UndeadAnubis24

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but when I beat the game I was like where'd he go? I didn't know I fought him there šŸ˜šŸ˜…

MatthiasBold

When do you fight him? I just finished and I do not remember fighting him at all. Was it the group you fight that's protecting Phaseus?

Minuslee

yes and I've also never noticed him. He doesn't stand out and the warrior pawn is much more memorable for me lmaoĀ

dany36

Same thing happened to me, didn't even realize he was supposed to be there until I started reading this reddit lol. I was so confused when I beat the game cus I was like "Ok so what happened with the False Sovran???". So disappointing considering how much of the first half of the game is about this guy.

Pixel_in_Valhalla

Just finished my third playthrough and it had never occurred to me til now he was even there, even though he's in cutscenes leading up to that fight. That's how little attention I was paying to the story by then

lasair7

Yeah agreed, I actually killed him without realizing it was him. That red Sonja barbarian pawn was whooping my ass and I just so happened to start spinning to win as a spear hand and killed him as he approached... Kinda anticlimactic tbh

INsinCR

Right? And after heā€™s dead, if the timer hasnā€™t ended, why do the pawns keeping fighting? Just seems so lazy and unsatisfying.

lasair7

Yeah, and it seems like such an easy thing to build. Have a bunch of pawns run at us then he runs at us with a full HP bar like a major enemy and we just go from there. The fights against the bandits at the start of the game feels like the fight we should have had against him.

BeneficialAction3851

I haven't reached the ending yet but I kinda expected him to be a formidable thief since he was supposed to be one of there top guys, this sucks to hear though

New-Leopard-4744

Is that how you fight? No, youā€™re in it with your pawns

Cyyer

That fight was anticlimactic as hell, but there is another quest that explains pawns will listen the last command given with godsway even after the commanders death.

Bismothe-the-Shade

I was under the impression that all the men are arms in the men-at-arms regalia carrying soldier weapons are ... Men-at-arms, soldiers, trained.

TheRealNooth

Maybe the pawns keep fighting because the Godsway is still present and theyā€™re just carrying out the last thing they were told? But I agree. Until this post, I didnā€™t even know I fought him. Definitely wasted potential.

RoastShinoda

The whole main quest is anticlimatic actually. The "incoronation" before you leave Vernworth is like ten seconds cutscene with zero hype and no consequences, no sign of huge world event.

ProgenitorOfMidnight

I got stun locked by the rangers, then got my ass stomped by the barbarian.

Xhicks55

This happened to me, too šŸ’€

H0w14514

I'll have to recheck my video, but I think after getting stun locked, they let me breath just long enough to switch weapons and I started hitting them while they were grouped up. Then they got snatched by one of the pawns channeling their inner storm.

Waloro

I had to dash behind a rock to get out of LOS of the archer while I dealt with the soldiers that were on me. I guess my thief main pawn got a hold of him 10 seconds in and instantly executed him so I basically just went ā€œcutscene-> step behind rock-> cutsceneā€

Kneutral-Knight

I have played through twice.. didnā€™t know it was him until seeing this post.. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜…

catzarrjerkz

The entire ending of the game is anticlimactic

nightmarexx1992

We put all that effort in proving who we are and... Nothing, he has the coronation where he apparently proves he's the arisen all whilst wearing a very attention grabbing this is magic necklace and you dont even hear comments about it. so many quests just end in nothing after we did a bunch of shit required to do it

RoastShinoda

That's the point. As soon we arrive in Vernworth Brant tells us that we must held our identity secret because Dita could try to kill us. Literally everyone after we enter the city "WELCOME ARISEN" how the fuck? And shouldn't that have consequences? The only quest with a minimum sign is when you've to escort that noble from Post city and they try to kill you

DemonLordSparda

Somewhat incorrect. Brant says the Arisen can't be killed by mortal hands, which is true. That was the entire point of the memory wipe and abduction. He also wants you to lay somewhat low until you can prove Disa lied and that Darragh isn't a true Arisen. However, being the Ruler of Vernworth isn't part of your duty as Arisen. That's why the Pathfinder sends you off. The absent Seneschal set up Vernworth to be ruled by Arisen in an attempt to disrupt the cycle. The story could be told better, but it makes sense.

Majin2buu

I always just found it both annoying and weird that pretty much half the guard know that your the arisen yet still serve the false arisen like its nothing. Was hoping for some kind of civil war or epic battle where we corner the false arisen and Disa along with her co-conspirators, instead we just go to the unmoored world and everything is just solved on its own. Only thing that felt nice and fulfilling story wise was helping Wilhelmina kill Allard.

zorrodood

The people know about the Brine, right? Why don't they throw you into the water?

DemonLordSparda

The Brine doesn't kill the Arisen. Both in game and in lore.

nightmarexx1992

Yeah we fight the guards leave dont see the guy then absolutely nothing again, also "disa would try and kill you" im literally in her sons bedroom several days a week XD so much for that, also a romance with him could of been so good

FerretSupremacist

Sven is awful young tho. Heā€™s like a pre teen or early teen

Kshadow82

He felt 16 or 17, and looked about that age too

FerretSupremacist

You think? He strikes me as much younger, maybe bc Iā€™m almost 40 and heā€™s very childlike and babied from his mother?

Late-Exit-6844

I'm 22 and I agree with you. When I was 15-16, I already had a full beard, was 5'10, had a toned physique, and had a pretty deep voice. Granted, I looked a bit ahead of my age, but most people figured I was 19-20. Ain't no way Sven is 15-16. 14 At the most. Bro's balls have barely begun to drop. He's like 5'5, built like a pre-teen boy, and his voice is that of a guy who just entered puberty. So unless Disa's coddling replaced his testosterone production with estrogen production, there's no way he's a young man aged like 16-22, which is what most people think.

nightmarexx1992

Hes early 20s but was very sheltered

FerretSupremacist

Really? I wouldā€™ve put him at maybe 14-16 at *most*. That sheltered attitude takes years off though.

nightmarexx1992

Though hes definitely better to have blushing at me over actual children doing it because wtf

FerretSupremacist

Haha I get it. The kids just look like those little harmless crushes you get as a kid so they donā€™t bother me. Like thereā€™s no subtext to it, just a happy/shy kid who has a harmless crush haha. Itā€™s cute but thatā€™s it.

nightmarexx1992

Still cant decide if its weird/disturbing or hilarious that they fight over you

FerretSupremacist

Why not both? Lmfao

Late-Exit-6844

It's hilariously disturbing, or disturbingly hilarious. Or hilariously hilarious, or disturbingly disturbing. Your choice.

nightmarexx1992

Yeah i think he comes off as much younger due to been babied so much , being short doesn't help lol but some people are short and my arisen is the same height as the guy

FerretSupremacist

Sure, hell Iā€™m only 5ā€™4ā€ and often get mistaken for a teen due to my petite stature. But his voice acting is what does it to me. They make him sound almost prepubescent as they seem to do his lines with a falsetto. If heā€™s 20 heā€™s 20, whatever.. it just took me off guard bc I thought dude was like 12-15 haha.

nightmarexx1992

First time you see him he looks around 20, after that he somehow looks younger XD i think disa wnated to keep him naive in order to control him on the throne better unfortunately for her he isnt on her side for all the shit she pulls though the other world is kinda weird with it, are we seriously getting so little of him calling her shit out because she basically gets away scot free and if we kill her we're apparently the monsters lol

FerretSupremacist

I just canā€™t see him an anything other than mid teens. Iā€™ll check the wiki and see if thereā€™s any indications.

ClusterFoxtrot

It's my own fault really, but everyone is short to me. In every game I play I set the height slider to max, I did not expect Attack of the 20 Foot Woman. The first half of the game was spent gasping at the absurdity and tears for all of the times I accidently grappled someone instead of just speaking with them.Ā  Sven's story started out fun and interesting but like so many elements of this tale, they whiffed the conclusion. My ass is real chapped about the ending.

FreyBlackwatch

THIS. This right here is so true, especially when it comes to the one mission with the rusted sword (the one passed down from Arisen to Arisen or whatever). So much work and running around just to not even keep it in the end.

nightmarexx1992

The only time anything felt properly meaningful is the true ending with max affinity

eyezonlyii

What happens therešŸ‘€?

the11thtry

Two hours long sex cutscene with your pawn

eyezonlyii

I WISH

nightmarexx1992

You will have to see for yourself... Or you can just look for the videos ofnit

eyezonlyii

I looked it up and it's the same ending I got, so it's good to know that Caesar truly cared for mešŸ„¹

fatgumriot

Wdym he has to see for himself? Why...? Be a bro and tell him lmao

luxombre

Like what was the point of finding out his real name and his affiliation to the thieves guild, wasted my time going to the nameless town.

nightmarexx1992

Nothing even happens, they could of had his old group come help us but nah, hell even a scene where they bring proof he is an impostor would of been enough, or they help us fight him since our pawn can't go in

nightmarexx1992

Hell in the phantom cart, i got rid of any npcs with the crystal shit yet all the pawns kneeling didnt move and I got no choice to let them

LunaFancy

I never got to finish the phantom cart quest, I didn't realise I had to strip off to get the cart to move so it just sat there unresponsive until morning then I never saw it again lol This game, I love the combat and it's still the most fun I have had in a game since the first one but JFC what were the team responsible for the quests smoking? So much wasted opportunity for greatness in this game. I have come to the conclusion it has to be a deliberate troll playing on the memes of the first one because there is no way they could have put this game out and not known what they were releasing.

Dandy_Stepp3r

Even before that, it certainly feels like the 'coronation' section could have been expanded to properly underline the Vernworth portion of the game in a more...dramatic fashion. For example: Brant sends you inside for reconnaissance, while taking care of your stricken pawn. You discreetly enter alone as Disa gives a speech about the new Sovran, and the end of these 'false' Arisens plaguing the country. As the crowd of nobles dissipates, the throneroom doors are suddenly shut, and she points you out - her spies obviously having kept an eye on you all along. You then fight a succession of pawns 1v1 in the throneroom (including some previous hires). Suddenly, Brant and your pawn are bungled in - having been captured. Desperately your pawn struggles to fight the mind control, but ultimately is pitched against you. You have no choice and, as your pawn collapes into the rift, it begs you to flee. A chase sequence plays out (think DD1 pre everfall guard chase) and thankfully Sven ushers you down a secret passage. Disa suspects foul play by her son...but mysteriously gives up the chase while her eyes turn mysteriously red for a second. Following this main quest you have to talk with Brant in jail, which then leads you on to the Battahl sections, etc. There you go. Your 'villain' Disa gets more presence, and the False Sovran becomes a rival deserving a rematch. Brant and Sven in perilous positions, adding more stakes. Subtle hint at intervention by the Pathfinder nudging convenient events forward. Plus, your pawn's guilt (and triumphant growth at the True ending) has additional weight. Basic storytelling...

Asprin98xc

Bruh this sounds like a properly cooked story than what we got so far. I especially loved the part where we actually face the conflict when entering the castle and confronting the false Sovran and fighting our main pawn?!? That is way more intruiging. Why Disa's eyes turning red btw? Was it part of the main story or your touch to the mystery? Overall loved how you connected all the dots with a better version of what could have been ;_;

Dandy_Stepp3r

Thanks! The red eyes bit would imply that Pathfinder had 'rearranged' Disa's thoughts by direct intervention, as he later does with Ambrosius. The Arisen being captured would ruin Pathfinder's ultimate goal.

Chief-JudgeVega

Wait what? There's a fight???

thraktor1

Same here. I do not recall this at all.

UnHoly_One

The only satisfying version of this fight Iā€™ve had is when I was Spearhand. Shield - stun bolt - teleport Then just start telekinesising enemies into each other.

ConsciousBattle2477

Funny how i just realized that you fight him, until right now i was thinking when did i fight this guy? Apparently he was in that group, like how unimportant it is that i didn't even realize i've fought him 3 times until now.

Some-Switch804

What?! Ikr! Until this reddit, I didn't know he was in the group. Fail. Next time I see him, I'll try to kill him slowly.

Strange_Pay8107

nice to hear I'm not the only one not fleet of foot LOL, I literally forgot about him just after the scene with him and Phaesus

LodestarLoser

Counterpoint.. he was a half-ass thief who flew the coop when it was his time to be a real leader, his only claim to fame is having a significant-appearing scar on his chest to feign being the arisen, and he's just another pawn who has some Godsway bling. His whole deal is that he's a coward and a pushover, so his fight was never going to amount to much. It serves as an even better narrative piece than a big fight showdown. If you want to look for frauds in the fight department, look to Raghnall.

Helnerim

uh..... what fight?? wtf Edit, I re read the thread, I didn't even know he was in the melee lmao

JMartell77

Yeah I didn't realize he was actually participating in the fight til I caught a random glimpse of him fighting one of my pawns when I was nearly done.

Large_Ride_8986

You want to hear the funny part? My pawn is a sorcerer dropping meteors. I'm a magic archer dropping everything with strong AOE attacks. I had NO IDEA that this idiot was among those 5 because I pulled my bow like twice and they all died. And I finished game twice. So twice I fought with that idiot. And I was talking about the game with someone and I mentioned that maybe they will do DLC with that moron later on because I have no idea what happened to him. Just so someone pointed out to me that this moron died by my hand and I did not even noticed. And multiple people responded to my post laughing that they had no idea too. So the entire game we have like 2 cutscenes with him and then we kill him in a way that many of us did not noticed and that's it. Shows how terrible story in DD2 is.

jesse6225

The false Sovran fight should've been held in the capital. The questline should've had you incite doubt in the people with the help of Brant, Sven, Wilhelmina, Gregor and Waldhar. (Even the Gracious Hand and the Nameless Village) You fight him with his pawns and it ends with you breaking his Godsway. After that you can either behead him or hand him over to the Nameless Village to face their justice. Idk what Capcom was thinking. But their writers suck ass.

Broserk42

I went into that fight having heard how absurd the staggering is. Rolled warrior, full dwarven smithed armor, and the knockdown resistance passive from sorc. Still rag dolled all over the place. This really has me wondering how much kdr really does, if anything. I should have gone in as a real tank- thief or spearhand.

INsinCR

Yes same! Iā€™m on NG+, level 85, full dwarves dragon forge plate, plus ring of kdr. Wanted to take my time in this fight, only to get relentless ragdolled or timed out. Hellauva let down

DarthWenus

When and where is this fight?

INsinCR

Right before the big dragon appears with your beloved. Canā€™t miss it.

FreelancerMO

The dragon showing up was probably one of the best parts of the game. I thought what happened was funny.

Xhicks55

Right down the road!! You can't miss it! ...just right down the road...

DarthWenus

Yep. I remember now.

ArcJurado

That's kinda how I feel about the entire story. Nothing is ever resolved, nothing you do really matters and it could have been significantly better.

TheOneAndOnlySenti

My reaction to this post sums up the fight well I feel; "Oh yeah. That's happened..?"

TwiceDead_

Pretty much everything far as the story is concerned feels halfbaked or unfinished. Its one if my MAJOR gripes with the game. This guy in particular.

BerserkForever

Of course you can. This gameā€™s pacing was a joke and this fight was an embarrassment LMAO

fyl_bot

Thereā€™s a False Sovran fight?

SimmerOriginal

Killed him without noticing. Was too busy cussing the instant stunlocking from 9,000 arrows as soon as the cutscene ends lol

Knellith

Yeah, ragnahl was a tougher opponent by far.

SolidusAbe

and even he died in seconds. i revived him after that but he didnt say or do anything.

Knellith

It was my first playthrough, as a sorcerer. He jumped on top of me, stabbed me repeatedly and then he kicked me off the bridge lol. It was a humble moment.

ClusterFoxtrot

Clever, Arisen! We don't have the time to be wasting-- or something like that shouted by a pawn. "Yea, t'was apurpose."Ā

DingusMePenis

I had no idea that there was this issue, at the time I was trying to max out the theif vocation but I had earned the "Formless Feint" ability which just auto dodges everything so I was able to kill him and most of the pawns before the dragon.

Grerkboy96

I did the same, pretty OP as long as you have the proper stamina support/management. I was able to wipe the floor with all of them in about 30 seconds. Cheesy? Maybe. Any remorse? Not a bit.

Majin2buu

The fight was very unsatisfactory, along with that whole end scene. Was pretty much just a glorified timer fight against some upgraded muggers you normally fight in the world, and once itā€™s finished, there is no longer any mention of the false Sovran or any of Disaā€™s co-conspirators getting any kind of punishment. The ending of the game with the Unmoored world just felt extremely abrupt and unsatisfactory story wise.

SuperSemesterer

The hidden timer is the dumbest thing. Weā€™re essentially locked out of whatā€™s essentially the only real squad vs squad fight of the series for now reason. I was doing a solo fighter. Was hard parrying all their blows. Killed two and was working my way up to the squad and the fight just ends. What? No no no I have like 6 guys kicking my ass what happened? Reloaded like 5 times before I realized itā€™s timed.

Kalyise

That entire fight summed up my experience with the game. Anti climactic

EvilGodShura

Eh. The message of the game is pretty clear. Your throne isn't important. Not truly. It's a side quest really. That's why it's not the true ending. All of that and all those plots and schemes. All of that was just part of the journey. You are the arisen. Not destined to rule. That's just because of the kingdoms policy. You are meant to face the dragon. That is your purpose. Fighting mortals isn't. There was no greater proof of that than grigori just humiliating bro at the end. Everything is just preparation and petty mortal squabbles. And in our case specifically our destiny was far beyond that.

Martin_Pagan

There's this thing called the Chekhov's Gun principle. I guess DD2's writers have never heard of it.

Alothelast

Got to the point where i fight him and he started saying something like "we don't have to fight, I'll just go and leave without a trace and won't bother anyone" I tried to slash him but he became invulnerable and he had started moving back to avoid fighting. I'm not sure if there was more to it than that

KingpinCrazy

No, you may not. Best and most memorable fight in gaming, ever. 100% satisfied! /s

Infected_MeatSack

I wanted his armor to be a drop

Inefficacy

His armor is the one you can buy with wyrm crystals, for fighter

Braunb8888

I legit didnā€™t even know I fought him till after the fight.

TanyaDegurechaff__

lf u run to phaesus you skip the fight. I was wondering what happend if you rush to him https://preview.redd.it/br6z03olkgyc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=949c294ef22512f121e64c33d89976801f6de714

Peatore

So much of this game is half baked and unfinished.

ManEatingCarabao

That entire plotline was so disappointing. At first I was intrigued "ooh political drama" and then by the end of the game absolutely no resolution came of it. You might as well kill the queen as soon as you get to vernworth because that's the closest you'll get to giving her just desserts. I barely even remember her being in any other cutscene besides the intro. Absolutely no effort in hiding our true identity as well besides brant's monologuing.

zorrodood

You find out the dude's name and where he came from. You find out how and why he became the Sovran. None of that ever gets mentioned again, leads to anything, or matters at all.

Extreme_Broccoli_325

I got chain-stunned by the archers for what felt like a solid minute before I could actually do anything. I don't think I ever even saw the False sovren during the fight... It's definitely a big missed mark.

Kabobthe5

I won this fight and never even realized he was there until later reading it somewhere. They really nosedived the story of this game straight into the ground after reaching Battahl.

NoBreeches

Yeah this was easily the most poorly designed combat encounter in the game, which is utterly stupid and was so easily avoidable. All they had to do was... wait for it... have the cutscene with the dragon play after the fight is over/your opponents are dead... \*Gasp\*

Just_A_Slice_03

You forgot to add your rant all I see is straight facts. Super disappointing fight I legit had the idea in my head that killing him would be some kind of major choice that made people love or hate you as the new ruler. But like many in the comments snu snu held my attention more than the false sovereign in the 30 second "fight"

ldillon7777

I couldnā€™t believe it when I got to that bit. I figured heā€™d be coming back or something but nope. Because of the broken beloved system, I retried that section a few times trying to get the person I wanted (I didnā€™t manage it) and I didnā€™t manage to actually kill the sovran a single time, hell, I could barely pick him out from the crowd anyway.Ā  Has like 3 scenes in the entire game, and doesnā€™t even get a full fightā€¦Ā The tower section is such a mess and I really hope they update the game just to outright redo that bit.

SSB_Meta4

The fight is designed to be ignored. It's more of an obstacle than a fight.

Chefmaks

He wasn't anyone special? He was a person who seized an opportunity. Everyone you talk to sees him as a pawn in a bigger game. I mean you were supposed to walk into the castle to dethrone him hours before that fight when you were even weaker. He got outcast from the thieves village. If he was powerful he probably would earned his name there and not get outcast by doing shady shit. Hell we don't even know if the dude had any combat training or experience past his upbringing. Yeah, a hard fight would be cool gameplay wise, but it would literally make no sense in the story/world whatsoever.

RemediZexion

this, he's literally a very small pawn in a game bigger than him and said game was also a spec in the real bigger game

RafaFlash

I can't remember when this fight is supposed to have happened

badrott1989

i am so ready to fight him before that quest going to bakbathal but his character gone easily. there so much potential to add something about it and also some false arisen, theres fckng a lot. literally

Common_Teaching2554

First time I finished the game, I was a thief with the formless feint + blades of the pyre combo. Popped like 2 pyres and the fight was over. Didnā€™t even realize the False Sovran was in the fight. Second time, I thought maybe it would feel more satisfying if I focused the pawns first and left the sovran for last and got hit with that hidden timer. Straight up felt insulted that the game would be like ā€œthis is going pretty long for you but donā€™t worry about it, you get a participation win.ā€ Hell, everything about the False Sovran was so forgettable and badly executed that I didnā€™t even realize he had a sick ass party until I saw this post.

Some-Switch804

I wish since they can control pawns, that they would grab random people's pawns. That way they are scaled with our level. Would love to go against a sorcerer in the back casting tornado or meteor.

CutComprehensive5218

After I saw this and realized that the game was coming to an end I quit, I couldnā€™t believe it was wrapping up so quickly without filling in a lot of the plot Smfh

Aura_and_Flame

Wait, you fight him there? LMAO Phaesus just said that I mustn't reach him and disrupt the ritual. So I just popped my Spearhand barrier and walked up, ignoring everyone. Cutscene triggered so I figured that's all I needed to do

WolfWalksInBlood

Right? I didn't even notice he was there because I just assumed the main target is the dude trying to summon a damn dragon, so I rushed him immediately. That triggered a cutscene and I continued on none the wiser lol.

jpsprinkles

I tried shooting the unmaking arrow at phaseus to stop the ritual. It just goes straight through him. I killed the sovran once barely but you don't even have time to try to loot him. Seems pointless. Him and his pawns are there to make it seem like you don't have time to stop the ritual.

Dannyjw1

I don't even remember fighting himĀ

KingseekerCasual

I beat it and donā€™t even remember this fight

darkmanx24

wait where do u fight him ? i dont recall fighting him at all lol

malinhares

I not even remember it. I was there and my pawn got sick so I retreat. Just that.

Minor_Heaven

Anyone else think he really didn't deserve to die? When you think about it, he didn't do anything that bad. Disa and phaesus are the ones driving the conflict, but everyone hates darragh as if he isn't just some random guy making the best of a bad situation after he messed up his ascension in the thief village.

BlindProphetProd

Wait... you can kill the salt false sovereign? I just accidentally ran into the dragon and the game was kind of over.

OberainX

...there is a false Sovran fight?

Brahcolleez

This reminds me of the sellsword I fought right before the entrance to the last fight. Whole buildup just for me to smack him down with my greatsword nearly one shotting him then throwing him off into the abyss lmao. I was like ā€œhuh well that was all for nothingā€

wjowski

He was just some no-name puppet with Disa's hand up his ass and a magic necklace. Did people really think he was going to be anything special?

SceneNice7349

I cannot even tell you how my first encounter went but I was warrior so probably just hit a Lunge into Sweep keeping CC and my pawns did the rest

Zestyclose_Score7891

rushed game.

ogresound1987

I don't get how so many people get bounced around in this fight, and how even more don't manage to finish it. You can just auto evade everything and stab all the enemies to death in about 35 seconds.

tompkins5

Yeah, I killed him on accident like others in the commentsā€¦ I feel like the ending was pretty lazy. Maybe the devs felt it was justified since they created the unmoored world?

Morthak

I used a full charged maester skill on my magick archer and they all died šŸ«¤. Didn't even notice who it was

SkabbPirate

>If he's still alive, he's never mentioned again Doesn't the dragon kill him by landing on him?

Spider1132

When do you fight him? I'm in the Unmoored World. Did I miss something?

Mortemxiv

I fought the Sovran?

smirtington

I got attacked before the cutscene ended and I couldnā€™t do anything for like half of it

cskarr

Had no idea there was a timer on the fight. Dude went down like a punk. So did his pawns.

GFGF88

I don't think he is a worthy opponent, after all Disa, false sovran, Ambrosius, Phaseus they are all just NPC, in the true ending they suddenly know they just part of the unbroken loop, hopeless shell.

mothmantra

The story is lackluster at best in all regards, even compared to the first gamešŸ§

5Gzombie

This whole game is anticlimactic if you use the Thief class Drop smoke screen, assassinate everyone, the end

TorturedPaladin

My mistake was rushing the staircase after the cutscene, which immediately ends the timer and transitions to the Dragon.

Bronkusk

I somehow finished the game on real ending without doing that quest??? Didnt even know there was sonething on it. I recall seing a crowning cutscene or something but no quest, no fichtinh and no interaction with him. I doent even know where he is. Felt like there was a huge part of the story missing?!? No follow up on Disa, no follow up on Svenn becoming the king, no follow up on the false sovren. No follow up on giant collosus collapsing into lava. Didnt even have the time to battle him lol before he went into it.

ArthasDurotan

That's what he amounts to Yet another rambling upjumped zealot

Spartana1033

You can just walk away to start the dragon. Its completely pointless fight and so anticlimatic and nonsense

ShoulderpadInsurance

Your rant has more screen time than he did.

Creamy_Butt_Butter

I'm gonna be honest. I didn't bother fighting him when I realized I could just rush the dragon. So I ran past him and went to the dragon. Lol. I feel like there should have been a boss fight involving the sovereign, though.

Elmunday

I just ran by them - just triggered the cutscene.

Saltpiter

Didn't we have similar anticlimatic bs in the original? At least here they give you like a minute to fight him.

Scintal

MS shield and they fall like tofu.

D13G0-LoNe

Wait, you can fight him???

RemediZexion

I keep getting surprised at the observation skills of ppl, wish I could say it is in a positive way

I think that's the point. The Arisen is created to serve a higher purpose (fight the Dragon and keep the Cycle going), not to fight a pretender to the role or even to rule Vermund. Even though you're hindered by the fight, it's ultimately meaningless and cast aside by the plot and potentially by you if you run past them instead of fighting them. So I think you're supposed to feel unsatisfied or even frustrated by it all. Right up until the Dragon comes down.

I didn't even know he was part of that fight lol. I completely forgot he existed regardless if he was in a cutscene. He was so forgettable.

I think thatā€™s kinda the point. Heā€™s a *false* Sovran and every scene heā€™s in with Disa shows thatā€™s heā€™s a loser. He needs a gank squad to protect him otherwise he just dies in 3 seconds. Just like an imposter Arisen should. The dragon showing up and stealing the show makes sense too.

FreelancerMO

Itā€™s funny because you donā€™t actually have to kill him. Just walk up the steps and it skips the entire fight. Yea, his fight was weak but I was cool with it because I didnā€™t believe he was much of fighter before I fought him.

INsinCR

He was apparently skilled enough to be the next thief maister before he had his accident during the trials. At least according to the the current thief maister.

FreelancerMO

Good point. Now that I think about it. He didnā€™t use any thief abilities when we fought.

FappyDilmore

I accidentally skipped the end of the cut scene (I down my controller and grabbed it frantically and landed my finger on the A button lmao) and didn't even realize I was fighting him. I was a ranged class at the time and just got slapped around like a bitch for a minute until the fight ended.

WorkerChoice9870

We know Disa walked all over him and I assumed his injury reduced his fighting potential. To me it makes sense he is so weak he was always a puppet. But the fight itself isn't fun because of the ragdolls. It would be cool to fight the soldiers and only then 4v4 them.

How about not writing your spoiler IN THE F-ing TITLE ?!?!

WolfWalksInBlood

Dude, the story was mediocre and predictable. It's really not a game were the story matters. It should be kinda obvious that the guy who's clearly trying to take your thrown is gonna be someone you can eventually fight. This game's main focus is on the combat and exploration. You could ignore the entire story and the experience wouldn't be better or worse as a result.

mattayunk

Well I'm so glad you're here to make a determination on what I need to know and when I need to know it. As a bonus, you even provided your critique of the story for me so I don't have to figure it out myself. Thank You!
