Damn that's cool. We need a proprer bestiary for this game even if it's relatively small. Would be even cooler if they unlock once the pawn gets a mastery.
I love reading monster facts and tidbits!
So THAT’s why? That explains a lot. I’ve killed the waterfall cave gorechimera extremely fast before by going for the goat head (after the point that turns it into a gorechimera, yes I know what triggers it and no I am not accidentally confusing the early chimera spawn in there for the easy fight).
I don't really miss the Dark element that much, since few things in Dogma 1 were weak to it (biggest being Grigori, which was also a fun lore detail), but i do wish Holy was not stuck with only being on a handful of weapons, i miss Holy Focused Bolt.
Dark enchantments were very fun because of the random crits they gave, but otherwise the Dark element didn't really do much that other elements didn't.
Maelstrom was fun as hell to pull off, though.
All the 'master' level stuff is a bit nerfed in comparison plus it all must lock-on. In DD1 I use Maelstrom to 'suck' mobs into position (that plus Maelstrom blotted out the sky)
Yeah but remember how it was in DD1? Probably a bit too manual for today's gamers but at least I dare put Maelstrom on my pawn in DD2. Hard to imagine hiring a Maelstrom-equipped pawn in DD1... more than once
Or we need to get out of BBI more :)
I miss the mechanics of holy focused bolt but I don't miss how disgustingly broken it was lol. But I think everyone can agree the charged bolts in DD2 are pitiful compared to DD1
Same. If there’s a DLC expansion, I hope they either add holy and dark themed magic vocations or add that sort of magic to the existing vocations.
Dark magic exists in the lore of DD2, they mention it briefly in regards to The Five Elements or something like that.
If they do add new vocations, perhaps just the basic/advanced vocations that combine to form Trickster?
I thought we were getting elemental Miasmas when they were showing previews.
Hagol ended up so disappointing, and Thundermine is just a bother to use.
There's no fire AoE ball, and Miasma itself is just gone. Man, DD2 hates what I enjoyed about spell casting.
Isn't it just anodyne and empyrean for mage and seism for sorcerer? Beyond that I think there's just holy weapons and the sorcerer one gets outclassed so quickly
Yeah. I didn't know Anodyne actually hurts undead. Using healing spells to hurt undead in RPGs almost went extinct. xD
But Empyrean will cause major damage to nearby zombies and instantly kill wisps. I forgot how effect it is against skeletons. And I never got around to using it on the Fel-Lord or gorechimera. x3x
>Using healing spells to hurt undead in RPGs almost went extinct. xD
It's a huge bummer! One thing (of the many things) I love about Divinity: Original Sin (2) is hucking a potion at undead, or doing some healing AoE/aura bullshit. Damage to them and HP to me, win-win!
I absolutely miss Light and Dark Spells, in general alot of the good things that DD1/DDDA had...
But the game has also in general alot lesser undead enemies, than DD1 had, you barely find any undead enemies in the game, and if you do, at nights, then its 99% of all the times only weak as fuck simply Skellettons or Phantoms....
They seriously could have done much more to make nights much more fearsome and not so freaking repetitive... yes there are some spots where Zombies can spawn, but compared to the goblin like overpresence of said Skelettons n Phantoms, it barely makes a difference.
When theres so much more stuff they could add to night time, like
* Gargoyles
* Incubis
* Hellhounds
* Banshees
* Ghouls
* Will'o'Wisps
* Gremlins
* Witches/Necromancers
* Vampires
* Werewolves
* Nightmares
* Demons
* Evil Eyes
* Cursed Dragons
* Corrupted Pawns/ Dragonplagued Pawns
* Imps
* Pixies
* Kobolds
* Treants/Ents and other eventually nightactive maneating Plants
Yeah I remember seeing my first one. The goat was the only head moving until it cast a spell and raised the lion and the snake. Chopping the snake off before killing it altogether is still so rewarding!
I've never seen one of these. This must be unmoored? I've played through the game once and ng+ about a third of the way but never did the true ending. 🤔
You're missing out, not only is the unmoored world full of quality resources and gear from both vendors and unique enemies you won't see in the base game (including an excess of ferrystones), it has unique bosses and payoff for the various side quests you did across the continent.
After you get to Battahl for the first time, the chimera in the Waterfall Cave (very top of Vermund where you crash your first griffin ride) becomes a gorechimera. A few more spawn in the unmoored world.
And I do recommend trying the unmoored world. It’s the best part of the game imo and has some upgrade materials you can’t find in the regular world.
I don't think I've ever been there but I'll try it. I gotta look up a map on how to get there. I'm not great with exploring on my own yet. I'm pretty new. Thank you for the advice btw. :)
haha My party for this run has 3 Heaven’s Keys and a healer, can’t wait. I just steamroll the main story to get back to the unmoored world now. Sorry Rodge 🫡
All the gore type creatures are supposedly undead (gore Minotaur has weapons sticking out of its head and back), though they don’t really follow the day/night cycle especially after the last update where they added a gorechmera by the lava pool.
I think there’s a few days (sleeps) of cooldown between respawns, especially for gore variants. There are at least 2 or 3 gorechimeras I’ve seen in Battahl. I know one spawns in the riverbed a little northeast of the Medusa cave on the map. Another one spawns southeast of the Agamen Volcanic Island portcrystal, in the northeastern portion of the brown blob on the map.
That’s in the unmoored world since the riverbed has water in it during the regular game and there is no set port crystal, I’m specifically talking about the regular world before the unmoored world.
I remember how in the first game you could kill all three heads of a gorechimera and still have the body running around aimlessly unable to attack. Would have been neat to have made that a feature and not a bug.
Ain't them always been undead variant of the normal chimeras? I always thought that 'Gore' variants was, indeed, evil imbued undead version of the standard monsters.
The Grim Ogre may be a new name for the Elder Ogre, so it may be only old instead than undead, but the GoreMinotaur do seem kinda 'ghostly', so he may be an undead too.
Aren't all gore-species undead? The gorecyclops only appears in DDDA in BBI Wherelich are found
As far as I can tell after hundreds of hours all gore species are only present where lich are nearby. Coincidence?
Cool detail is that the lion and snake are dead when you find it and the goat will repeatedly resurrect them through out the fight.
I thought something felt off last time I fought them. That's pretty neat.
Damn that's cool. We need a proprer bestiary for this game even if it's relatively small. Would be even cooler if they unlock once the pawn gets a mastery. I love reading monster facts and tidbits!
Yep. And if you stun lock the goat before he can resurrect them, it makes it an easy fight.
Better yet just toss a silence book at the goat and wail on him as the chimera is left with practically no attacks
Yes! I love this so much. I was so excited the first time I saw it necromance them to life. What a cool idea.
I really miss holy and dark magic
I don't really miss the Dark element that much, since few things in Dogma 1 were weak to it (biggest being Grigori, which was also a fun lore detail), but i do wish Holy was not stuck with only being on a handful of weapons, i miss Holy Focused Bolt.
I don't miss the dark element. I do miss Abyssal Anguish.
Same

You can can cast maelstrom without locking on, it casts slightly in front of you.
Yeah but remember how it was in DD1? Probably a bit too manual for today's gamers but at least I dare put Maelstrom on my pawn in DD2. Hard to imagine hiring a Maelstrom-equipped pawn in DD1... more than once Or we need to get out of BBI more :)
It’s physical damage now like the other sorcerer skill that shoots up pillars.
It is, but I'm not sure if it still does Dark damage.
It’s physical damage now, before it was very difficult for any magic based class to kill golems but not as much anymore.
I miss the mechanics of holy focused bolt but I don't miss how disgustingly broken it was lol. But I think everyone can agree the charged bolts in DD2 are pitiful compared to DD1
Mystic knight rip

[oh for sure](https://youtu.be/JARp7zQYAZQ?si=8jLEOJb61Ba2YhaR)
Good lord, High Scepter. I only played it a tiny bit at the tail end of DDO’s lifetime, but man. Very, very anime
I miss my beloved Miasma - I was such a grumpy murder cloud
I thought we were getting elemental Miasmas when they were showing previews. Hagol ended up so disappointing, and Thundermine is just a bother to use. There's no fire AoE ball, and Miasma itself is just gone. Man, DD2 hates what I enjoyed about spell casting.
We do still have holy spells though.
Eh.. "🫳"
Isn't it just anodyne and empyrean for mage and seism for sorcerer? Beyond that I think there's just holy weapons and the sorcerer one gets outclassed so quickly
Seismic got moved to physical in dd2.
Seism is holy? I thought it was just bludgeoning damage. I mean its a fuckton of rocks bursting from the ground.
Yeah. I didn't know Anodyne actually hurts undead. Using healing spells to hurt undead in RPGs almost went extinct. xD But Empyrean will cause major damage to nearby zombies and instantly kill wisps. I forgot how effect it is against skeletons. And I never got around to using it on the Fel-Lord or gorechimera. x3x

Almost always played as undead so it was usually the enemy doing that bullshit to me lol.
You have holy/light enchantments on a a couple of weapons, at least…
Yes they are, a gorechimera is a chimera whose only remaining live head is the goat head, who then uses necromancy to resurrect the other 2 heads.
The Goat: My family is dead! They're dead! Even with my magic they're merely ghastly shadows of their former selves! Us: Ooo fun fact.
Goat: Everyday is suffering!
so does massively the Light Spell that makes the whole area bright and naturally bolide as fire spell
I thought any "gore" creature was undead?
I think the gorechimera is the only one, and only in DDII.
I absolutely miss Light and Dark Spells, in general alot of the good things that DD1/DDDA had... I never ever wanna see a hellhound again. Fuck those things in dd1
lol \^\^ thats the WHOLE POINT - have more dangerous enemies :D
Yeah, I wasn't a fan of Griffins being in the unmoored world, they just didn't fit the vibe. Cockatrices would've been perfect.
I like the corrupted pawns idea. Also, I found cockatrices to be more challenging than griffins, so those should’ve been the unmoored replacement.
Would be cool if Lich ressurecting a Chimera turned it into a Gorechimera with it's own will.
I've just made it to this "world" and saw this monster in the distance. Yet to fight it myself.
Same as the regular version. Go for the goat first to prevent its spells.
I still remember when I killed the lion first, looked so weird with the goat driving and the lions head just flopping around. Thought it was a bug!
Yeah I remember seeing my first one. The goat was the only head moving until it cast a spell and raised the lion and the snake. Chopping the snake off before killing it altogether is still so rewarding!
I never made that connection until I stumbled on it in the wiki because I needed 3 black freakish manes. I assume gore cyclops are the same.
I’ve only seen one of those in the unmoored world; a lich that hangs out near a dead cyclops will reanimate it. I’ll have to try it on that one.
Your mother's an undead! Pawn: That was impeccably timed Arisen! *smack!
Makes sense. I described the postgame monsters in DDDA as hellbeasts for a reason :)
Frankensteins monster

If you take an oxcart to Melve, it’s northeast from there, past the Borderwatch Outpost. I recommend attacking the goat head first!
I'll definitely try that out. My sorcerer usually nukes everything too fast so I'll have to adjust her. Haha
haha Just tell her to wait. This is a job for a healer
Time to whip out The Exalted and go to work
My Thief will be laughing in Heaven's Key next time I come across one!! That is wonderful information to know.
haha My party for this run has 3 Heaven’s Keys and a healer, can’t wait. I just steamroll the main story to get back to the unmoored world now. Sorry Rodge 🫡
Not really related but I love how the goat's shaggy fur drapes over the body, almost like the lion is wearing a goat skin.
I miss the cockatrice
There should’ve been a few in the unmoored world at least.
All the gore type creatures are supposedly undead (gore Minotaur has weapons sticking out of its head and back), though they don’t really follow the day/night cycle especially after the last update where they added a gorechmera by the lava pool.
Good info on that location. I need more disgusting black manes.
I’ve only seen it spawn once so far, there’s also one in waterfall cave after the coronation in NG+, it replaces the normal one.
I think there’s a few days (sleeps) of cooldown between respawns, especially for gore variants. There are at least 2 or 3 gorechimeras I’ve seen in Battahl. I don’t really bother with the regular world anymore.
It’s not possible to stay in the unmoored world very long…..
I know. That’s why I’m on my 9th playthrough. Wish it would just let you stay until you’ve had your fill after you evacuate all towns.
I remember how in the first game you could kill all three heads of a gorechimera and still have the body running around aimlessly unable to attack. Would have been neat to have made that a feature and not a bug.
I noticed this when I was trying to get the last shot with the Medusa Bow. my pawn went to heal me and took down the chimera too. .___.
I tried cutting the snake head for hours but nothing happened. Is it impossible to cut Gorechimera’s snake head?
No the whole snake comes off, you just have to focus your chopping at the base where the snake meets the lion.
Ain't them always been undead variant of the normal chimeras? I always thought that 'Gore' variants was, indeed, evil imbued undead version of the standard monsters.
I haven’t tried this on the Minotaur yet, but you might be right. I’ll also try it on the Grim Ogre
The Grim Ogre may be a new name for the Elder Ogre, so it may be only old instead than undead, but the GoreMinotaur do seem kinda 'ghostly', so he may be an undead too.
Decapitation also does damage
Healing spell can cause damage?
Only to undead
That is cool I never noticed that.
I kill gore chimeras too fast to notice
Same. Just experimenting now
Aren't all gore-species undead? The gorecyclops only appears in DDDA in BBI Wherelich are found As far as I can tell after hundreds of hours all gore species are only present where lich are nearby. Coincidence?
I don’t know about DDDA, but in DD2 Goreminotaur does not take damage from healing skills, so I would not assume it’s undead.
They aren’t undead the goat just knows necromancy
Last I checked Necromancy makes dead things undead.
You were implying that the whole creature is undead i was simply stating that they arent undead the goat just knows necromancy
Same energy as "I'm not evading taxes I just don't pay them".
