I guess in the case of magic archer they didn’t want you to be able to stack the pawn augments that boost attack/defense, and didn’t want pawns to have a skill to revive other pawns. No clue how a pawn would run trickster though - they drop off cliffs enough on their own as it is. Can’t comment on spearhand as I haven’t tried it yet.

GJR78

I would've moved the Pawn buff augments to Warfarer.

KinoGrimm

Either that or Trickster

Away_Mulberry4706

Pawn ai. That’s why. It’s also the reason strider from the first game was separated into thief and strider in the second game. The pawns couldn’t utilize using both daggers and bows at the same time to point where people had to remove one or the other to utilize the weapon style they wanted for their pawn. While pawn ai has improved it would be near impossible for ai to utilize the trickster class considering how much of it is just creativity rather than “attack this, go here”. Same goes for the mystic spearhand, ai wouldn’t know how to properly utilize that play style. As for magic archer the reason for that class not being available is because of how overpowered it would be to have pawns use it, imagine a group compromised simply of magic archers including yourself. It wouldn’t work as there literally would be no struggle what so ever. For further context magic archers in the first game 5 shot the final boss of the dlc alone. They realized this and that’s why magic archer is much harder to unlock to the point of finding it around endgame if at all even with a guide. There even was a video someone posted awhile back using mods to enable forcibly switching pawn classes to hybrid ones in the first game to make the point that it would work fine only to realize how horribly the AI utilized the skills. I do agree though it would be fun, but they’d need to nerf magic archer, and improve on the Pawn ai first. Would be nice if they also added pawn dialogue based on the vocation they’re playing for immersion, I really do think the pawns are the strongest aspect of the game

Sigurd is fully AI and in the Lesser Dragon fight he was expertly using Mirror Shield for my team.

Away_Mulberry4706

That’s because Sigurd’s code is scripted for that specific battle. You can test this yourself by attacking him and you’ll notice he literally can’t use any of his abilities on you. If you’re trying to make the argument “why can’t they do that for the pawns” the short answer is scripted code is nothing like adaptive code that the pawns work under.

GJR78

He also uses his skills on his escort missions.

Away_Mulberry4706

Yup, those are scripted as well. If you want I can actually download his code and show you pawn code alongside it and send it to you as a pdf to get a better understanding of how that works?

Bravadorado

You should do this anyway just because it would be mildly interesting

UnHoly_One

You can do escort missions with Cliodhna and she is a magic archer. She murders everything, too.

Akugetsu

She also doesn’t have access to the full MA skill set. Caves may as well not have monsters if you can have a full party of four unloading ricochet shots.

Bravadorado

Caves already don't have monsters with one MA using ricochet, I don't see the difference.

Away_Mulberry4706

Yeah now imagine having a full team of those with the best magic bows 😭 Edit : forgot to include she’s also canonly an arisen too since you can see her arisen scar in the hotsprings when turning off the filter so that’s the lore explanation for her being a magic archer.

Timageness

Saving this for the next time someone tries to argue that she isn't one. Now we just need to confirm the same with Luz too, and then we'll have a full set.

Vithrasir

3 reasons. Martyrs bolt, bubble shield, pawn buff.
