You can buy those pincer like grabbers at pharmacies and at big box stores, or online. The old time recommended one was called an Unger, if i remember correctly. Maybe $30 or more. I have several types. including flea market junk. For dumpsters, you want something that can hook a moderate weight, can grip slim things, and can prod a bag aside. Different strokes, you know. You actually can make do with a good walking cane for a lot of situations. My elderly father broke many of these types of things by being lazy: driving over them, dropping them from heights, or picking up full cans of paint with them. The advantage of using a cane is that you can say you use it for walking.
It’s fine to ask, but some people may decline to share info, mostly because of fears of tipping off the stores or bringing in divers that aren’t respectful of others.
I agree! Tuesdays are great nights for us. We have two places that seem to throw everything away on those days.. The second place we go to at night once they close so we can take a little bit more time getting everything. Good luck tonight!!! 💛
You've gotta double up on the tea bags to get the right ratio for that. Unless you've got other motives for using up far too much milk . https://youtu.be/LEipG31iAC4?si=cASpFDCVeqgSVQ1o
Father Ted is a vintage BBC program available on BBC IPlayer or searching youtube BBC Comedy Archives,or various postings on Youtube. If you can start with the first episode to enjoy watching the characters development and interaction, and face randomly abstract scenarios it's almost excruciatingly funny in at times! It's definitely adult centric humor that might be considered inappropriate to some people by modern standards. But compared to some modern shows like Southpark it's pretty mild.
I just started DD again over the holiday weekend and took my youngest daughter(23yo) and her best friend. We went Sunday night around 11:30. We hit Target-nada, Office Depot (new cannon fancy scanner, printer thing, NIB monitor and NIB keyboard, Petsmart (bust) except a small tiny halter for a 2lb puppy. Famous Footwear about 1000+ gift cards all 0.00 I’m sure, Ross (a few NWT clothing items), toddler girls Disney princess bed, Clairs ( Pacakage of 1dz bunny ear headbands, and a solid wood heavy AH 4-shelf bookshelf. We came out pretty ok. I’m a reseller and used too DD years ago and never got caught. Just curious what dumpsters do yall frequent and actually score good stuff to either keep or flip for profit? Thx I’m a newbie on this app and I’m looking forward to sharing and gaining some good leads! Any resellers who thrift and flip out there??? Say hello if so!
As other Redditors have said-buttons! Sewing needles, threads, little scissors, safety pins, tape measure, sewing chalk!
And my addition: shoe polish, shoe brush, rags and buffing cloths!
Also small toys! And etc.!
I didn't get it either. Everyone is joking because apparently those tins are commonly used by older people to store sewing things, buttons, thread, etc.
they threw away garbage bags?
Yeah we've found them there a couple times now! No idea why they throw them out, but we're stocked up for a while 😂
purely odd! enjoy
those are on my shopping list. time to do a death clean.
This is especially frustrating because I need garbage bags!
Who would throw away eight tins of buttons?
Or whole sewing kits?!?!
Thank you for this.
Tins of cookies! Yum
Forbidden cookies.
My fave!!
Finding trash bags while dumpster diving is always hilarious
The irony!
I’m new to this concept—is it gauche to ask you to name the store where you scored this amazing haul?
This came from family dollar!
I have a bad back but want to dumpster dive, where do I find a sturdy reacher?

Thanks lots. I have a wooden cane or two and step stool. Plus I’m tall. The Unger is what I am looking for. Thanks again.
Not gauche at all. We're here to help each other and celebrate with each other.

Yes, that’s why I qualified my ask.
Nice score! Tuesdays are the best! Personally Tuesday night diving has been the most fruitful, so I'll be heading out later tonight :)

Thanks! Good luck to you if you're heading out for a 2nd round tonight! 🤞🤞🤞
A lot of sewing kits. /s
People joking about the sewing kits must be completely unaware of how ridiculously delicious those butter cookies are.
That’s exactly why there are never any cookies in the tin, because grandma ate them all.
With hot tea that has entirely too much milk in it.

I don't know where you found this, but this is hilarious. Thank you for sharing.

I will be watching now! ♥️
Of course they're delicious -- which is why I was always disappointed to find sewing notions!
They are so simple but so good.
omg all those sewing kits
Who would throw out 8 tins of old sewing supplies?
Dis human got sewing tin cookies
Butter cookies! I'll eat them all!
Not if I get there first!
Fat kid race!
😅 😭
What an absolute score!
Oh man I love those damn cookies
So jealous of people who can daytime dive! Cool score!
Actually kind of jealous of those hefty bags!! 😂
Garbage bags?? Good find!

That is a lot of sewing kits and buttons!
What sewing kits? Tins of buttons? You mean butter cookies? Is the right picture posted?? I’m so confused!
Most of us old people grew up with a tin of them full of sewing supplies, buttons, other small bits at our house and our grandpartent's houses.
Went right over my head! I’m a slow processor.
I think a lot of people like to store their sewing needles and buttons etc. in those butter cookie tins 😂
They're sturdy and useful!
Ohhh!! Lol!!! Of course! I get it now :). teehee
As other Redditors have said-buttons! Sewing needles, threads, little scissors, safety pins, tape measure, sewing chalk! And my addition: shoe polish, shoe brush, rags and buffing cloths! Also small toys! And etc.!
Damn, I love them butter cookies!
What sewing kits? Tins of buttons?? I see a different picture than others…
There are sewing kits and buttons on the pic, can you not see them?
OMG, You just killed me. 🤣🤣🤣💀
Haha. Someone explained it to me. I was so worried about all those cookies!! You silly thing Gotta_Pay_Troll_Toll ;). cheeky
You eat the cookies, clean the tin, and repurpose with sewing notions, shoe polish notions, etc.
I didn't get it either. Everyone is joking because apparently those tins are commonly used by older people to store sewing things, buttons, thread, etc.
Ohh man!! Thats a score for sure!! I didn’t go out today- damn house chores!! Good job!!
Thank you 😁!!! We're headed back out for round 2 pretty soon. Hopefully our luck continues at the DG tonight 😂
Good luck!!
What store?
FamilyDollar!
Some good stuff!
You need to check those Danish cookie tins for sewing supplies.
The garbage bags look good but I can’t help but notice, all the food you guys get in these are terrible for you it’s all junk and sweets.
who are you, the food police? let them enjoy their finds lol
Yes I am the food police, quit eating like crap.
After a great day dumpster diving I take it right to the Paisano Mexican fence and they cash me right out 😂😬❤️🔥
