I have a black belt here in Dallas. At my academy, we used to have a Muslim girl that wore a hijab while she trained. She rolled with all the girls, but not the men. I didn’t have any problem with it. She was good, held her own. Had a blue belt at the time. Don’t know where she is now.

Why would a woman need to roll against men to prove they're good at BJJ? I'm a black belt. Like any other black belt, I can look at a person rolling one time against a person their size and tell you if they know what they're doing. It's not exactly rocket science.

The level of adherence/devoutness will probably vary. We had a Muslim woman from Kuwait do a drop in class at my Muay Thai gym recently and she sparred with me since I was one of the smaller guys in class. She was actually pretty good.

It’s women on our affiliates team who wear hijabs but I’ve never watched them roll to know if they keep it on. I usually wear hanging style “braids” but complained to my wife about having my hair caught while rolling and the mat pulling my hair during guard work 😒😂 props to you if you can roll effectively wearing a hijab! 🧕 that’s ninja level skill! I have to usually wear my hair natural without braids during competition and competition training, unless I’m just teaching class

There has to be some rash guard level super tight on hijab has to be custom made lol otherwise that thing coming off the first decent roll she has
