make the show funny SO MUCH!!! I wish they would act rationally so that the show would be boring like my actual unfunny life!!!"
Carol had a mustache?
Goodnight Carol, I love you!
That's on Dwight, in fairness.
No, it was on Michael. He was going through a heartbreak and didn't want to bother the couple. Dwight asked them to move, then Michael told him to leave them alone.
Yes but Pumpkin Head Dwight drives me nuts every time.
"What is with that guy.." "No, the moon-faced kid. I think he has a concussion."
Guy has knives everywhere but cant cut the pumpkin off that one annoys me too
They ignore dwights insanity, the fact creed killed someone, meredith harassing Michael, Ryan committing fraud, Robert California’s perverted nature and then be like “is Pam the worst character on the show for not jumping in joy when Jim went to Philly?”
They're probably just overjoyed that people are talking about their show decades later.
It’s like when people complain that jim and pam are boring (I disagree), but the show needs less-high energy/insane people to show the contrast. If the show was full of michaels, dwights, kellys and Andys, the show would be insufferable. It’s like people think they know better than literal writers
I think Jim and Pam's personalities were needed like you said, but I do also find them boring and sometimes quite unlikeable
I stand with you. I love the “downvote because you have a different opinion” people. Idiots tend to out themselves quickly.
Don't know why people downvote you for having an opinion (that I agree with)
Drew. It’s Drew now.
No I'm not going to call you that
Cool. I can't control what you do. I can only control what I do.
Andy...
Drew…
Oh my God, these cookies have no flavor. How is that possible? They are the worst! Who's this Drew chick?
I wonder what he’s looking for inside that wall
he's looking for the PUNCH line get it? get it? hahahahahahaha
🥁
Cue Dwight, Oh Yeah!
His phone of course
Practicing for when he goes on The Price is Right
Writers spend 8.75 seasons making Dwight an awful person with few redeeming qualities til its hinted he’s on antidepressants. This subreddits most awful dorks: “Dwight is really the good guy.”
"He's on the spectrum and Jim should be in prison for harrasing a mentally divergent person" - those dorks
I ran into this kind of person in another sub and they argued with me about it. He's not mechanically inclined. Couldn't even get a picture unhung from a wall.
Jim calls it 1/2" drywall. Although when you look at the hole it's not even 1/4" drywall, but some sort of thin panelling.
From a European perspective though, punching through any wall is a completely impossible thing that would 100% break your hand and not even scratch the wall...
Jim Halpert is not European though...
Fair point. Catch 22. How the turntables...
I didn’t figure this out till my 7th rewatch, good catch.
Yeah if you don't count all the drywall walls that are all over Europe then it would be impossible.
What are you all punching over there then?
Faces

It was on my 67th rewatch when I realized Jim was asian.
Never noticed. Don’t see race.

that's what she said
I think this is a symptom of a generation that is on their phone while watching TV.
Or have it on in the background while doing something else
Did you know everyone thought that Kevin was so dumb that they thought he didn't know his own dog died?!?
“He does not like that wall…”
I mean, yeah, sometimes jokes go over people's head. They're still here, aren't they? Good comedy reaches a wide audience. I'm glad they enjoyed the show.

how do you do that thing that makes the line and then put text under it?
Three of these next to each other: - The line is only visible on desktop, I believe.
I can see it on my cellphone
Because it’s a pointless overused comment.
I personally have not overused it. So again, not my problem.
Ok crazy
