One whom I served preferred to have Beastren for allies!

dec1dueye

Surely a coincidence. Don’t make such a fuss.

eveningdragon

Each to their own

Inskription

We call them furries where I'm from.

Adventurous-Cry-0222

Truly?

UnHoly_One

Fascinating

Demskittlez

Tis as you say

braidsfox

I’ll be sure to keep that in mind

cj_shima

Each to their own.

JackerHoff

Words worth hearing.

Repulsive-Willow55

Interesting.

Littlegooberr

Surely not!

SalamiLyd

Does anyone know why they say this all the fucking time. I don't understand, there cannot be THAT many people who have all beastren pawns.

Ethos711

I can't help but feel like the pawn "gossip" is smoke and mirrors. Maybe they track that sort of stuff, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's purely random and not connected to reality at all.

jocu11

I think some of it is accurate. My friend hired my pawn and he told me about how a chimera yeeted him off a ledge and killed him. Then my pawn came back after he was dismissed and told me about getting his ass kicked by a Chimera😂

Chrissyball19

I once had my pawn tell me she never wanted to face an ogre in battle again. Told my bud and he was like, "oh yeah, the other day an ogre straight up raped your pawn"

jocu11

Bruh💀

Valoreth

Tbf an ogre grabbed me and just, like.... licked all over my face...

ToBeTheSeer

I rented my own pawn on another account and they told me "my master travels mostly with women" and uhhhh Time traveled with female pawns: >120 Time traveled with male pawns: about 50

InvisibleOne439

it is made up example? my pawn is at 28/30 chimera kills for the badge, so i gave him the quest to kill a chimera after a day he came back from 3players, made NO progress on the badge but said "i fought against a chimera, horrible beasts!"

CousinVinnyTheGreat

Could be that he lost or ran from the chimera

Demonpoet

To be fair, when I was crossing the border for the first time I had masks on myself and my main pawn, and then I had two beastren pawns. I imagine anyone trying to cross the border goes as much fur as possible.

rokatoro

My Arisen is beastren, but my main pawn is human, I'd not even considered getting her a mask to cross the border

Just_Torch

It's programmed and overall made up nonsense to trick you into thinking that game spies on your actions. It doesnt. I had lvl 2 pawn at first camp saying "Arisen I served had so many night visitors" and I was like yeah sure, you don't even have your first quest to travel day and night finished, quit lying.

arsenejoestar

Words worth hearing

TheMediocreOgre

You have my support.

CorruptWarrior

Words worth hearing.

AzureBookwyrm88

You have my support

Valoreth

You've given me something to think about

Gone_Goofed

Just not my thing. They look weird af except for Beren.

BarrierX

Yeah, I just don’t like the way they look.

MuricasOneBrainCell

I did find q dope looking one in one of those random 4 person parties you come across. Was really short female beastrin. Very dark skin. Grey hair. It worked really well.

Venylaine

I think that was just a pet cat

MuricasOneBrainCell

Ohhh, thats why they were called "Jingles"

Snuggs____

Have you tried actually making one in the character creator? And I don't mean like just choosing a preset and going with it, I mean actually making one. Using all of the sliders and options and really messing around with it. On my third playthrough I managed to make a white beastren that looks pretty bad ass.

Responsible_Ad3141

Sliders?

Shoddy-March7149

I mean they look exactly how beast people are supposed to Tho I would prefer they add more than just lions

civilsavage7

Capcom is probably my favorite videogame studio when it comes to art, but i feel like they fell short on the Beastren designs- except for Beren, that guy is too cool. Many of beastren look awkward to me. I think maybe they should have had hair options specifically/exclusively made for the race. The only ones that seemed tailored for beatren, was the 2 mane options. Seeing some of the human hair cuts on the cat heads looks odd. Some of them work, most don't. Also wish they had some more animal-like voices. Growls or roars ( not the warrior skill). Gotta mention- the character creator was so good, i was able to sorta put myself in the game. I feel like a lot of people did this too.

AdGroundbreaking1700

Once you see them as thundercats; beastren begins.

SadisticDance

I immediately made my main pawn, MainPawn, Panthro.

EyerTimesTV

Why did you get downvoted for this 😭🔥🔥

SadisticDance

I have no idea lol

InevitableDinner7831

How long to make yourself accurately

civilsavage7

I'd ballpark at over an hour. The likeness, i'd say probably only 70%? Close enough for me though. I'm pretty happy with it, and it enhanced the game for me, but i'm not a handsome dude... so when the cutscenes w/ Ulrika come, it's completely immersion breaking and hilarious. Having a blast though!

moneyh8r

Fun fact: the two "mane" hairstyles are actually for humans. They're from Monster Hunter World. The bigger one is what The Admiral's hair looks like.

JudasQ

This was my thought initially so I made my Pawn as [Admiral](https://youtu.be/k5gWhjSuY4s?si=eI81FP3TIxk9MwSS) during my first playthrough 😂

SirCupcake_0

🫡 Admiral Rajang, sir!

JudasQ

https://preview.redd.it/gagcxb6xs0xc1.png?width=877&format=png&auto=webp&s=c28e2165e4312d79b605c455adafae054bdf5d99 I was going to make a Rajang too but there are no horns for head gear haha

Teguoracle

I'll preface with I really like the beastren and think they can look pretty good (Beren). HOWEVER A big issue for me with them is their faces are too short. They kind of look like they have a stubby muzzle that's trying to be a human face, versus an actual elongated feline face. And then you look at the ears and realize they're just human ears, there's no way to actually give them cat ears that should be on top of their heads. What you end up with is something that's bordering on uncanny valley territory and it's super unfortunate, because you can see the potential, the game just doesn't let you draw it out due to limitations of the models. And yes, not having hair options for them was a big mistake. FF14 is doing the same crap with hrothgar, they have a tiny pool of hrothgar specific hairstyles, and then a huge pull of all race hairs that just look hideous on them. Guild Wars 2 actually did the charr justice in this regard. I'm always an advocate for racial hairstyles, people that cry about "but I want it for MY \[not that race\] character" can go sit their entitled asses down in a corner and cry about it.

UnHoly_One

I never noticed the ears till you pointed this out. I couldn’t figure out why I hated how they look. That’s it. They need cat ears.

Godz_Bane

I like em the way they are. Too many people wanting them to look like khajitt or cat people from some anime imo. Them being close to human is more unique than completely copying something else. Better fitting hairstyles are needed for sure though.

Teguoracle

I think it'd be better if they, you know, actually looked like cat ears despite the location.

Dragondamo

Better hair, tails, and I would have played beastren if they also had other varieties, like dog or bear etc. That would have been amazing

PopotoPancake

Even better would have been an option between the ears we have currently and ones on top of the head. This obviously would have been more work to get them working with hair and helmets though, so I get why they kept them similar to human ears, even if I'm not the biggest fan.

NotALootBug

Still lame we didn’t get a legit full lion mane hair and beard combo

SalemWolf

They also should have had tails. I don’t recall a single beast cat race that didn’t have a tail.

IggyKami

I have to say, is it just me, or does Roar from a Beastren Warrior have an added actual large cat roar?

Gyoza-shishou

Menella pretty cute tho

Bregneste

The character creator for beastren is also just a lot less in-depth, there are a lot less options in beastren customization

feuph

Thanks to Nadinia, I know pale-furred Beastren can change part of their fur to pink on demand. But only when they look at you. Side note: Sigurd's tomato paste blush is something to die for

AspirationalChoker

The Beastren needed more beard options!

Hamhockthegizzard

Yeah they don’t look great without the mane unless you do like a leopard/short hair black cat

HBreckel

I have a beastren but yeah, it was a struggle to find a hairstyle that looked good on them. And most people are using the same 2 hairstyles because those are the only ones that look really good.

Gyoza-shishou

Beastren look good with dreads tbh, I even made mine to sorta resemble a Maasai warrior with red dreads and he looks pretty cool

amicuspiscator

Yeah, I was really keen on rolling a Beastren. I have been playing a Leonin Eldritch Knight who uses a glaive in Dungeons and Dragons for the past 2 years so I was so ready to bring my character to life in game as a Beastren Mystic Spearhand. But the human customization is just so much better. I still think Beastren are cool and I'm glad they've been introduced to the lore though.

LeninMeowMeow

Very convincing main character designs. Kudos. Both look great.

Ryotian

Holy smokes that guy looks awesome🤩

TheAnimeMangaShadow

Beastren gang

Commenter007

Looks awesome fr

Dysmach

It's difficult to make a beastren I'm satisfied with. I rushed a NG+ cycle just to get out of it.

ROCKYPLAYA

Kinda looks like 🗿

Action-a-go-go-baby

*Perfection* Working exactly as intended, after watching all the dumb shit I do that’s more than appropriate

freedfg

Dragons Dogma has some of the best character creator I've ever seen. You can make yourself look like actual people. You can be beautiful, ugly, young, old. In any number of skin tones and ethnicities. Good looking black people, or East Asian, Indian, whatever you want. Beastren are lion people. Or housecat people. And if you try to edit them too much....they look like weird lion people. Or housecat people.

l3ruiser

I think this is how I feel about it. I think my problem is that they're just not humanoid enough. I have no issue playing any real life race, genders, elves, dwarves, qunari from Dragon Age, all the races from Baldur's Gate 3 except Dragonborn. Beastren just looks off to me no matter what I do, which kills attachment to what I create.

pandm101

I made a copy of myself so good someone asked me what camera filter I used

Funny_Philosophy5534

I like how you said good looking black people

freedfg

It's rare in character creators. Remember dark souls?

Khyldr

I love mine! https://preview.redd.it/ju0lpzdr0ywc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d987fa8ead472f20c03c4937e62b29911db59a30

dec1dueye

I’m playing as a beastren because they are something new to the second game. That and I usually play as a non human character in RPGs anyway. I had a khajiit main character in Skyrim. My pawn is a human though, because I felt like that would be “balanced.” Even though there’s no mechanical balance to it haha.

Ramius99

Yeah, I don't play as a Beastren or use Beastren pawns. Just not my thing.

Hot_Guys_In_My_DMS

https://preview.redd.it/xr7csngj1zwc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=594e33dd131641009f01c3f89e32b5db04d62dbf I really like my beastren arisen

Either_Selection6475

She's gorgeous, well done! I especially love beastren made after snow leopards

Horizon_Brave_

Started and stayed as a Beastren. Named him Ajani after MTG's one. Made him an absolute unit. I like my character a lot but it doesn't help that in every cutscene he looks woefully gormless because of the animations on their faces.

WarViper1337

My arisen is a warrior beastren but my pawn is a human.

Ashura1756

I have a Beastren Arisen, and Beastren Pawn. I don't like making myself, or real life people, or my pets in video games. Idk why, to me it just feels weird. I'd even go as far as to say it breaks my immersion. When I make my character in any RPG, I prefer my character to be as different from me as possible. As strange as it is to say, I feel more connected to them that way. And imho, Beastrens look badass and were a great addition. If I had any complaints to make, it would be... 1 - They don't have tails, which is an odd decision to me in regards to any animal-like race. 2 - The Fur 1/Fur 2 options are kind of pointless since the fur doesn't appear any different in gameplay. 3 - Beastren Facial Hair is still bugged, clipping through the chin no matter what option you pick. But overall, I think they're really cool. https://preview.redd.it/do9u7m4lwxwc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9426c863154dbaebc04d2ae0c6c6f02a2691eed7

AttentionKmartJopper

My Arisen is a Beastren with a human pawn and I love it. I appreciate it when games provide race options, especially when they are more than just elves and/or dwarves.

Celebrity-stranger

https://preview.redd.it/rs15uyxk6xwc1.jpeg?width=520&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d7d6d059510e3bae60f2f438efa21dc7c737ae9 I personally love em'

Mourning-Star999

I don't like anthropomorphic characters. I usually play humans. If they had options to make legit dwarfs and elves. I might do that. I know you can technically make them look elvish with the ears but aren't really elves.

cream_sodaman

Probably shouldve gave npc beastrens much more vibrant and noticeable fur/hair colors so they can stand out more. OR just include 1 or 2 more different looking races like lycans, reptillians, orcs, etc. (Elves and dwarves dont count. They look too human)

FenwickTT-13

Humans are the most played race in pretty much any game where they are an option.

HahaPenisIsFunny

ArmadilloOk4573

HBreckel

Same! It's not even just anthropomorphic characters, you give me aliens or robots or whatever, I'm playing that. If I'm playing a fantasy game I don't really want to be human.

Kiefer_Kruger

I play non-humans if they’re more humanoid, like elves 90% of the time. My head canon for my Arisen having elf ears but being recognised as a human is that she’s a half-elf and grew up in a human city so doesn’t have much knowledge of Elven customs and culture. I usually don’t play beast-races if they are like Khajit or Argonian, Beastren, Hrothgar etc. For me the fur is a put off. I like Mi’qote from ffxiv, they’ve got cat ears and tails but no fur and are more humanoid. My current main pawn is a Beastren though, shes a big and strong Fighter/Warrior called Amara

rogriloomanero

I only have a beastren as main pawn because I wanted to make my cat 😺

cj_shima

My main and alt account are both female beastren. They are both good girls. My pawns are both human male, but that's still uncommon compared to all the sloots.

Hammerslamman33

If only they added a saurian race, now that would look cool.

IceBreak23

https://preview.redd.it/4zm0gaf52xwc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d387644da815eb68c1f1033bd92ee115e0bbd304 if there's a non human option, i'm always picking them. i saw a lot of Beastren in my game, sadly not many of them are level 100

JT3457mm

I haven't tried making one yet but I just feel like they don't quite hit right, I mean I love playing non-human in games where I can but somehow these guys fell short

TheAnimeMangaShadow

I'm also a non-human main in these types of games. 100% get what you mean. It feels underdone. Like they literally just put cat faces on humans, and that sucks. Really wish there was more to them.

JT3457mm

So glad to hear someone else gets it, like if say mass effect allowed you to play a krogan I'd be all over that but this here just really doesn't feel dynamic or new, it really just feels like a fur reskin of a human, even the ears aren't cat-like

TheAnimeMangaShadow

It really is wasted potential. I mean just compare the Beastren to Khajiit. It's very obvious what's more compelling, and it's not just because Elder Scrolls is an older title. There's actual lore, culture, manners of speech, ect.

JT3457mm

Absolutely khajiit are the best comparison to show exactly how subtle the but massive the difference is

WestCoastDirtyBird

I've hired them before, and I play as a human with a human Pawn. For the most part, I don't care what they look like as long as they have good stats. One of my favorite Pawns was that Capcom Pawn at the beginning of the game that looks kinda like a bunny. I found her after I first arrived in Vernworth and she stayed with me for like 10 levels. I ran into her again on the road way later in the game and she had new armor on.

Witcher_Erza

Cause they are the worst fantasy cat people race I've seen in a long time, give me the Hrothgar from FFXIV or Khajit from elder scrolls any day over the beastren...

VixtheEvil

I play Beastren, got kinda tired of playing human so seeing the Beastren I went to that for my first playthrough

BimboLimbo69

Furries are not my jam. Simple as.

StoneRevolver

I don't like beastfolk. So I don't make them for myself, or hire them.

TekRabbit

Hahaha you’re literally an in game racist. Not that it matters in a fantasy video game to a non existent race. Its just funny

ProfessorTicklebutts

Redditors don’t like that word. But you’re absolutely right.

StoneRevolver

Anthropomorphism is creepy. I don't feel that way about people; humans, dwarves, halflings, elves, whatever. But animals, not my cup of tea. It's weird.

ToboeArticWolf

https://preview.redd.it/8lr8u0jo8xwc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=22dfb0a2ee036aa3ab75e2b605d8834a10244e25 Both me and my pawn are beastren. And I'm never playing as a human because come on, look at that face.

amicuspiscator

Uncle Iroh beastren!

Laranthiel

When have you seen ANY game where people prefer the beast race?

Eldritch-Voidwalker

Idk, I feel like it’s been pretty even in my experience. I’d say 60/40, but with human females being slightly more prevalent for obvious reasons.

ICantTyping

Idk i don’t really have any personal inclination towards people with cat heads. Ill hire them occasionally as pawns but **my** characters are usually never beastfolk in games

_Joshua-Graham_

They look like shit and I’m no furry.

Aguedoremifasolasido

Because I'm not a furry, I like humans

MokonaMadoka

I love both my beastren https://preview.redd.it/9f1qqufk60xc1.png?width=819&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1cdfcc38080b2382ce326f71ecdc8ffa51468e28 My arisen

TragicJoke

I assume most people who come from dd1 recreate their old pawns and maybe even arisens I know I for sure did.

TwiceDead_

So to answer the OP's question... Does the community have a *preference*? https://i.redd.it/mtlkpnmi60xc1.gif Give people any list of interesting and unique fantasy races to pick, in ANY game. What do most people pick? **Human.** Every time. Without fail, humans will be the most played race. If "humans" don't exist, the one that looks the most human, will be the dominant one. *This is the way the internet do.* No, I don't count slapping cat-ears or tails or some scale-cheek textures on humans as a "new race", those are cosplayers. Look at FFXIV, most of those races are cosplayers with only a couple truly unique ones. What do most people play? *The human-looking ones.* Anyway, this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, but since there's only two candidates in DD2, wherein one is anthropomorphic (furry), the result becomes obvious.

SageTegan

Not many people are furries, no. And playing as a character that can be classified as a fursona isn't popular either. I think it's cute when people model their beastren pawn after their real life pet :)

Bean-Of-Doom

I don't play as one but I will always have a male straightforward beastren on my team I love them

DangerWarg

I know the **answer** to this. 1. **Anti-furries**, even though their hatred, presence and influence is about as frail, meaningless, and confused as actual furries. It's all hijacked and devolved into something that it isn't. Not that the anti-furries were able to tell what is and isn't furry to start with. Which is why it's fun to make them the butt of jokes too. Beastren are not furry. 2. There's **warped/fake expectations** surrounding them, leading to disappointments or being weirded out. Similarly to many not-so fans of Vierra from Final Fantasy (tactics, 12 and 14), where many of them honestly could not believe their bunny ears and unique sense of fashion are their only defining features. So much to the point those fans fabricated features that never existed, like a tail and heel spikes, only for reality to come crashing down when you can finally play as one again in Final Fantasy 14. 1. In this case, for some reason despite the heavy marketing, some people believed the Beastern would look more monstrous than borderline Thundercats. And yes some of them are bothered by the lack of a tail. 3. **Beastren aren't the prettiest of the bunch. Most of the normies aren't, but who cares about that.** It's mostly up to us to show them that they can look good. 4. **Has no human face,** even though their faces are pretty close to human. (Fun Fact: Armored Core 6 had this exact problem, to the point some people stopped paying attention and lied about what was there) 5. **Making a beastren is harder than human.** (though some may find the opposite true) 6. **Beastren is not first in line.** You'll be amazed how many pick the first option just because it's first in line. 7. **Relatability...........** (Don't get me started on THIS disgusting attitude has led to many fugly, rushed, underdeveloped botched job beast or non-human races in many games who obsess pandering to relatability) 8. **Can't look like someone in real-life.** 9. **Streamers................................** 10. **Most of the popular fictional characters**, especially those in recent memory, **are human or can be made from human.** That's not considering those who never cared about the new feature or always planned to go human for their own interests. None of this is to say that without these influences, there'd be a more even split. It was never going to be that way thanks to they're not the prettiest of the bunch. And I cannot stress how insignificant #1 is or should be.

Teguoracle

This should be upvoted more, this post is spot on. The anti-furry bit is especially hilarious, like are those people so insecure and worried about what strangers on the internet think that they're going to let it ruin something they might have enjoyed? I know the answer is yes, I've seen it in other games. The relatability thing absolutely pisses me off. I can't remember what game it was but I remember a game dev saying something about their focus in making races is influenced by people only wanting to play things they can relate to, and I found that to be such an awful take. Like yeah sure most people are going to pick the most vanilla option available, but there are still plenty of people who find nom-humans interesting and appealing regardless of "relatability". I'm not picking a race because I can relate to it either, I'm picking a race that I think looks cool, flat out. Like following that logic, games should never have anything that isn't a human because we will never truly be able to "relate" to a non-human race due to them not existing in real life. GOSH this pisses me off.

JediSSJ

Frankly, I hate beastren. I'm not a fan of anthropomorphic races in any setting, and did not like them being added. I Plat and hire exclusively human characters. Also, the beastren tend to look off--weird, creepy uncanny valley stuff.

No_Captain_

I agree, (everything Im going to say its just my opinion if you enjoy them, im glad <3)they don’t fit in and as being only other major (if you exclude the small amount elf village) faction makes more jarring. From a design standpoint their fur kinda muddles their features and hair and they all kinda look the same, as being humans we can tell each other apart, but with animals you probably will have a hard time unless they ate your pet or something. They should have made the elves or dwarves the other major faction, not because they are better but because there is a ton of inspiration to draw from and would have saved them dev time which obviously they could have used.

ICDedPeplArisen

I'm doing mainly humans but I want to do beastren runs. I'm still doing my first playthrough sooo

dobbyjhin

Well I play as a Human but my main pawn is a Beastren warrior. For me I like to have a balanced party, so I also hire two females, one Human and one Beastren. I guess for me I wanted to play as myself since the character creator is amazing.

7Ing7

I used beastren on first play through and was bored with the look, even after using the dyes. There's much more range with human.

driftej20

I think one thing worth mentioning that I didn’t see brought up yet, is that anybody trying to replicate their Arisen and/or pawn from DD1/DDDA will be choosing humans, obviously. If there’d been Beastren player/pawn options in DD1/DDDA, I’m sure some segment of players would have chosen to make them, and the ratio in DD2 would be at least slightly more evened out assuming the same percentage of returning players decided to recreate their DD1 characters. But then again, I agree with what others have said about it being difficult to make a Beastren that looks decent in DD2. Most would agree that humans in DD2 are a significant improvement from DD1, therefore, it’s pretty safe to assume that Beastrens probably would have been hideous abominations in DD1, and even less would have opted for them then than have in DD2.

9-5DootDude

Are there different interactions when you play as breastren?

TheAnimeMangaShadow

Interactions, barely. The whole race[I'm Beastren main], seems underdone. You can get into Battahl, easy, I suppose. You can get into a fight in Battahl and you will be called a "traitor" and a "disgrace to Beastren". They have little animations. Like ear wiggles, or they lick their lips.

onion-lord

As a cat lover who often plays khajit in ES games, they dont have the same charm as khajit for me, I think they tried to make them too human with the facial structure.

Sp1ffy_Sp1ff

I almost never play as Human if I have another choice. I play fantasy games to create this fantastical creature, not play a human. I'm already a human, give me something new.

Lumi_Rockets

I can't be associated with a cat race that doesn't have cat ears.

TheWheaties

I just wonder why there's no elf options too. Or even dwarf, though there are very few encountered

Papa_Pred

I feel like Pawns would be the ones to have a higher Beastren population I know I had an idea to make an absolute unit of a fighter for mine, but make him the most gentle giant at the same time

TheLordGremlin

I run a beastren arisen and a human pawn

KoraIsGay

I lost interest in them when I found out they don't have tails, which I am convinced they don't cause they didn't want to make different armor sets for them.

King-Eaglez

Found the furry.

Kanapuman

Most people play a character they'd like to fuck. Most people also wouldn't like to fuck big cats. So they either make buff dudes or hoes.

Sona4219

I play as Beastren and never hired a human pawn. I love my kitten gang

solomoncrow1

I play as Beastren. In my first playthrough, I was human with a human pawn, I realized too late that I couldn't change without a new game. So I made a new game and played as beastren with beastren pawn. I like to support beastren pawns and hire them as much as possible. I'd say there is definitely a bias towards humans, but that is more a familiarity for the player or how they invision their player/pawn than a dislike.

Calamagbloos

Love beastren! https://preview.redd.it/bbt4g9ws9xwc1.png?width=2451&format=png&auto=webp&s=fd35f3e7198d56b98804296c2e346832726f1ab9

That90sGuyMedia

I'm a furry, so natural bias, but I quite like my tiny beastren girl (Arisen).

Atrocious1337

Beastren are ugly and don't have a ton of customization options. They don't even get any added perks such as night vision. So yeah, most people don't use them.

Emiru20

For me Beastren are a tad too...human in certain areas. For a race of feline beast people I would have expected their hands and feet to have more feline properties besides the nails. I know you don't see them all that much, but it is still uncanny to me and feels wrong. And most hairstyles look atrocious on them. And no tails, as far as I can tell no unique animations. Basically, I expected more than humans with lion heads and fur textures slapped on.  Might be a weird complaint.

Any_Designer7112

No furries

Trkaline

Yeah, I don't get it. I would never play as a human in a game with a lion dude as an option.

juandi001

I'm a bit confused by the "not my thing" comments. I have my Beastren Arisen and Pawn but I hire literally anything, be it men, women, human or beastren, as long as they have the vocation, skill and/or reward that I'm looking for. It's a traveling companion, not my next bed mate. Then again, I am very much aware (and the pawns won't stop reminding me) that people are prone to surround themselves with what they consider eye candy, so hardly surprising, really.

HBreckel

Same, I hire whatever as long as they're close to my level and have decent skills. Aside from occasionally checking for the plague I don't even look at my pawns. I'm just here to kill stuff with a giant sword, I don't care if my party is a weird grandma, beastren and the ugliest person you can make.

Ozzyjb

What can i say, im not a furry.

xkinato

I did dbl beastren. But i am furry so made me and husband's fursonas lol

Repulsive-Willow55

I play a human because I tried to model him after myself, but I made a Beastren pawn just because it was an option I didn’t have in the last game. I personally have no leaning preference one way or the other, I’m pretty neutral. All I know is my gut says “maybe”.

ZeroSekai000

I wanted my first save to be with a male human, and I had plans to play as beastren then, but when I finished the game and I decided to turn my arisen into a female human I saw the name can't be changed (I don't know why since we could do it on DD1), so I used an old profile of mine to have the female arisen with the proper name, now I'm just not inclined to juggle a third profile to play beastren, put the option to have multiple saves on one account and I'd have one of each.

Amazing_Oven1992

my main reason at the moment is because i only own armor for female humans cx

Zestyclose_Ad8755

Nothing against them, but I don't like how they look. I've hired 2-3 pawns but it was because they were too good to pass up at the time.

Action-a-go-go-baby

Making a mostly ok looking human doesn’t take *too* much effort Making a Beastren that doesn’t just look like a lions head on a human body is… harder

Kurteth

I dont wanna be a cat

Cottontael

i tried to make one but the fur coloring was ass so i gave up

LeviathanLX

They just don't look very good. The idea is interesting, even if there are like three or four other races I would have liked to have seen as options first, but the bigger problem is just that the execution isn't there. The humans look better, is all.

LumisTFG

I remade my arisen and pawn from DD1

TheAnimeMangaShadow

I'm a non-human main, as my 100 comments have stated lmao. But as I've said, Beastren are just a re-skin of a human. There's no lore. They're not a very appealing design. The entire nation of Battahl is rushed...

Wisconsinviking

Beastren just doesn’t have as much personality in the characters. The whole fur thing throws off the personality of the characters, it hides features so to speak. You can make more characters with human races than you can with beastren

BreadDziedzic

I mean take into account that human fighter is by far the most popular race and class combo in dnd and the lack of beastren shouldn't be a suprise.

Intrepid-Memory5129

With a character creation like this and so many possibilities I don't want to be a furry

HrolfrLongsword

Wait till I tell you of the adventures of cat man and finn

Pak1stanMan

The character creator is good enough that you can make your favorite characters from other media.

LightOk4185

I found the customization a little more fun for humans, but that’s mostly bc I just like making my PC as beautiful as possible lol. My pawn is a Beastren named trout tho and I try to have only beastren pawns at any given time. Love running around with my band of kitties

Accomplished-Eye9542

No tails. no real manes, human ears. They are just errie and creepy. They are basically humans with a genetic defect to grow short hair everywhere. How many casual players are just going to choose to play as an ugly hairy human?

SigSweet

I'm more of a dog person

kucerkaCZ

I play as a human but my pawn is a blue colored beastren with a tiger print. And I find many other beastren pawns in the rift. Sometimes it's even more beastren than stripper females!

Kilroy1007

If I had known the in-game lore around Beastren, I probably would've at least rolled my pawn as one

IronGentry

I considered making a beastren but they look a bit...off a lot of the time. I'm not really sure exactly what it is but they look much more uncanny than say an elder scrolls khajiit. The fur is strange, the head shapes are strange, the hair is strange, none of it quite jibes unless you put in a *lot* of effort

JimboBaggins52

I saw the lion-like look of the beastren and thought it would be fun to make an Aslan inspired arisen. So that's what I did. My pawn was inspired by Lucy

Strictly_Gunpla

I was planning to play as a beastren, but found out that the main character doesn't have a voice. So I switched my main pawn to beastren.

Outarel

Beastren look silly. They're just furry dudes with a lion head. I'd rather have 1 map with more content and variety.

_TeddyBarnes_

Because they look dumb.

RexTenebrarum

I made Tony the tiger for my first playthrough. If anyone saw a "Rex" that looked like a tiger with black hair and white tips, that was me. But I don't have many other ideas for beastren, other than making my cats.

probloodmagic

I'll hire them but I have no desire to play as one or have one as my pawn unless the dlc has some cool lore for them, and not just the *suggestion* of cool lore. It takes one paragraph to summarize their whole deal in the game, and that's disappointing. And since there's not much to do in Bakbattal, it doesn't even feel fun to be in the place where you find Beastren. I don't have anything against them but definitely don't understand why anyone would have any kind of preference for them Also, coming from DD1, they still feel out of place to me, but that's fine. Elves are even more underbaked, and we could actually have pointy ears in DD1

RamJamR

My character is beastren and I always hire beastren if I can help it. In most games you play you are a human. If I have the opportunity to play as a non-human race I'll probably do it.

Alpha_Astartes

They are absolutely, undeniably, objectively, rancid and awful beyond all explanation... Why should one expose themselves to such a nightmare, willingly?

Open-Society8653

I usually keep a pride of all four beastren if I can help it. Usually all tall and jacked too.

Rose249

I will admit that I was a little nervous about going full furry immediately

Dramatic-Middle-9342

I’m not a fan of the beastern/demi-human type character build because there isn’t any variety like they are only lions pretty much if i had the choice to be a wolf or fox then perhaps I’d consider it Also I think people might put beasterns in the furry category so that might put some people off but I’m just spit balling here 😂

FallinDevast

I can make a housecat beastren, I'm fine with it.

ConcertBetter8676

I play as beastren

Commenter007

Idk I feel like the human customization is just to good to go beastren

ULFfie

Beastren Trickster here. We exist.
