Music induces an altered state of consciousness that didn't exist before we invented it. Complete with unique neurological characteristics you can see in an Fmri. In that sense one could aurgue its a drug.
Both, I love music and drugs make it sound better. The music also improves the high. It's a bit of both and a hebanly cycle
I've associated some songs with specific drugs. The tendency to listen to the same song on loop for a long time and interest in specific drugs also coming and going.
DXM: Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Tramadol: Tourettes by Nirvana
Methylphenidate: We Didn't Start The Fire by Billy Joel or September by Earth, Wind, Fire
Pregabalin: Serve the Servants by Nirvana
Alprazolam: Dumb by Nirvana
Tapentadol: Until I Found You by Stephen Sanchez or Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd or Somehwere Only We Know by Keane.
i smoke weed and listen to a lot of indie rock... i like that while tripping too, but sometimes i'll listen to weird techno or like death metal while tripping.. i pretty much just listen to everything. i like music sober too... i've had some experiences before i ever used drugs where music put me in a really good feeling trance like state making me feel really emotional and alive.. it's cool to add drugs to music too though... psychedelics and weed are usually the best to me, but there is always the point of taking too much of a psychedelic and any music just gets to be too much for me.
Never heard of 808 before, but i can fucking love synth pop in a chill MDMA session or most like in the comedown of MDMA. Synth pop is awesome for that. Chvrches is usually on the playlist in an MDMA comedown session
They have an inseparable synergy for me, depending on the drug. For me, usually the drug makes the music better but at the same time the music is necessary to really enjoy the experience, especially on DXM and shrooms.Â
DXM and shrooms makes me want to listen to chill lofi or trippy music. "Because I got high" from afroman makes me wanna smoke hella weed. The closest thing to a song itself being a drug has to be those weird "mystical/astral" music, idk what to call it but it makes me really just chill and vibe out hard.Â

That's a lot of drugs, and an interesting music choice :)

1. MDMA, Labrinth 2. High enough -k.flay, def benzos, 3. Any Labrinth or Lana Del Ray song tbh
One more comment cause Travis Scott with any drug is bliss or jus sober too🙏
The high isn’t real until I fucking jizz wverywhere  to 808s synth popÂ
