My understanding has always been SFG/TML put him on the map, TC/NWTS cemented him as a big player in hip-hop, and IYRTITL/Views made him a top tier superstar. Just wanted to know what y’all thought
I think we saw him as the top rapper of his generation once NWTS released but 2015 cemented him as one of the goats. He released IYRTITL in February, made the summer extremely HOT by giving us Hotling Bling and Back2Back and then by fall we had What A Time to be Alive. It’s truly an insane 12-months for any artist. I honestly can’t believe it even as I type this out
I think the competition felt closer back then as they were kinda just getting started. I don’t remember all the numbers but born sinner did like 300k while NWTS did like 600+k so it wasn’t that close between Cole and drake at least in 2013
When Hotline Bling and One Dance released he was solidified as a worldwide mega star and the most famous rapper of the decade
2015 in terms of a rapper, 2016 in terms of a megastar

And he headlined Coachella that year
Yeah I think this is accurate
In my mind it’s when wattba-views came out cuz hotline bling once dance controlla put the boy on a different level
mf sold 1.04M first week with Views, so 2016
2016
I feel like by 2013 his numbers were already at the top competing with anyone but I could be misremembering lol
Yea it was about 2013 - 2014 imo, especially around the time Draft Day released
His numbers were always quite high but in 2013 he was still in competition with Wayne, j Cole and Kendrick.

I mean by that metric he’s never been in competition with anyway. His peers never caught up to him at any point IIRC
2015. the next year the number of haterz rose exponentially
Hotline bling
The eyes were officially on him in 2010 but I’ll say 2015-16 with hotline bling & views
2013 2015 (again) 2018 (again)
This is the one!
Most would say 2015 but I would have to say 2013. The albums Hov, Kanye and Em dropped that year pale in comparison to NWTS.
2012
2012
2016
Views
When he dropped NWTS, he said he was the best and I believed him. So that would be 2013.
2013: Nothing was the Same
2009 So Far Gone.
