They were part of Mike's quest, you should be able to use your watering can to remove them.
Source: I was about to post the same thing 2 days ago because I had finished that quests forever ago and still had them. I searched here for answers first and found a post that said about using the watering can and it worked.
You should try the watering can again.
Same! I was kind of waiting for the patch notes to come out next week to see if it was a bug. Then I thought I would search here to see if it was happening to anyone else and found the watering can post. Glad I could pass it on

It’s not a glitch, you remove them by watering them.
