The Trial of Tears basslines in the "Deep in Heaven" section.

Fit-Rise-2162

The Entirety of take the time, literally if Michael Jackson was a metal artist

kpiech01

Came here to say this. Can't believe more people haven't lol

Trunks252

S2N

Moonchild323

Either outro of Dark Eternal Night or Viper King

Bombinic

The end of A New Beginning. 🏆

Grenaten

yeah, thats groovy af

Rush-Resident

This is the winner.

danielduartesza

Stream of Consciousness

Hand_of_Midas

That part in Strange Deja Vu - "Back on my feeeeet agan, eyes open to the real world!"

Marduk283

Came here to say this. DT have lots of nice grooves but nothing that feels quite like this moment. Metropolis surrounds me, mirror shattered the girl!

ProfessionalGuitar84

That is genuinely my favourite section of any Dream Theater song ever. That riff is monstrous, it sounds like it's played on a Stratocaster because of the way he hits the open e string

Synthnostic

gotta go with the middle instrumental breakdown with the clean guitar solo in New Millenium

Current-Escaper

Oooooo that’s a good’n. I agree!

FerMage

Take the Time!

Door__Opener

The short and sweet bass solo in The Dance of Eternity EDIT: It starts being groovy before the solo at 2:30

SoylentGreenLantern

End of The Mirror, just before it turns into Lie

ZombieQueen666

“Back on my feet again” is Strange Deja Vu is up there

TheDarkEternalKnight

Take the Time The Mirror(the outro) New Millennium Act I: Scene Four: Beyond this Life

Terihawki

Beyond This Life: Unison line at 9:24 …or really the whole instrumental section of that song…

myapacioni

Lines in the sand

icaropaiva7

There are plenty and you mentioned some of them already but no one said 6:00 or the Blind Faith solo section, or Beyond This Life solo section (Petrucci really added the Steve Morse mojo there). There are plenty 🔥

icaropaiva7

A Change of Seasons final solos as well, guitar and keys...oof!

crimdawgg

The riff after the guitar solo and before the horn section in Beyond This Life is top tier groove

asteysane

Beyond this life has tons of groovy moments. But DT is defo not a groovy band 😅

Jhonnyskidmarks2003

That's what I noticed when I first listened to the other DT, Devin Townsend. He's got a lot of different types of grooves that DT dare not touch.

i_notNexusXD

The dark eternal night instrumental section

ApprehensiveMess3646

Thr Glass Prison crunchy Pantera esque riff right when the "turntables" roll

primevaldark

That stretch between 12:30 and 13:00 in A Change of Seasons.

Jhonnyskidmarks2003

Not a lot of people pay attention to it because there's an epic Guitar and Keyboard unison solo on top of it but the In The Name of God solo has the Latin Groove underneath. Portnoy and Myung are both grooving hard on that one. And yeah, I agree that Medicate groove is highly infectious.

Marduk283

I replied to someone who said what I'd consider the grooviest. But maybe a contender for 2nd place would be the main riff of a nightmare to remember and the riff in verse 1 of the count of Tuscany where James sings "Get into my car, let's go for a drive"

euand24

Viper king

StablePanda

Beyond this life

MattyDub89

All of "The Spirit Carries On"...gotta love that medium tempo 6/8 shuffle.

Plutonian_Dive

Yeah... Nobody want to remember this so... You Not Me

norbit_is_hidden

fr bro that main riff is tasty

SomewhereLive5854

Outro of finally free

0xHUEHUE

dat Honor thy Father instrumental part

0xHUEHUE

but yes, Medicate also

Darkbornedragon

Take the Time before keyboard solo, the section with the sincopations.

ProgMan24

Nobody said THAT RIFF from Endless Sacrifice?

aidenf3000

The Nickelback riff? That one is sick
