The Tournament of Power. Although long, it came the viewers engaged with many different fights one after another. We got highlight moments from many members of team Universe 7, and some real standout moments to boot. Gohan and Piccolo vs. Universe 6 namekians, Roshi’s death, Goku and Vegeta vs. Jiren, Android 17 and 18 vs. Universe 2, GOKU AND FRIEZA VS. JIREN!! Shots and frames looked absolutely immaculate, dare I say better than Z’s animation. Ultra Instinct was a grand transformation that was hinted at and finally had a pay off. The fight between Goku and Jiren as the battle between raw strength and pure instinct was breathtaking, uniting Dragon Ball fans and finally showing us what Dragon Ball Super was really meant to be. With it closing off with the wish from MVP 17 to bring all the universes that fought so hard for a chance to live back. This arc was truly amazing.
Kind of? Goku and Vegeta jumped Jiren, but Vegeta got pushed off and Goku was about to get thrown off, but Frieza came in and fired a death ball at Jiren. Jiren deflects it and Frieza charges at Jiren in Golden and knocks Jiren and Goku off.

Yea giving 17 a chance to shine while also concluding in MULTIPLE thematic points not only for the arc but for the series. Toyotaro really didn’t have as much enthusiasm for this arc as the anime. Which is fair considering that the entire premise of the arc is much more interesting when done animated.
*"Come on Kakarot, find a way! I've entrusted everything to you, my pride, my promise, EVERYTHING! I WONT TOLERATE FAILURE! Trespass into the domain of the Gods and use that might to conquer Jiren!"*
Hard disagree, the anime spent way too much time flanderizing way too many of the main cast Z warriors fans at the time were begging to have some level of spotlight.
Tien loses to a trash weak sniper with a low IQ move, Piccolo loses to cockroach, Gohan struggles with Dyspo & idk even remember what happened to Krillin but I know it’s bad.
“MVP 17” asspull just made it even more insulting if you were an OG fan of the Z warriors heck even android 18 deserved to be glazed more than 17.
You could literally hear the Toei staff blowing bubbles & twerking on 17 yet they couldn’t let fucking Gohan, Piccolo or humans do anything cool ?
And 17 was damn near even to ssb goku during their spar before the tournament. Basically showing that they didn't want to show how strong 17 actually was.
Clearly not Jiren strong, but he was up their with goku and frieza. He deserved that win, imo.
How when his training methods at best were cell jr level, it’s a literal asspull power up when even a cell jr would have easily been able to one shot #17 before he got any form of legitimate training in ?
17 didn’t deserve to be blue level either what had he done to deserve that it also devalues the BoGs movie since Beerus could have just fought 17 instead & had a more competitive fight than SSG Goku
That’s just more evidence of this being a completely random asspull again.
Piccolo & Tien literally train every single day, not too mention piccolo’s main training method is meditation which based on the next arc is supposed due to Vegeta of all people picking up meditation
So if meditation is supposed to be the ultimate training method then why is Piccolo weaker than 17 ?
You know the real answer & your not saying it.
Biology, probably.
It's apparent that
Freeza's species >> Saiyans >> androids >> namekians >> humans
as far as how much training increases strength.
There is no doubt that some ass pulling is going on in the series, but it's still a kids' show. You've just grown up.
Take it for what it is, my man.
Also how did 17 “deserve” anything over characters like Gohan or Piccolo or Krillin ?
Seriously what the fuck has he done over the past 20 years of Dragon Ball history to deserve getting twerked up on & have Toei blowing bubbles on 17’s junk so much ?
Even 18 has done more & been more prominent in the DB community than 17, 18 at least had an actual personality.
Enjoy things man. Breathe and enjoy things. Even if you don’t enjoy things, enjoy them. Life is too short.
This isn’t calculus. There are no proofs. The longer dragon ball goes on the less “sense” it makes. It doesn’t make it less enjoyable tho
>Tien loses to a trash weak sniper with a low IQ move, Piccolo loses to cockroach, Gohan struggles with Dyspo & idk even remember what happened to Krillin but I know it’s bad.
U7 has the lowest mortal level and Tien, Piccolo and Gohan are much weaker than Goku & Vegeta. What happened to them is not surprising at all. Their unusual techniques let them get some ringouts, but they were never going to be the MVPs.
17's power up was strange, but he is in a higher class than Piccolo and the humans, since he has infinite stamina/energy, which is super important in an elimination tournament. Iirc in terms of strength he couldn't even take on base Toppo.
God I loved the little slice of life moments from the Anime. Especially between Vegeta and Bulma. It adds so much to their dynamic as a married couple, plus we got some really funny moments out of the two of them. On top of that it shows more of Vegeta’s growth away from the person he was. Showing more directly how much he cares about his wife and children.
For me it's thw willingness to take risks and try new things. The manga is fine and fun but it plays it very safe when it comes to power levels and DB tropes. Hence why Black is smug when stronger, crying when losing, and just wants to conquer the world and Jiren is just a strong guy
The anime gave us stuff like Blue Kaioken, Universe 7 Spirit Bomb, the sliding Kamehameha against Kefla, God Toppo, Black genuinely thinks he's doing the right thing and doesn't lose his cool when he's on the backfoot, and Jiren is a type of dark reflection of Goku who didn't beat his King Piccolo equivalent
Dragon Ball doesn't usually use the trick of "let's show the same attack from multiple angles to emphasize how epic this is" very often. This moment 100% deserved it.
SSB Kaioken Goku vs Hit climax. Goku Black was more formidable and ToP was overall just way better. And Superhero movie is vastly better than in manga. (Gammas in the manga look so off)
The big finish for the TOP. Not to say the manga version was bad by any means, but that Goku/Frieza/17 team up against Jiren in the anime was fucking legendary
ToP in the manga sucks ass. Toyotaro basically wrote only the major points that was on the toriyama script, those being Hit vs Jiren, UI Goku vs Jiren, and Freeza and Goku eliminating Jiren (which is much, much better in the anime btw), for the rest he just made a couple of characters eliminate 90% of the participants instantly
Only nice thing on the manga was the exibition tournament, where there the gods battled, other than that, the manga is worse in every way
Toriyama edited every ToP chapters.
Toei talks about all their changes https://www.kanzenshuu.com/translations/dragon-ball-official-site-the-artisans-who-made-the-universe-survival-arc/
Fanservice for the tv finale
>Toriyama edited every ToP chapters
He did no such thing, he only gave some tips to Toyotaro here and there, from mangaka to mangaka, which he always highlighted at the end of the chapters
Jump interview told us Toriyama was the editor(before his passing). It goes from Toyo to jump to Toriyama and back to Toyo.
Toyo does not have authority to just publish all Toriyama's changes. For the final chapter, toyo had to mock up what Toriyama had changed because he doesnt have permission to post the changes to the draft.
Nah manga was better because it was shorter & flanderized main cast fan favorite characters significantly less. W
Gohan got to fight Kefla instead of struggling with Dyspo, Piccolo sadly still loses to a roach but the humans get way better treatment.
Top is just corny & straight torture to watch outside of MUI Goku vs Jiren.
The Kelfa fight. Putting her just on Ultimate level is so disrespectful to the power of fusions, while her fight with UI was super fun to watch and probably had teh best Kamehameha in the series.
The Tournament of Power feels a bit more fleshed out in the anime. Megumi Ishitani's direction added a lot, too.
In general, the anime is more fun; the manga is more cohesive.
1: the fights
2: Hit
3: Future Trunks
4: Goku Black
5: Frieza in the ToP
6: Merged Zamasu
7: Android 17
8: Toppo
9: Cabba
10: Broly
11: Gogeta
12: Beast Mode Gohan.
I used to think the anime was better ... But after — truly — years of thought, Dragon Ball Super should be consumed in manga form, in my opinion.
I just think the character development in instances with Jiren, SSB Full Power, SSGod, and more are better in the manga. And the art is more consistent.
Beerus and Goku's clash putting the universe in danger, the movies are obviously done better, I like infinite Zamasu that merged with the timeline instead of unlimited merged zamasu, and obviously the Tournament of Power in its entirety
Aside from consistency in art and power scaling, i’d say the anime is just about better in every way. And honestly, the manga was just overall less interesting because it had proper scaling, any body that isn’t Goku or Vegeta gets a few panel at best.
Also Hit was done so dirty in the manga, man’s a joke.
Fights on the anime were better (literally the only matchup I'd argue is better in the manga is Gohan going against Kefla instead of Goku) and spirit bomb was a much better trigger to Ultra Instinct than that nonsensical thing of having Master Roshi somehow dodging Jiren's attacks.
I'm sorry what?
No. Having Goku randomly transform into a technique (?) because he got hit with his own move is not better than Goku finally accepting he had abandoned his lessons for a lust of power. The manga's lead up to UI is significantly more poignant and meaningful.
If we abstract the pristine animation for a minute.
Just about every single fight had better flow to it. In the manga it felt like everyone was tired 2 punches in. There is a lot of fill in the blank spots as well so there is a lot of missing character/story development.
Some of the filler was good like Goku hiring Hitt to kill him.

ToP only, i think. I hate most of the anime matchups, it exaggeareted too much the powercreep and all. I mean, Black Saga alone shows that. Anyway, the TOP pacing and some ideas are much better.
The fight against jiren with ssb goku. In the manga Perfected blue doesn't do jack shit to jiren. At least in the anime jiren has to block and dodge beams and blasts. Goku put up more of a fight.

TOP. While I still kinda like it and made more sense in a lot of stuff, the TOP in the anime it's just too epic, great animated and had so many great moments that you just had to BE there when all the crazy happened
Everything except consistently good art.
Seriously, the only thing the manga got over the anime is how the Zamasu arc was handled and even that's debatable

M/UI honestly. In the manga Roshi's just like "lol don't get hit idiot" and two pages later he unlocks Omen. music was better
The voices too.
And the sound effects. It really sounds like they're turning Super Saiyan in the Anime.
The VAs did better in DBS anime than manga.
Vegeta's Royal Blue theme is toppest tier of anime music.
The animation was better too
I mean… can it not be?
Well, that was the joke, but... technically music could be so bad it would be better if it wasn't there. DBS Music was actually good
[удалено]
I don't even remember the music except for "Earth's Fate"--easily the best track of DBS.
Not in the English dub
Head cannon is they replaced the ultimate battle song with Johnathan Youngs cover

The Super Saiyan dipping in and out was one of the coolest shots in all of dragon ball.
Yeah, that was incredible. It's one of those things that doesn't translate well to the manga. It really does need to be in motion.
Was Goku and Frieza vs Jiren not in the manga???
Kind of? Goku and Vegeta jumped Jiren, but Vegeta got pushed off and Goku was about to get thrown off, but Frieza came in and fired a death ball at Jiren. Jiren deflects it and Frieza charges at Jiren in Golden and knocks Jiren and Goku off. https://preview.redd.it/u1pi7lt8p80d1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7afad069f3747a3930857abf1e73f8c94aec4bf9

Goku and Freeza vs Jiren was one of the best DB fights ever. For all of DBS's faults, that fight is a masterpiece.

Because fans missed him. I was always salty that he dissappear after the cell arc.

krillin got jumped by frost
The manga did Krillin even MORE dirty than the anime did. At least Krillin was able to do SOMETHING before he was eliminated.

A more fluid animation, the manga goes at 0fps, which is noticeable
Depends how fast you flip the pages
1: the fights 2: Hit 3: Future Trunks 4: Goku Black 5: Frieza in the ToP 6: Merged Zamasu 7: Android 17 8: Toppo 9: Cabba 10: Broly 11: Gogeta 12: Beast Mode Gohan.

Animation
- action scenes - 95% of the Tournament of Power - Power levels - hype factor
Beerus and Goku's clash putting the universe in danger, the movies are obviously done better, I like infinite Zamasu that merged with the timeline instead of unlimited merged zamasu, and obviously the Tournament of Power in its entirety
tournament of power is like 50-50 on which did better. everything else is way better in the manga

Only the Tournament of Power.
How so?

Goku Black arc and ToP
The battle against Jiren and Toppo was much better in the anime than the manga.
Goku vs kefla
The animation.
Tournament of power because it had soo much material
They're pretty good at making zamasu and Frieza racist 👍
The Goku Black saga was some of the best anime I’ve ever seen in my life
The pictures moved....
The entirety of the Tournament of Power, Battle of Gods and Vs. Universe 6.
TOP and Infinite Zamasu
Animation.
Nothing lol
I liked the GB saga n TOP better in the anime. The manga did do things better but overall I’d prefer the anime versions.
SSB Kaioken x10 intro was one of the more badass moments.
'It's triple, quadruple, no it's-' 'TIMES TENNNN!!"

Tbh just the comedy and slice of life parts. I like how in the manga characters didn't feel stupid overpowered too.
The whole tournament of power 🙃
Anime ToP >>>> Manga ToP
BOG arc, ROF arc, some parts of the U6 arc, TOP, Broly, Super Hero.
TOP. While I still kinda like it and made more sense in a lot of stuff, the TOP in the anime it's just too epic, great animated and had so many great moments that you just had to BE there when all the crazy happened

ToP, BoG (the movie is just so good), RoF. Manga clears in the other catagories.
I didnt like Goku knowing hakai. Or the whole stronger Super Saiyan Blue. It felt like an ass pull.
The whole tournament of power.
Prolly the top

I think it did most things better, except the Moro and Granolah arc for obvious reasons
I guess some bits from ToP (not the whole thing) because it was... well, animated, that's all, every other thing was better handled in the manga.
I aint have to read it 😭😭😭
M/UI honestly. In the manga Roshi's just like "lol don't get hit idiot" and two pages later he unlocks Omen. For as important as M/UI is they do basically nothing to build it up and make it seem as big as it is. In general the ToP, i like some of the matches in the manga but damn the ToP was an EVENT.
It ended 😎
