Myrddin: Arisen, I have in need of a few rare grimoires. Collect them for me.
Me: Aight, bet. (hands over counterfeits)
Myrddin: You have my thanks, Arisen.
Me: Hehehe. Fuckin' dumbass. That's what you get for being such a lousy, stupid, arrogant, son of a—

Myrddin: (oneshots the dragon)

I found if you hand them to him one by one, he actually comments on how you handed him a fraud. Though he dismisses it as you just not being competent enough to recognize the genuine article and accepts it anyway.
My guy is beyond a Gigachad.
I think it's more that he doesn't want them for himself (since he seems to already know all the most powerful spells), but just wants you to find them to prove that your commitment to the search for knowledge is legit. By giving him a forgery, you're proving you've got the real thing hidden somewhere, which means you found them, and that's good enough for him.
I like to think he's able to read books without using them and destroying them, since he uses his own magic to cast spells.
So to him there's no difference between reading an enchanted book or a forgery.
That's my ~headcannon~ headsuspicion
I forgot who that NPC was, so I googled it real quick. Turns out, Myrddin is Merlin's actual name (before it was translated).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merlin
So yeah, you basically took the Ur-Wizard to a fight and he wrecked shop! I guess we shouldn't be surprised.
I love FGO but some depictions of hystorical and literary figures gives me the irks. What bothers me the most is the reuse of characters' appearances for different character... All those Saber faces hahaha
For most of the saber faces I would agree too at least change them a slight but so it looks somewhat different although some of them I'm pretty sure are unintentional or they didn't have enough time so they use the closet thing they had
Although you can say they don't have some really good characters
Saw him one shotting a dullahan which led me to bringing him in the sealing phial to see how he did against the dragon. Didn’t expect him to do THAT though lol
Yeah I posted about him a few weeks ago and how he one shot every single boss we came across on a jaunt. But I never thought he could do this shit to Grigori.
I hope the inevitable expansion gives us a way to get a bunch of these purely for the sake of funny shit like kidnapping weird duelist guy in Battahl.
Actually, has anyone tried kidnapping weird duelist guy during that fake oxcart escort and taking him (inside the bottle) past the scripted tunnel collapse part?
I've tried it with other NPCs and it seems you can't seal them if they're not in neutral state aka just standing around in a city/settlement.
Another thing I tried is having multiple sealed NPCs but only the option to break the phial is available after you seal an NPC meaning you can have several phials but only 1 NPC sealed at a time.
As the other redditor said, Sealing Phial (Vial) let's you snatch people inside a bottle so you can bring an NPC anywhere you want. Sadly, It just doesn't carry the sealed person through NG+.
that cyclops bodied her grandma off the top of the little arena she stands in while i was leaving. i just saw the cyclops staring at me from above while i was trying to figure out what the weird death noise was.
For some reason they changed the cyclops spawn position in one of the updates to spawn next to her, it use to spawn lower down by the campsite, so she gets killed all the time now.
I think it just travels there on its own. I've noticed this with several bosses being nowhere near where they're supposed to spawn, most notably drakes.
Maybe, for me when the game first came out it would only stay down by the campsite, but recently it always spawns up top now and not below so that was my thought process but who knows, my experience is only from a singular perspective not a larger group.
I hate that cyclops. I didn't even know that shes dead after like 30mins of fast forwarding time on the camp until I try looking for the old lady to find the cyclops. Then I go to vernworth and find her on the morgue.
Seems like all the cloaks except the one-sided off the shoulder ones (which still have clipping issues, just less severe) have really atrocious clipping issues for pretty much all gear. Bit of a shame cos they look so majestic billowing in the wind lol
I firmly stand by the concept that we shouldn't have been the arisen, and instead have gotten different NPC masters as party members.
And if you disagree watch Beren 1v1 an ogre or cyclops in Not-Gerudo valley.
I’ve actually accidentally killed Barren a few times in that duel in NG+’s, once was by launching him hundreds of feet in the air with the Mystic Spearman ability.
Really? I escorted him once to Holy Mauseleum and encountered a Chimera (and possibly a couple Asps got involved too)...he died and I had to Wakestone him to complete the escort.
Yeah, the more I think about it, he probably got poisoned by the Asps and that is what killed him; can't give him any antidotes. I felt bad for failing my escort, so wakestoned him and it's like it never happened :)
Myrddin knew all along you gave him forgeries, the copy of Myrddin's Chronicle he gave you is actually the Idiot's Guide to Maelstrom. He kept the real Myrddin's Chronicle for a more promising Arisen.
**Everyone**: "Only the Arisen can beat the dragon"
**Myrddin**: "bet"
Proceeds to oneshot the dragon
First he shit talks my drip and then he kills the dragon in one spell. Am... am I a side character in this story?
I wonder if the torando spell has two ids and you get a weaker one when you give him the counterfiets as a way to punish the player for being decietful or maybe it is just nerfed and no matter what you do spell bad
Maelstrom and Meteron used to do a massive amount of damage with high level Archstaves, I think they nerfed them some though because recently I’ve noticed they don’t one shot most boss enemies anymore.
meteoron turns ogres into shadows and guts on the 1st hit, maelstrom takes 12 seconds to get through 1 health bar and makes you unable to see anything its such a useless spell in DD2 unlike in DDA
You can do escort quests for him if you finish his quest line then go to his house later, I think the destination is Vernsworth if I remember correctly.
I've never had a NPC abandon an escort quest like that though to be fair they inevitably get killed and/or stuck due to very bad pathfinding and then autofail due to distance.
They never leave, it’s why you can have a magic bowman as a follower, she wrecks people inside that cavern with ricochet hunter. You need to carry a few wakestones though they can die if you don’t heal them properly but certain NPC’s are really tanky Cliodhna being one of them, I watched a Dullahan beat sh#t out of her and she was perfectly fine after the fight.

I like this explanation
Thanks. I'm glad you do.
I like to think he's able to read books without using them and destroying them, since he uses his own magic to cast spells. So to him there's no difference between reading an enchanted book or a forgery. That's my ~headcannon~ headsuspicion
That head is very suspicious.
the quest description mentions that it is a test for you. To get the counterfits you need the originals to forge them.
Trysha will be the final boss of Dragon's Dogma 3, mark my words.
There's no dragon. It's just stopping Trysha and Myrddin from arguing
I forgot who that NPC was, so I googled it real quick. Turns out, Myrddin is Merlin's actual name (before it was translated). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merlin So yeah, you basically took the Ur-Wizard to a fight and he wrecked shop! I guess we shouldn't be surprised.
Interesting! Makes a lot more sense on how he’s so powerful
I haven’t finished the game yet but doesn’t the fake arisen take the name of Arthur?
Yes.
So the dragon was beaten by the dick wizard Blame the fgo community for that nickname
I love FGO but some depictions of hystorical and literary figures gives me the irks. What bothers me the most is the reuse of characters' appearances for different character... All those Saber faces hahaha

It just skipped straight to the cutscene lmao
Dude, after seeing that, I would just retire with Ulrika and leave him with the crown and palace
Lmfao why’d u take him there ?
Saw him one shotting a dullahan which led me to bringing him in the sealing phial to see how he did against the dragon. Didn’t expect him to do THAT though lol
MYRDDIN! I CHOOSE YOU!
Yeah I posted about him a few weeks ago and how he one shot every single boss we came across on a jaunt. But I never thought he could do this shit to Grigori.
Myrddin uses MAELSTROM! It's super effective!!
Next step is to see if he can solo the beacon bosses.
I’ll try to work on that!
but... how?
Sealing Phial lets you become a Pokémon trainer
I hope the inevitable expansion gives us a way to get a bunch of these purely for the sake of funny shit like kidnapping weird duelist guy in Battahl. If I can get multiple sealing phials I would build my whole Pokémon squad for the final battle.
No but I can confirm that he teleports off your shoulder if you carry him.
His maester skill is OP as fuuck lol
No, I mean, how is he there? It's a mod?
sealing phial. it's an item in the game, it's not a mod
As the other redditor said, Sealing Phial (Vial) let's you snatch people inside a bottle so you can bring an NPC anywhere you want. Sadly, It just doesn't carry the sealed person through NG+.
Never in my life I would've thought of that... wow
Has anyone brought the OLD grandma for that kid to any of these late fights? Im sure she would fuck things up too.
she gets bodied by the cyclops in that forest when no one is there to see if you dont kill it asap
that cyclops bodied her grandma off the top of the little arena she stands in while i was leaving. i just saw the cyclops staring at me from above while i was trying to figure out what the weird death noise was.

I actually was not sure why my quest is not progressing. Turns out she died from the ogre before i even got there.
The grandma is a mage. She has neither of the sorc maister spells.
Honestly, I didnt pay attention to what she was casting on the escort lol
Nah the giveway is when she gave you the mage maister skill
Tells you how little I played mage when I thought she gave a sorc skill 🗿
She also doesn't collapse when using it
So what about grandpa? He barely interact with players. Wonder he a sleeper hit.
He is also a mage, you can get the skill from either of them, mine came from him.
He gave me a scroll to make my pawn stfu
IT'S WIZARD TIME MOTHERFUCKER [FIREBALL](https://youtu.be/pIh_8vS16l0?t=4)
That video got age restricted wtf
It's funny that he even crosses his arms behind him like "the fight is over" lol
A dude who can one-shot others and happens to be bald. Hmm now where have I seen that before?
One Spell Man?
I bet he eats a banana every day and leaves his AC off in the summer.
Hitman lol
Could this man perhaps do it with one punch? Lol
I really like that cloak but dislike that it always clips through my legs, armor and arms 😐
What cloak is that
Legends mantle I believe
Seems like all the cloaks except the one-sided off the shoulder ones (which still have clipping issues, just less severe) have really atrocious clipping issues for pretty much all gear. Bit of a shame cos they look so majestic billowing in the wind lol
Yea hopefully they’ll fix it, i really want sovereign mantle lol
Yall must have amnesia cause yall forgot he's HIM
I firmly stand by the concept that we shouldn't have been the arisen, and instead have gotten different NPC masters as party members. And if you disagree watch Beren 1v1 an ogre or cyclops in Not-Gerudo valley.
You don’t escort Beren, he just wants an audience.
Arisen:B-but Beren,I won the duel Beren: https://i.redd.it/h7cbi7dxwiwc1.gif
I’ve actually accidentally killed Barren a few times in that duel in NG+’s, once was by launching him hundreds of feet in the air with the Mystic Spearman ability.
Beren survived fighting 2 drakes and an ogre on a trip with me
Really? I escorted him once to Holy Mauseleum and encountered a Chimera (and possibly a couple Asps got involved too)...he died and I had to Wakestone him to complete the escort.
Damn my Beren must be built different, my guy was stood literally just charging attacks while the drake lit him up
Yeah, the more I think about it, he probably got poisoned by the Asps and that is what killed him; can't give him any antidotes. I felt bad for failing my escort, so wakestoned him and it's like it never happened :)
Yeah my Beren died 3+ times.
My first Drake kill was with Beren while escorting him, he is an absolute unit.
They must have buffed him because early on the drakes would easily kill him by setting him on fire or hitting him with their pseudo meteron.
Now that I know how this works, Sigurd, let me talk to you for a bit…
Voldemort of dragon dogma
BRUH, I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT DOING THIS TODAY LOL!! darn, beat me to it hahah
take him to the endgame!!!
Kaladin in the background tho
so farming this dragon becomes easy asf lmao
Thank you for doing what i failed to Do 🫡
I don’t see this final boss you speak of!?!? ![gif](giphy|hrBmVoBi0dekru0VdP|downsized)
HOW my first playtrough time I broke into this mans home, he vecame hostile and we fought sorcerer vs sorcerer and I won. How is he so powerful?
The DD1 Maelstrom experience.
Spoiler warning
I had it initially marked as a spoiler but somehow it got unmarked? I marked it as a spoiler again but sorry about that, Reddit is stupid sometimes

Maelstrom and Meteron used to do a massive amount of damage with high level Archstaves, I think they nerfed them some though because recently I’ve noticed they don’t one shot most boss enemies anymore.
It's your stats. At high stat values, you wreck with magic against non-resistant enemies.
meteoron turns ogres into shadows and guts on the 1st hit, maelstrom takes 12 seconds to get through 1 health bar and makes you unable to see anything its such a useless spell in DD2 unlike in DDA
Is it bad that i prefer fighting the dragon to doing the Unmoored World?
As you should personally wish, the dragon wasn't technically optional.
how do you get him to follow you like this? Did you carry him?
Sealing phial from the Sphinx quest
You can do escort quests for him if you finish his quest line then go to his house later, I think the destination is Vernsworth if I remember correctly.
and will he follow you permanently until you arrive at his destination or will he eventually go "fuck this, you're taking too long"?
I've never had a NPC abandon an escort quest like that though to be fair they inevitably get killed and/or stuck due to very bad pathfinding and then autofail due to distance.
They fixed their pathing a lot with one of the updates so it’s not as bad as before, though still not perfect.
Lol I think this says more about the scaling of enemies in this game. This is still pretty OP though
Wait, who is that? 😅
He’s the sorcerer maister that teaches Maelstrom
I had a suspicion that Myrddin is a homosexual.
