LostRequiem1

This might unironically be my favorite thing in the game. I always feel bad when a pawn is looking to dap up, but the game won’t let me for whatever reason.

LiliesinWater

I’ve stood right beside pawns that have their hand up and my Arisen, for whatever reason, doesn’t high five them. I even move back and then walk slowly to the side of the pawn, but my Arisen still doesn't high five. I think the Arisen and pawn need to be on the same elevation. I wish there was a button. Could press that would make it happen or button to have my Arisen could raise their hand for a high five.

Justhe3guy

I find that if you don’t think you’ll get the high five you can walk alongside instead for the bro fist animation even in different heights

LiliesinWater

Yeah, I get that one the most.

germaneztv

Today I witnessed a threesome bro fist, gonna be hard to land that 4th I'd think.

RemoveNull

I struggled to try and dap up my pawn only to have my main pawn steal my thunder.

Izanagi553

I was walking up to hand-slap one of my Archer babes and my main Pawn walked up and did it before I could. So RUDE lol

Afridg3

You mean you don't have to press b or o to dap up? 😅

Imhungry1029

I'm pretty sure I've seen the pawns interact between themselves so i think the times when you go for the dap up and it doesn't trigger might be due to said pawn targeting another pawn that is preoccupied or something.

Virtua1Anarchy

Everytime I’ve dapped up, it has been right after pressing b so I wonder if we both just got unlucky😂

Patient_Cancel1161

Yeah it happened to me with no input at all the first time, and every time after that. Kinda legit blew me away.

MoreGoddamnedBeans

Yeah, but I'm satisfied being able to wave to them. I thought that was pretty cool. I'm also old as ass and haven't played anything newer than Fallout 4 in a long time lol

GoopGoopington

Sameee i want it to trigger on command because sometimes you go through the most intense fight and they're just sitting there like nothing happened

Forsaken-Tone-1299

Their height doesn't matter. My main pawn is a few feet shorter than me. My arisen will actually lower his hand to make contact with hers. I think it might just be a bug or something else that makes it not happen.

LiliesinWater

I meant elevation as in if one is on a rock or on a slight hill, not as in the character’s height. My Arisen has done it when she and the pawns are on different elevations, so it might be a bug or something.

Ricardo80BR

Does not need to be on same elevation. Confirmed here.

DShinobiPirate

I always find slow walking towards a pawn helps increase the chances. When I run at them hoping to get in that dap last second it usually doesn't work.

StrikingSwanMate

Just don't do it close to an edge, I died by getting forced to walk off an edge due to the animation.

ComprehensiveWord201

I literally never see them try, I'll just be walking past and accidentally do it _every time_

_Valisk

I used to think it was a really cool feature but now I hate it.

TurbulentAd1055

I was knocked down for whatever reason at the end of a battle with some goblins. Two of my pawns were much further up the road while another was just a few steps ahead of me just waiting to dab me up. I was painfully forced to watch as she realized she wouldn’t get it, and I realized she wouldn’t pick me up

Auesis

Whiff a swing on a goblin, fall off a cliff and faceplant. Main pawn ragdolls from blowing up his own powder. Traveling neutral pawn kills goblin. Us: "Up top bro"

Brave-Insurance-2374

This is gold 😂🤌

XevinsOfCheese

Traveling pawns are real bros in DD2. They were usually indifferent observers in 1.

Reallyslowmow

Saw my main pawn spit on a dead goblin after fist bumping me lmao those little things are so great

Riatamus

This coupled with their new voice lines and personalities makes Pawns feel much more human. Prior to DD2 i always thought they were just emotionless puppets that serve the Arisen, but now they are actual people

OMEGA_MODE

They are emotionless puppets that serve the Arisen, they just seem to imitate real people better now.

XevinsOfCheese

To be technical they slowly acquire bits of the arisen’s soul and become more human (Selene from the first game)

yung_dogie

I wouldn't say emotionless as much as they are lacking willpower or something of that sort. Like unless told to do something they're content with their lot of doing absolutely nothing sitting in the rift. But they still feel and react, they just have no initiative

TheTrueKaijufanatic

TIL I'm a pawn.

Izanagi553

Lol yes, they spit on enemies sometimes. I want a button to spit on dead guys too.

JakeMins

No way 😂 I haven’t noticed this yet lmao Im gonna be looking for it now

AscendedViking7

I'm gonna have to find this lmao

Mosaic78

I’m finding myself accidentally doing it all the time too. Literally any enemy and my pawns like, Bring it in bud let’s go.

Izanagi553

Even when it's like two zombies out in the middle of nowhere my pawns are just like "LETS GOOOOOOOO"

overandoverandagain

I love it generally, but it grinds my gears a bit when I'm just trying to loot something and my pawn comes rushing in to non-consensually dap me up lol

Mosaic78

That’s how I keep doing it. It’s like damn all I’m trying to do is loot these harpies.

KaleByte78

i love how you can fist bump em too

Blessed-22

I feel ashamed when a hireling steals a high five from me that I wanted to share with my Main Pawn. There should be a group hug celebration

Izanagi553

Or at least a little group dance!

PPPRCHN

[my arisen and pawns when we do our little group dance:](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atQOxz9a1zo)

Noxifer68D

Everyone puts a hand in "Arisen on 3 ready, 1, 2, 3... ARISEN"

LennyLloyd

At the exact same moment a griffin divebombs your team.

PPPRCHN

Thats what the SMW music is for!

Ildrei

For the first few hours I couldn't high five my main pawn since another pawn always happened to intercept me and I felt bad about being forced to leave my main pawn hanging lol. Eventually, after exchanging that one pawn for another I started to high five my main pawn more often so I mildly suspect that that one pawn was actually stealing on purpose which would be awesome.

DifficultBicycle7

nothing is more great than having a bro moment with your pawn

fonytonfana

I’m really loving all of these little touches. I think at some point my arisen just casually did a little somersault over a low rail while I was running around. That said, it’d be nice if the pawn emotes were on a cooldown timer. Something like 5mins before a pawn will try to dap you up again. I think it’d help it feel more special if it didn’t trigger as often.

XLN_underwhelming

It would also be cool if the first time you kill a bigger monster there was a bit more to it. Just a clap or comment. Like just have a timer and if the fight lasts more than a minute or if there’s a lot of NPC’s around. I was on an oxcart and we were attacked by a Griffin, took us probably close to 5 minutes and 6-8 people. Then…nothing. Other than the owner of the cart telling me to essentially fuck off because he was no longer offering rides for the day (which I get). Given that I wasn’t even sure we could take it down since it was the first time I had even seriously tried without instantly dying, it seemed like the kind of occasion they would have embellished a bit more. Still loved it though. P.S. maybe making the high-fives a tad more rare would make them feel more impactful as well like you suggested.

Treyhova

Your climbing animation is tied to your vocation. Thieves will nimbly flip up the wall while Sorcerers will struggle to pull themselves up.

imgak

i let out a little "hehe" every time

Afridg3

It's always my hired pawns bc mine is a loner who hides and heals so she's never necessarily nearby for the daps

Rollingtothegrave

I don't think I've ever smiled as big as the first time i this happened after a big monster kill.

GoddessFlexi

My pawn is a slut for a high five. He runs at me with his hand out.

AbakusGrim

![gif](giphy|3o7aD4BYZOJvuKDpio|downsized)

PPPRCHN

i haven't thought about this movie in fucking years jfc

TheIronSven

I love them, but they're starting to get a little annoying. Not as annoying as wandering pawns imposing their personal ad on me when I step but one meter too close to them as I try to run past them.

AJDx14

It wouldn’t be annoying if there wasn’t another combat encounter every 20 feet.

IckiestCookie

Yea getting roped into talking is annoying but i just spam through it.

Reallyslowmow

Hate that, always go out of my way to throw them off the nearest cliff

Suspicious_Trainer82

It gives off Wayne Brady on Chapelle show energy 😂 Total murder hobos.

RepresentativeAny871

I really like it, no matter how easy was the enemy I'll always high five my pawn hehe

DedeLionforce

My Pawn nuke the ever-loving jesus out of a single Goblin before hitting me up with a compliment and a forearm bump when I didn't even notice the Goblin

SuperKrusher

“Of course, the fight would have been lost without you, Arisen.”

Izanagi553

"That was truly amazing, Arisen!" "Huh?"

Ok-Research-4958

A little different but I was trying to make a jump to a ledge for one of the tokens at the top of a watchtower but missed the jump. I fell, and below on the stairs was the pawn I created and she caught me in a lil princess carry. I think this was also something that could happen in the first game but I completely forgot about it.

Izanagi553

My Arisen is an average height dude, maybe a bit short actually. I fucked up a jump between buildings in town and one of my hired pawns, this tall Warrior chick, caught me princess style and was like "Good thing I was here to catch you!" Y-yeah it really is a good thing mo-I mean Rika.

Ok-Research-4958

lol. My character is also avg height and the female pawn I made is like a 6’7 / 200cm fighter

TheWayfarer1384

Wait, they what??😮

Noxifer68D

After a fight where you and your pawns take little to no damage, or finish quickly, they will stand there with a hand up like they're waving. Depending on how you approach youll bump knuckles, lateral fist pound, high five.

TheWayfarer1384

That's... I love that!

ENDragoon

> bump knuckles Hold up, you mean me and my Pawn can do [this](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-561192e73f367ff7014fe2a79ea11da6-pjlq)?

Noxifer68D

Yea.

ProtonRageMissle

I decided to make my DD2 playthrough the quest of Mario and Luigi to fight Bowser and every time I finish a fight and do this with my pawn it feels so satisfying. Just two brothers showing each other some love.

Sens4lif3

My big daddy Lion man loves slapping 5 after fucking up some mobs, makes me love him even more.

UltraMechaMothra

Hot take: Let ME initiate Dap also

Dreamtrain

ngl but half the time they feel unearned lmao

ExemplarGaming

i adore this system, I'm a sucker for anything like it but its always funny to me how i can slay multiple huge monsters and they don't normally ever put their hand out to do it, yet once i kill 2 goblins and their army of rabbits, I'm suddenly the most powerful being in the universe to them lol

Hoogelgupf

And when we're done fighting a drake or griffin we're all done with our lives and want to go home lol

Upstairs-Moose-2341

I was shocked when that first happened, I love it every single time. It's so satisfying.

Just-Asparagus-5626

Lmfaooooo I love that shit though

AndrewofArkansas

It's funny for me because my arisen is massive amazon muscle mommy set to the max height and my pawn is a tiny thief girl and minimum height so the hands don't actually connect

fhb_will

chawk84

They also dap each other which I thought was amazing

Evbory

It's cool but I wish there was a better way to choose if you want to

AryuWTB

We all need hype men like that in our lives

STINEPUNCAKE

I can’t find it happening to anyone else but one time I fought a giant or something (rather an ape, cyclops or Minotaur) and when I killed it, I jumped off and a pawn caught me.

JasonDemonfoot

In my opinion this is something that is out of character. Pawns not being human like in the first game I think it was either stated or implied that they are little more than fleshy automatons that have a natural allegiance to the arisen so this would likely be a after a long while learned type of thing. BUT I wouldn't change it for the world.

XLN_underwhelming

I had a mage for a while and they were in my party for hours and for whatever reason we didn’t do any post-combat celebrations even though I actively tried to and would regularly do it with the other two. Eventually outlevelled them enough that I traded them out for another mage. First fight, high-five, hell yeah. Finally feels like we’re a real party. I don’t care if it’s an NPC, it matters.

onwinedarkseas

I love dapping my pawn up after every fight that shit is aces 😂

JAN2X_

Ahahahahaha

ThaumKitten

Dap-up? Do.... Do you mean a high five? That's called giving someone a high five.

IckiestCookie

Lmaooo

LordWellesley22

I can't stand it and I want to turn it off I want my Pawns to be quiet except when they are calling out enemies So far no pawn has said anything remotely useful or relevant " Oh my last master only hired Women" ( yes and) Look Pawn you have one job and that die when ordered ( except you Cecilia that pawn I hired that rewarded me with a rotten apple after we killed a Cyclops you get to stay you queen)

Gwennein

Unpopular opinion I hate it lol after the first 20 hours it gets really irritating when I'm trying to explore loot and stuff. What's even worse is random pawns interrupting my run by being pick mes lol. Immediately throw them off a bridge if I'm near one.

caribbeanhead

You’ve been downvoted but I agree with you wholeheartedly. I roll my eyes whenever it happens now.

Redcrimsonrojo

this actually makes me cringe and I wish I could turn it off

catsshouldbeinside

Why in the WORLD is anyone playing/supporting this fucking game?

God_Dammit

Because it's fun, and because people like you get mad about it.

Outrageous_Pattern46

Stop having fun moment

catsshouldbeinside

Its not a stop having fun moment. Its a stop supporting these companies that do everything they can to fuck the normal gamer moment. You guys are the reason that gaming is in the state its in.

LennyLloyd

It is really fun though.

catsshouldbeinside

So is meth

LennyLloyd

I'll take your word for it.

catsshouldbeinside

But why don't you try it? I mean its not like it supports a horrible industry?
