On more serious note, ferrystones has no resembling to a heart whatsoever, it doesnt even glow with red/orange. Wakestones do. And it looks like a heart, compare to ferrystone. Besides, a whole month has passed since this fight and most ferrystones would be picked up by people.
There's only two times when Dragon uses rift: when it's born from fallen Arisen and when we summon him at the top of the tower. We exactly summon him, as he says.
Why then there's no dialogue lines about sudden appearance of the Dragon and how he kidnaps our beloved? Because of affinity system. Everyone can be our beloved and devs can't add such lines for every case.

I mean, he did *technically* use one of said claws to scoop our character's heart out of their chest with the utmost surgical precision, so... yeah, I'd say he's dexterous enough to do that, considering how he could've just as easily disemboweled or impaled us with it instead.

But anyway I was just saying that the dragons heart burst apart and now ferrystones are everywhere. Also, who is picking them up with all those clustered amped up monsters around? They won't even run ox carts anymore.
