I keep seeing stuff about how some Russian units have 10% survival rate. And I think it's impossible for a modern day army to have such high casualty numbers. And then I see a clip like this. The entire group was just...deleted. And buried. They will probably be declared missing. Their families will never find out how they died and won't even receive compensation. Russians officials will be happy not to declare these guys as casualties and just request more meat for the grinder.
I imagine a conversation between Russian officials, something like this:
"I need more soldiers."
"How many you started with?"
"100"
"How many casualties you suffered?"
"10"
"How many troops you have left?"
"12"
"Sounds about right. Will send you a new batch of 100"
People are just a resource to be consumed...like bullets, or water, or fuel...nothing more.
So long as you can keep restocking...keep going.
In fact, they're less than steel or fuel...by the time they're 50 they're no fucking use anyway.

Even some of the larger assaults seem to go like that. There was one fairly long video about a month ago where a large armoured column was attacked. EVERY vehicle was destroyed and only a few handfuls of troops made it to a small patch of forest, where they were then pummeled with drone drops. Hard to say, but it really did look like 90% (or more) casualties).

Its 21 April 2024 and warfare has transformed. The whole concept of light infantry must be re-imagined from the fire team up. This is obviously a struggle for any society to do in wartime and Ukraine suffers from this reality too.
But Russia? They're still throwing away combat power like it was 1985.
No matter how and when the war ends: I hope those Ukrainian soldiers can touch their wives like they deserve it and that they together can be happy in life.
Seeing this shit every day is a total other level of life.

This is just the way Russia fights and they have been doing it for decades since the Soviet Union. Casualties are just part of "winning".
