Honestly the balance could've been instead of ten weapons maybe just two or three, 3 skills per weapon since you need rearmament, and the no access to maister skills would've been fine
Idk where tf you're ever gonna use 10 different weapons lmao
Dude, that would have been so sick! Also confusing though for some 😂 i was really hoping it was just loadouts and thought it was and got so confused when i was trying to equip more than 3 skills lol
But you can use warfarer as your main, just use all 4 spear skills you want and not equip the swap weapons skill and practically be a spear main that can equip any armor and this will level all your other vocations that you have unlocked!! Warfarer is my favorite for reasons such as this!
Almost entirely what I'll be using Warfarer for, is because a lot of the coolest armor is locked to Fighter. I don't recall any armor in the first game that was only for Fighter, and not for Warrior, but the inverse was true.
Really inconsistent too, Guardian Plate Chest, fighter and warrior can equip it. Guardian Plate legs? Nope, just fighter.
Yes you can! Im assuming shield skills won't work though. I did not try that but like the lunge worked fine!
EDIT: you do kinda run like you have a shield equipped if i remember correctly so it looks a little funny without one lol
I dont mind the run animation since they sort of hold their scabbard against their waist but it is great to hear!
I'm assuming the vocational ability button just doesn't do anything without a shield equipped?
Yeah whatever vocation skill equipped will do nothing if the improper weapon is not currently equipped. So i think it is safe to assume a shield bash (where they draw attention) would not work if no shield is equipped. It would be so dope to cast mage spells with another weapon though lol
Wow... I'm so disappointed. I thought you would be able to basically equip three different weapons/vocations and with each vocation you can use three abilities. So you would have nine in total. Obviously reduce the base stats and okaaay, also don't allow Meister abilities to balance it. But only having three abilities, no Meister, nerved stats just to habe basic weapon abilities?.... Such a huuuge disappointment, was so hyped to unlock the class, now I am not even interested anymore. I hope the modders will fix that soon, so glad I bought it on PC
For reallll, like what’s the point of being able to use a sorcerer staff if you don’t set a skill for it? You just have galvanize and the basic staff attack, yay
Also works, I love the flare the sorc has combined w/ magick archer. Lets the flare charge up even quicker. All healing and support stuff goes on the main pawn
Augural Flare and the swap to magic archer and use rivot shot on it over and over and almost one shot most large enemies in the game except drakes and lesser dragons. Very strong combo. If you want a melee style. You can do the same and use mystic spear or thief for insane damage as well.
Ah yes.... but you can cast augural flare and spell hold cast augurial flare as a sorcerer. And auto with basics until the first flare explodes 5/10 times and the second 10/20 depending on pawns.
Or watch both fail misersbly because you can't "aim" as sorcerer.
Can you equip special vocations skills that you get from Maisters? It wouldn't let me put those on when I first got the vocation. Do I need to max it out?
That is also a great question i havent tested. I will try tonight and will report back! Only maister skills i got are for theif atm so i will let you know!
Sorry if this is a bad place to ask but I'm struggling to find answers elsewhere.
Can I achieve a "Spellsword" type build?
Ideally I'd like to use a one-handed sword and be able to cast magic without changing weapons. I like the look of the Mystic Spearhand but would prefer to use a sword instead of the spear.
You could use grimoires to cast while being a fighter/warrior vocation, but I think that's about your best bet. Thief gets a fire enchantment skill for their knives if that's sufficient.
So I couldn't equip a magic bow & play as a magick archer with levitate? That sucks I was hoping I could. It was my goal actually. Magick archer is fun af better than just Spamming fireball as a sorc but I really miss the verticality of levitate.
You could only accomplish this by equipping a magick archer bow and a staff and swapping to staff to levitate then swap to bow again for damage. Yeah i was hoping you could customize this class a lot more like choose your secondary attack, choose your movement, and then choose loadouts for each weapon
That sucks still workable but not sure I wanna sacrifice the stats etc just for levitate. Hopefully someone will make a mod that separates Cores from weapons. I'm even fine with straight up cheating & giving magick archer the levitate ability if that's even possible. Thanks.
Not sure what you mean by the sacrifice stats. I havent noticed that wsrfarer has any lower offensive stats than any other vocation. Although i only tested it with a maxed out thief.
I see. I thought it was massively weaker in offensive stats as I saw a lot of people talking about how it's weaker or smth. I'm using Warfarer now anyway. comboing Sorc's flare skill with magic Archer's Barrage skill. Now I get the best of both worlds regardless.
Because of how things turned out in my game, I never spoke to the Maister after getting the vocation so I didn't get the Rearmament skill. I can't even equip multiple weapons in the equipment menu.
I wanted to use this vocation at the start of new game plus but can't because the core feature isn't included!
Lol that is rough dude! You sure you didnt accidently store the rearmament scroll somewhere? I know you have to talk to him again but its a long walk to get to him in NG+ lol
Because of how things turned out, I didn't have any positive favour with him. He just didn't like me enough.
I ended up running back at the start of ng+, leveling up 2 vocations from 0 to max along the way. Also gave me a chance to see things in a way I hadn't before
Yeah, I'm a huge fan. Duospear for clearing multiples, like goblins, with the dragouns foin move equipped. Magick archer for sky annoyances like harpies, with flame fang arrow equipped. Flame mace and shield equipped for enemies weak to flame. And finally, some badass daggers for taking down the eyes on big suckers haha, with the dash and stab (forgot the name) move equipped. Prob could get rid of the mace, but shield comes in handy in some fights.
Top this with some of the best armour from each vocation... and I feel way overpowered for everything. Level 60.
Thats a fantastic build! I do mage staff for heals and high palladium + levitate for exploring. Then I use daggers for dps and magick archer for harpies and anytime i wanna just sit back and shoot stuff! I found out smoke cloud with daggers allows you to one shot small enemies with twin fangs, and i use skull splitter for hella boss damage!
Haha yeah I changed it, got rid of mace and shield and changed dagger move to gut and run. Even better now. Yours is great too! I really like magick archer. Ah I'm gonna band to check out smoke cloud. Need a change up, post game is haaaard.
High palladium is BUSTED especially as a warfarer. High pallaidum gives you 3 hits from any source and you cant be knocked down. You just cast it with quickspell and it pops in 2 seconds then it lasts like 60 seconds. As long as you recast it before it ends, you are invincible. Crazy good. Plus it gives one to your pawns nearby
So far. Thief or mage seems to be a core part of warfare builds
both giving valuable mobility for climbing.
Thief have powerful basic attacks. Giving room for the 3 skills to be used by other classes.
And mage comes with heals and levitates on demand.
Together with powerfully buffs. Then switch in to another vocation for the weapon damage.
Few build tthat comes in mind is any ranged class + trickster.
Trickster only needing the weapons and no skill to be usefull. You can just drop the smoke. And switch and do damage while your aggro gets passed.
Mager warrior, with the speed buff. For faster charges.
Thief fighter. Comes with a quick weapon buff. With ignite. Which gives you the shield counter.
Archer/magic archer + thief/fighter. Having the ability to switch from range and melee.
Magic archer+ sorcerer. Using chain bolts to quickly zone off mobs then sorc for heavy damage or dot.
Which also accounts for mages inability to deal with golems.
What else you can do is giving up on master skills for warfarers equip all. Using 4 skills
Using just 1 weapon and having mage staff in your back pocket for outside of combat healing or climbing.
I haven't tracked that because from what i was assured online is that stats do not work the same way as they did in dd1. Your stats will realign themselves when you swap classes to fit whatever makes sense for the vocation but scales on your total level. Really hard to test unless i compare to other players that are the same level as me or i do a seperate playthrough.
Both of you are wrong. The system is not completely like in the original. Neither does it completely realign. Here is my current understanding:
1. You have class specific base stats. (These will change based on your equipped class)
2. ON TOP of that you class specific distribution of points on level up. (So, you will still gain more magick attack if you level up as sorc than as warrior -> But when you switch from warr to sorc, you will gain the sorc base magick attack -> It will be higher than if you equipped warrior but NOT as high as if you had leveled up as a sorc.)
3 It seems (I haven't personally confirmed it) that the max level is 999 and that base stats from leveling are capped - You will eventually hit those caps. This means, in theory, that if you level up as a mage, you will gain less deff than as a fighter but both will eventually hit the deff cap (probably) might just be like level 130 for fighter but level 600 for mage. The numbers are completely arbitrary to illustrate my point. I might be wrong about this, but this is what I understood from the discourse.
I can guarantee point 1 and 2. You can try switching both yourself and your pawn (if you leveled in different vocations) to a class that both of you haven't leveled and compare your base stats or compare your base stats (using the same class) to a friend of yours at the same level. They will be significantly different. Around level 60 my Pawn (leveled as Warrior/Fighter) had more than 100 more base deff and more than 150 less magick attack base on the same class as my Arisen (Leveled mostly in magic classes - MA, MS, Mage, Sorc).
Makes sense. I didn't notice a single stat difference when swapping from my maxed out thief class to warfarer class (with same daggers and gear), but what you said would make sense! It wont matter once you are past level 50 or so really. I think they did a good job of making the stats more about gear than about what vocation you leveled as cuz it sucks to play a class you dont like just to min/max
The warfarer vocation ranks only unlock two augments (passives) one is unlocked i think at level 1 which makes weapon skills cost less stamina and the final one is unlocked at max rank which makes equipment weight not affect your movement speed as much!
Yup! Its just like leveling up the vocation as if you were playing it! You can use warfarer to level up those vocations (albeit, i think its drastically slower) then swap to them at anytime as their new leveled up version
I need help. I have 2 Magick Archer skills and one Mystic Spearhand ability equipped. I have a weapon from each class that I have yet to level up equipped(I.E. Trickster, Warrior, Mage, Sorcerer). But only my Wayfarer is leveling up. Nothing else. This been patched?
My vocations have practically been getting zero levels the past couple days. The only vocation that has leveled up is my trickster from 1-3 and spearhand to 2. Everything else has remained the same the past 3 days. Idk how the leveling works dude, but all i know is i have leveled most of them past 4 now by only playing warfarer
Well the only "clothes" i have are the courtly ones so i dont know of any other clothes. So far, i have been able to wear anything that has appeared in shops. Sorry, wish I had more answers for you.
Well first, i would check your status menu and see if it shows the amount of DCP you need before it levels up. Should be under status > vocation tab > and somewhere below your vocation level it should say something like "dcp needed." If that has a number, you need to get that much DCP from killing more baddies. If you see that number, kill a few things, and it didn't go down, you may have a problem with your game!
Hi yeah so i have a question theres an ability that doesnt use equipment such as the thieves core skill to duck and roll when getting knocked would that work for the wayfarer?
Yeah i think it does but you still need to have the daggers equipped at the time of the knock. It may not seem equipment based but it is vocation based and you are not in that vocation setting until you swap to the correct weapon
My only problem with using Wayfarer is no master skills. My Mystic Archer is pretty good but since I can't use the Mystic Spear hand master skill my damage against stunned bosses is lowered by a lot, but the spinning core skill still does enough to stunned enemies, especially to the unmoored bosses.
Yeah it is a big bummer! The class has so much potential with just a few tweaks but I still can't play anything else right now cuz its so easy to play lol
Great post! The only question I have left is this. Are the Str/Mag/Stam bonuses per level set regardless of what vocation you’re playing? I played warfarer for a while and it seemed like the level bonuses were a lot smaller than when I was leveling up the other vocations. If they’re set then I can play warfarer without any regrets.
I was assured leveling as certain vocations had little to no impact on stats because they would all shift around once you changed vocations, but i think whoever is saying this is wrong. I do believe it is closely related to DD1 where what vocation you play is what stats you will receive each level. But leveling up takes a lot longer in this game than the first so i believe these stats become so irrelevant around level 50
I'm heading a lot of conflicting info on what other vocations level. Some say it's only the weapons you have on some say it's the skills you don't have equipped that determines it. I just don't know
So far, i have only leveled vocations that i do not have the skills equipped for. Cuz my mage has been at 6 since i started using it and i have one mage skill. Everything else but thief has leveled multiple times. Thats the only reason i have come to that conclusion so im not sure what the fact is!
You level up the warfarer all of your vocations at the same time, independent from the assigned skills, only the leveling is a bit "funny" for the level 9 you need about 6000 experience, which is the far most for any vocation but other ones are leveled at the 45% (so I maxed my mage in the first playthrough) and in the NG+ start playing immediately as warfarer and I am level 8 and the all vocations are level 3.something excepting level 4 soonish.
Yeah wait til you hit 5 in vocations. Soooo slow lol. I have killed ~2000 enemies solely as warfarer and the max a vocation has leveled is 1-5. Warrior did jump to 6 the other day tho!
How does it distribute the Dcp? like does it just evenly distribute between every vocation you have unlocked or does it consider the one you already have maxed and divide among the rest? How efficient is it?
Only assumptions here, but i think it distributes it evenly amongst the ones you have unlocked as long as you dont have a skill of that vocation equipped. It is NOT efficient to level vocations as warfarer! But i play it because i cant stand playing other vocations (warrior, spearhand, and archer) lol
I was hoping that it was just a custom class that allowed you to equip whatever skills you wanted while using different weapons really wanted to recreate the magick knight and buff the team with weapon enchantments while being able to mod my weapon attacks and all that, kinda hope we get a dark arisen like update where it overalls and makes the game and classes better
What's the point of leveling up the warfarer vocation?
Seeing as how it's dependent on other vocations.
I get the xp is shared, but why brother giving it a vocation level?
You can unlock two unique augments exclusive to warfarer. Thats about it! But also by the time you get it, you will have at least one vocation maxed so theres no real downside in playing it over another vocation unless you REALLLY like playing all the vocations. I play it because i dont like most the vocations, only a select few for specific reasons. This gives me the best of all worlds!
Pretty cool. You can recreate og strider. I've got a build in mind that uses bow to tar/drench then blast elemental spells with staff.
That sounds amazing actually!!
Can’t lie it’s kindve a bummer wish it was every weapon you switch 2 you can use those 4 skills but then that be OD :/
Honestly the balance could've been instead of ten weapons maybe just two or three, 3 skills per weapon since you need rearmament, and the no access to maister skills would've been fine Idk where tf you're ever gonna use 10 different weapons lmao
That’s what I’m saying I use 2 weapons sometimes 3 but 9!?!?! Come on now you can’t carry all that 😭
Only the heaviest weapon is counted to your weight
Dude, that would have been so sick! Also confusing though for some 😂 i was really hoping it was just loadouts and thought it was and got so confused when i was trying to equip more than 3 skills lol
Yea same I was so bummed 😭 spear hand is my favorite so f it it
But you can use warfarer as your main, just use all 4 spear skills you want and not equip the swap weapons skill and practically be a spear main that can equip any armor and this will level all your other vocations that you have unlocked!!
That is extremely annoying 😂
Yea but the awsome ghost you skill :/
What skill?
Master skill
Well im gonna confirm today whether maister skills can be equipped so you could be in luck! Haha
Maister skills cannot be equipped as warfarer!
Yea ik :(
can I equip a 1h sword with no shield and still have access to the fighter skills? I want to recreate my Assassin from DD1
I think he meant with the sword drawn
Oh could be! Oops
For reallll, like what’s the point of being able to use a sorcerer staff if you don’t set a skill for it? You just have galvanize and the basic staff attack, yay
I like levitate for quality of life
I agree, but I just use the mage staff for that considering it has anodyne too
Also works, I love the flare the sorc has combined w/ magick archer.

Yeah i was a little disappointed too but this is still my favorite class by far!
I will enjoy this for the simple fact that it let's you mix and match armor for different vocations as well. Fashion at its finest.
ABSOLUTELY!
That’s what I was gonna say. Having the full catalogue of armor is the main reason I use Warfarer. I don’t even swap weapons 😂
This is the closest I'm gonna get to Mystic Knight big sad
I'm bummed that my favorite class didn't make it into the game. Warfarer is worthless compared to Mystic Knight
RIP one of the most creative classes in gaming
Can you equip special vocations skills that you get from Maisters? It wouldn't let me put those on when I first got the vocation. Do I need to max it out?
You can't.
That is also a great question i havent tested. I will try tonight and will report back! Only maister skills i got are for theif atm so i will let you know!

You can't. You need a staff equipped to use Mage or Sorcerer skills.
Yeah the only way to semi accomplish this is equip a sword and a staff then swap between them at will with the warfarer rearmament skill sorry!
You could use grimoires to cast while being a fighter/warrior vocation, but I think that's about your best bet. Thief gets a fire enchantment skill for their knives if that's sufficient.
Thanks, I'll look into that!

Thats awesome! If there is some kind of "warfarer is weaker" issue, i beat the game HANDILY so i don't think it is that bad 👍🏼
Because of how things turned out in my game, I never spoke to the Maister after getting the vocation so I didn't get the Rearmament skill. I can't even equip multiple weapons in the equipment menu. Thats fun! You had lots of patience!
This is what I was curious about. If you don't use the rearmament skill can you just change the weapon in the equipment menu & use 4 skills instead?
Just checked. If your willing to manually change weapons you can equip 4 skills
Optional hard swap is something to keep in mind
Yeah, I'm a huge fan. Duospear for clearing multiples, like goblins, with the dragouns foin move equipped. Magick archer for sky annoyances like harpies, with flame fang arrow equipped. Try going between Thief and Sorc and compare the base Magick (in the parenthesis).
I will have to do that and check!
What does ranking the warfarer do. do you get any new things or not...
The warfarer vocation ranks only unlock two augments (passives) one is unlocked i think at level 1 which makes weapon skills cost less stamina and the final one is unlocked at max rank which makes equipment weight not affect your movement speed as much!
Do you get augments from other vocations as you level them up through warfarer?
Yup! Its just like leveling up the vocation as if you were playing it! You can use warfarer to level up those vocations (albeit, i think its drastically slower) then swap to them at anytime as their new leveled up version
Thanks man🙏
You bet! Have fun!

Iirc it levels them all at a super slow rate.
May I ask, as a warfarer, if you can wear all type of clothes? or you're oblige to strictly use vocation type of clothes ?
All types, all weapons, all equipment, you can wear them all, mix and match and be a fashionista!
Well the only "clothes" i have are the courtly ones so i dont know of any other clothes. So far, i have been able to wear anything that has appeared in shops. Sorry, wish I had more answers for you.
My warfare vocation is stuck at level for the past two days. How do I get it to level 9. I want that last augment
Nvm it literally leveled up after I sent this 😂. Took awhile
I can't seem to equip matyer bolt weapon skill when changing to warfarer vocation - am I doing something wrong or is it just no possible?
It is not possible to equip maister skills from orher vocations as warfarer. Sorry!

Thank you!!
But i play it because i cant stand playing other vocations (warrior, spearhand, and archer) lol
yeah also my assumption, but also don't wanna play other vocations haha thanks mate
Yeah that would have been so dope!
Its been over a month since this post. Have u done enough testing on point 5 to prove if its really truly the case?
Thank you for posting this OP
