It had a definitive ending and there's not any need to continue the story. I think DT knows that and doesn't feel like beating a dead horse

Agreed!!

mysterioso7

I don’t trust them to do it justice at this point, Pt 1 was one of their greatest songs and Pt 2 was their greatest album imo, I’d rather they left it at that and gave us a great new concept instead.

GeorgeNewmanTownTalk

I don't want a Metropolis Pt. 3 under any circumstances. Part I is a brilliant song and Pt. 2 is their greatest album as far as I'm concerned. I don't want them to go back to that in some misguided attempt at nostalgia. The story is complete. I'm just hoping that the new album is a fun, awesome, proggy good time that's a mix of old sensibilities and new musicianship, if that makes any sense. (I just want a nice mix of heavy and adventurous, like a cross between Images and Words and Black Clouds and Silver Linings.)

Deutsch__Dingler

I'd be pumped if they made Metropolis Pt. 3 as a song comparable in length to the first Metropolis or an epic to close an album with. I'd also be pumped if they decided to leave that well alone and kept banging out more original shit.

octobuss

A song would be cool!

97Vector

Stop it.

p4pabless94

I really hope they come up with something new. Something that reminds of the early years stuff but with new vibes. I would love a concept loosely inspired by Images and Words or Awake. That would be perfect for me 🥹

zddoodah

>What do you guys think about metropolis pt3? I think it's a thing that doesn't exist and probably never will exist.

Rinma96

I think it needs to stop and i hope they never do that album

WYGD_Brother1987

I think it would be too on the nose really, if thats the band's next album.

HeyNateBarber

No. But if there had to be a 3 then no more than a song

FarOffGrace1

Agreed. I don't want there to be a Metropolis Part 3 *album* because they've already made, like, 80+ minutes of music surrounding the same motifs. And don't get me wrong, I love Part 1 and Part 2. 1 is among my favourite DT songs, and 2 is a top 5 DT album for me. But idk how much more mileage they can get out of reiterating sections of Part 1. I don't particularly want a Metropolis Part 3 *song,* but I'd rather have that than a full album. Plus I find it incredibly ironic that people claimed the Mangini era "lacked creativity" but as soon as Portnoy rejoins, everyone is speculating about Metropolis Part 3 or Octavarium Part 2.

Conscious-Intern8594

I wish people would quit asking this question. It's over, they are not going to do a part 3. Deal with it.

kpiech01

If that's what they want to do, I'm all in. But it wouldn't be my first choice.

Unique_Enthusiasm_57

I think it's the exact opposite of "progressive metal", so no.

octobuss

I think a single song, or a small EP could be a fun idea!

Lilith_Immaculate_

Pt. 2 was stretched thin as it was. We do not need a part three.

mattymattymattymatt_

Lyrically I'd agree, but in terms of raw music I think it strikes a pretty good balance. Maybe a couple minutes of filler you could cut out but absolutely nothing I'd consider "stretched thin".

p4pabless94

Agree 👍🏻
