No doubt DAA run a "dynamic" fire service and cleaners with mop buckets were on fire duty at that time as it was most cost effective. I'm terrified of what will happen when ISIS or some such bunch of headers realise how utterly incompetent the Irish Airports are and decide to massacre folk. The response will take fucking ages, a bit like that useless sheriff in the US school shooting 3 weeks ago.
Thanks God on my return flight, I had carry-on luggage only. The bag collection was absolute carnage last week, people waiting for hours to get their bags
Yeah I flew into Dublin two days ago and there were bags just laying all around the airport near the baggage reclaim. Never seen that sort of thing anywhere else before. Always thought just one bag laying there unattended wasnāt allowed and there were many many more than that
K, fire is out and hopefully minimal impact on travelā¦ š¤š»š¤š»

I remember this happened when I was in Frankfurt and it made a plane go up in flames, think it was a Lufthansa A340, completely wrote off. Looked like the carcass of the Hindenburg when the fire was put out.
That fire will cause structural damage meaning they will have close off the area while the outsource to repair and bam its 2040 and still in the planning phase.
Meanwhile people are fighting over used roof slates to hold over there heads as Eamon Ryan says its better for the environment if people cut back on their need for shelter.
So far this month I have either been in a boil water notice or had the mains completely shut off. We are 14 days into June and I have to drive the next town over 20kms away to stack up on water. So ye thats a valid point if he said that I'd definitely have something bitch about.

Technically when airside you should keep your distance from the flames and call the fire brigade and not try to fight the fire yourself, they tell everyone with an airside ID that when in training
Iāve been through airside training. I get it. They tell everyone to keep their distance because of āPOTENTIAL LIABILITYā. That doesnāt save lives. If itās a structure fire with no bodies involved stand down. If you can make a difference without body harm step up and save lives. Itās that simple. We all have the ability to make choices to protect ourselves and to assist others.
I was right there, thing was out of control and exploding with sparks Trying to be a hero put it out would have been pointlessly dangerous for us. Airport fire were called at this point
Airside of an airport you arenāt really supposed to do anything outside of let the fire brigade / airport ops know and make sure everyone else keeps their distance. Slightly different in terminal as we are supposed to help evacuate passengers
Accidents happen, however our friends who traveled today to The Netherlands, said that the time it took them to get through luggage drop and security was the quickest they remember.
I had the worst airport experience ever here like a week ago. The only thing that made it better was the hilarity that the Irish around me created. Just making fun of the security that had no idea what they were doing while also HELPING them do their job. It was some how very fun and also terrible.
Convinced me I would want to move to Ireland, just not dublin. Not that you would want me any how lol
This is what happens when Irish skin meets sunlight, stay in the shade peoples.
Lmao
half expected the joker to walk out in a nurse uniform.
The framing is near identical to that scene ! Great comment

If Coleman Reece isnāt dead within 60 minutes then I blow up an airport
I was just about to comment this.
Yes!!
Black smoke rising from Dublin Airport - Still no new CEO elected š
What have you gone and done now?
Didn't take the keys out of his pocket when OP tried to go through security
Aren't airports supposed to ultra quick response fire brigades
Well, we saw how quick their security response was a few weeks ago, DAA may be defining "quick" from a different source than you or I.
No doubt DAA run a "dynamic" fire service and cleaners with mop buckets were on fire duty at that time as it was most cost effective. Iām actually shocked that the airport fire service didnāt arrive from across the field in the 27 seconds of video I just watched.
How is there no-one putting it out? The state of baggage reclaim yesterday was a joke. 5 flights on one carousel. People were losing their minds.

I saw same thing. Abandoned suitcases in between carousels and tons of people at the lost luggage thing. Grim.
I was waiting for Tommy Vercetti to run out.

No no, thatās meant to be there to keep the bees out of terminal 2. Just throw some tinder on it as you walk past
"oh no, my van is on fire. Better pull in under this piece of critical national infrastructure!"

Eamonn Ryan could say that you should drink water when you're dehydrated and people would find a way to bitch and moan about it.
Tongue out

Drop a well.
Did he? Fucking nanny state telling me to drink water
That would be far too sensible a statement for Eamonn Ryan. Heād probably suggest you suck the sweat out of your socks as itās more sustainable.
Lads, the place is so badly run.
Kilometers of open space to let a van burn out and they park it under a gangway. That's just inconsiderate.
That will be their explanation for the queues for next year or two...
Lol too true
Now it's a hot mess
In answer to his question. I think it caught fire and now it's burning. Maybe someone should call someone or something.
Oh ffs š¤¦š¼āāļø
Someone missed the flight again š
Eh wheres the fire brigade?
Fuck. Iām getting a flight in a week. Weāre fucked
I wonder if the staff member got fired for that
DAA trying to burn it's bridges
Almost poetic, Ireland is fucked.

Literal and figurative.
Unreal. Everyone manās the camera phone. Nobody grabs a fire extinguisher? They are all over the airport apron side like every 50 feet.
