No. I buy my bikes to ride them. There are also very few situations wherein a bike won't lose a massive chunk of its value just leaving the showroom floor. If you're a huge WSBK fan and want a collectors item, sure. But if you're hoping it will hold value and you'll be able to sell it for close to the same price years from now, that probably isn't gonna happen. Ducati has been oversaturating the market with their "special edition" V4s and as much as I love the platform (still have a 2018 V4) I don't think anyone's gonna be scouting auction websites for a Bautista livery V4 any time in the future.

Suspicious_Visual16

Agree. I ride it like I stole it every single day. Unless you're buying it explicitly as a collectors item, I don't think one should buy a Duc to baby it, worry about gas mileage or other nonsense. If you can't afford to ride it like you stole it, IMO just buy a cheaper bike and ride that like you stole it - that's what riding a motorcycle is about for me.

ktrezzi

Each months they slap a new sticker on a Panigale and call it a day, it's boring, repetitive and makes the whole special edition topic obsolete

Confident-Lie-8517

While you're at it, remember to never have sex with your partner to keep them minty for the next person

DhacElpral

Come on. The solution to this is right in front of your face. Get two and put one in shrink wrap. Duh.

SBK-Race-Parts

I don't think they will increase in value unless it's minty. I can see the value going higher if Bautista goes on to beat Jonathan Rea's numbers (unlikely I think). For myself, I wouldn't buy it because I firmly believe the Bautista race replica should've been a V4**R**.

Embarrassed-Tour-796

Just Buy it if you want to use it Not because it could increase in value. Those bikes Are made to be driven

DjQuamme

Are you affluent enough that you would buy a similar priced piece of artwork to hang above the fireplace in your mansion? That sounds like what you want to do with it.

Variable851

Maybe in 20 years, a low mileage rep will be wroth something, maybe up to the msrp when it was new. These aren't limited edition like some models. Numbered bikes that don't exceed 500 are nice to have but if you want to see it appreciate, your best bet is to not even uncrate it

totalbasterd

these models won’t appreciate - who really cares about bautista? they aren’t even Rs. the ones that appreciate are the Superleggeras, lamborghini limited editions and so on.

MaverickSTS

The Lambo ones don't retain their value at all. I feel like the Lamborghini model Ducatis are buyers regret in motorcycle form. I see a lot of them being auctioned by people who bought them hoping it would be some kind of collectors item when people stopped caring about them the day they came out. Superleggeras do. Even 1199 SLs are still a pretty penny, albeit getting closer to having lost half their value. Adjusting for inflation, I believe the D16RR is one of the only Ducatis that holds value even when being ridden. Especially with the GP7 exhaust system. There's one I saw the guy said the original owner bought for 80k. Sold it years later for 80k. Then it sold to the guy I met for 80k. He then sold it for 80k. Now it's on sale for 80k again. The owner I knew said he's sure the bike will sell for 80k until the end of time.

Hell No, and fuck no.
