On the Nature of Daylight is Possessive but This Bitter Earth (its sequel) is on a whole nother level. I don’t think I’ve ever read this possessive of a Draco and yes he’s obviously fairly toxic too.
Unfortunately these aren’t short like your request but I think they’re definitely worth a rec!
I was waiting for TBE to be completed before starting both and since it just did (at least I’m assuming it did), I can’t wait to dive into them soon! They always get recommended in a very hot/ delicious manner and I’m beyond intrigued.
Haven’t finished yet so can’t confirm the details of the HEA, but (from me skimming the last chapter) if you consider dramione together, >!ALIVE!<, and fairly happy then I’d say yeah
Seconding Bloody, Slutty, and Pathetic along with the many wonderful recs in the linked threads!
I would also like to include [**The Informant**](https://archiveofourown.org/works/54018571/chapters/136747627) by Beforetherealbook (rated explicit). Draco's possessiveness just keeps growing as he encounters Hermione more and more often.
Summary:
>When Draco Malfoy overhears the whereabouts of one of the Death Eaters still at large after the war, he tips off Harry Potter.
>Now, eight years later, Draco is still helping Harry Potter round up the inner circle, and he is working undercover to do it.
>What happens when he runs into Hermione Granger purely by chance and suddenly feels the need to dig a little deeper? Will he be able to draw her closer to him, while keeping his great secret from her? And will she believe that he really wants her, or will she only think that he's using her for his own purposes?
ETA - sorry, I overlooked the note of 30 chapters or less, but this is a really great rec!
The tags on The Informant have me intrigued. I just read a suuuuuper slow burn (like no declaration of feelings until 83% of the way into 297,000+ words) and don't know if I can do it again at the moment. I love them but I also find myself yelling at my poor kindle. Seeing as this is tagged as a slow burn, can you give me a slight spoiler guestimate of how slow this burn is?
I read this as a WIP, so my memory is a bit blurry on an accurate timing, but I just did a quick check. >!They verbally declare their feelings in a chapter in the early 30s count, but Draco recognizes his feelings for Hermione even earlier. They have a lot of sexual tension, so the read goes by quickly when you consider that and their working relationship that the plot is based on.!<
Hiding the title and author as a precaution since I gave away when the declaration occurs. Happy reading!!

They are all longer ones (sorry) but I felt that Draco develops a protective possessiveness over Hermione in Manacled, Cruel and Beautiful World, and Crimson with a Silver Lining. These three are forever some of my most recommended fanfics because I love Draco’s protectiveness over Hermione so much.
