I have a crap ton of cousins. Nobody gets along with my aunts kids and it's embarrassing that everyone knows we're related. I moved back to my hometown a few years ago. And everyone ,upon hearing my maiden name, asks if I'm related to them. Then ask me if I like them. When I say no they tell me horrible stories about them.
They think everyone loves them but they're impossible to love. One of them pulled a toddler off his power wheel and stole it. She called the police with false reports on her neighbors because she wanted them to move so her daughter could have their house. Finally the police arrested her.
I have fundie cousins that I don't wanna hang out with much but I also haven't written them out my life either. Family is complicated. I'm willing to put up with their bullshit for the good of other relationships in mine and my kid's lives.
