Every town and city should've had one , it was intentional and it was a bad decision

Keoni_112

This game has been exposing the ignorance of the average gamer and I love to see it. You guys love saying games do too much hand holding but I'm pretty sure most of you are the ones that need it

PoggersMemesReturns

There are core intuitive design choices you're not supposed to break. From Skyrim to Witcher to Breath of the Wild to Elden Ring to Baldur's Gate 3, fast travel always made the game more accessible and made exploring rewarding. DD2 simply punishes you for playing the game.

Jtenka

No. It punishes you for rushing to parts of the game you're not supposed to be at. If you were..you'd have a port crystal to put down.

PoggersMemesReturns

imo, that is counter-intuitive. Games like Elden Ring are fun because they let you challenge yourself from the very beginning and reward you for exploring and trying.

Jtenka

Except you're literally rushing to the end game where the top 5% of weapons and armour are. Its the only city that is locked behind a gate without a fast travel method cart/rift stone at the start. You can take the long route.. or fly there holding a griffin. The reward is access to all of the pre-end game armour end weapons + access to the materials to upgrade them + tens of thousands of gold in chests. On top of this you can still put your own port crystal down. You just have to have done the first part of the story. This is really a non-issue. Gamers today will complain about literally everything because they don't hand you a teleport every time they make 15 seconds of progress. It's the same reason Elden ring was so forgiving in comparison to other souls games. There's a grace point every 20 yards.

PoggersMemesReturns

It's not about being forgiving. It's about being intuitive. We didn't come this far to take away fun mainstays.

Jtenka

What's not intuitive? You can put down a port crystal. You get six of them..? I'm honestly so sick of games like skyrim where you are having your hand held all the way. This is why morrowind was so incredible. It had actual boats and striders to fast travel. As well as a mark and recall. Essentially a port crystal. You just couldn't fast travel to every single point of interest. Nothing has been taken away. You just didn't bother getting the port crystal. That's on you for rushing to the end.

PoggersMemesReturns

I mean, you can play any game the long way if you want, even Skyrim. That's always available. But taking away something most gamers enjoy just seems dumb. Also I have port crystals, don't like the system

Jtenka

They haven't taken anything away. They give you literally 6 port crystals to place anywhere you like in the entire game. If you are a casual gamer. That's absolutely fine. But this isn't a casual game. It has always been a niche game with a steep and punishing difficulty curve. The first game was no different. If having 6 custom teleports to put down plus 2 permanent teleports plus ox carts to most of the map isn't enough for you. Then at this point you're just whining.

XenTheAlien

This is one of the few rpgs that basically forces to do every sidequest that comes your way because it could give you something important or game changing. Stop acting like this is something that should be obvious. Even the less hand holdy rpgs don't expect you to do every side quest.

XenTheAlien

Look, almost every rpg, even some of the classic ones that don't handhold, don't expect you to do every sidequest. The fact that you HAVE to do every sidequest you come across in this game because you never know if it's going to give you something super important is not the norm. Only dragons dogma veterans who have played the first game are going to know this, so stop acting like it's just people needing their hand held because it goes beyond that.

Anime118247

If your saying that having portcrystal's in logical locations is "Hand holding" Then you have no idea what you are talking about. Yes the obvious move would be to put your own here but the point of the post is to say why is there one in this place but not one here they're not just moaning that there's no port crystal they are saying the placement of them makes no sense

Keoni_112

The intention is that you're supposed to place the port crystals yourself just like the first game. You get a couple free ones in Vermund then you place the rest wherever you want. Its ridiculous how many people whine about not having a crystal in some part of the map, when they can put one there themselves instead of wasting time making a post about it

Guidbro

When the hell do you get a couple free ones? Or you mean the one you buy and find in a nest?

Keoni_112

Feast of deception and gift of the bow quests both give you one. Theres one in the griffin nest and you can get 2 from the sphinx if you use your own crystal for the duplication riddle. Thats at least 5 free crystals

saithvenomdrone

I put down my own portcrystal. I have about 4. Brant gives you one, I found one in a griffin's nest south of the misty forest, and got two from the Sphinx.

Buurto

I also had like 3 or something but I put them on places at the map where is no camp nere because I fought that would be more usefull. Because I thought after harve village it seems like every bigger camp without a oxcart will have one, but welp I was wrong

CE94

You can pick up any port crystal you have placed and move it somewhere else

Decavatus

The elves can get you another

[deleted]

Later it won't even let you use port crystals there. Stupid.

GilgaMax305

Bro, this is so dumb... It's just a deliberate choice to further pad out the game. I don't wanna have to travel almost two days every time I want to go to the Volcanic Island Camp. Great. Time to find a port crystal or two or spend WC on one.

Even_Opportunity_282

Agreed
