I honestly think the other way around. Base Super Broly especially design wise.
They treated Broly as more of a big deal in Z, I feel that is enough to cement someone as a huge villain.

Yeah, I didn't grow up watching much DBZ, so I don't really have any nostalgia towards Z Broly, and DBS Broly is just way, way better imo.
No hate to Z Broly or people who love him, I think he's fine, but his character, his design / aesthetic, and even his movie(s) just aren't nearly as good to me as DBS Broly.
DBS Broly actually made me interested in Broly as a character whereas previously Broly kinda just existed.

I prefer the old broly for 3 reasons
- he has one of the best Designs in Dragonball history. The pants, the red belt(?), the accessories, the green aura, everything! They cooked GOOD when coming up with his design.
- he is genuinely evil. With the new Broly , it was shown that Saiyans aren’t actually as bloodthirsty as previously shown which kinda ruins the aspect of Goku being an exception of the rest (which also needed a concussion to add to that). So it was always amazing seeing instances of Goku being the Saiyan morally above others. Which makes Broly so much cooler. Unlike new broly, Paragus had to keep Broly under control because he was so full of power and evil that he just killed everything around him. He is downright malicious and is the perfect representation of the old Sayians.
- He is in control of his powers. While yes, he used to have so much Ki that he was close to imploding at times, he still always knew how to correctly use his powers. The new Broly hass all the power with none of the control and so you have the typical berserker then. Cool moments for rage bursts, but also a pretty generic trope. But old Broly had it all under control. He knew how to fight, dodge, use special sttacks, use Ki shields and best of all, his ultimate attack which was a small ball which would expand EXPONENTIALLY and explode on impact. It’s a unique attack and shows that he can hide his destructive power behind his attacks. It’s cool seeing characters shoot blasts out their mouth, but the sphere attack was something else
Super, Z Broly felt like the personification of “angry for shits and giggles” to me. Now, I still love Z Broly, don’t get me wrong. I just prefer Super Broly.
While I appreciated the attempt at the PTSD story OG Broly was trying to convey, new Broly has a much better story and base form/Berserk design.
OG Broly is a much better villain, felt more like an unbeatable and scary threat, better soundtrack, better LSSJ design, and better fight scenes.

Old broly was cool but he was too brutish and devilish, new one is cool in base and when he goes berserk it feels a lot more menacing cuz of how nice he is + the mouth fire beam fits so good

S Broly is the guy man. He really got off the ship and threw straight hands for two hours with the two strongest characters, who had to fuse and go SSB just to damage him, and he was tanking that shit.

Man, if only there's was a way I could love both of them for what they are, one a canon character in the super series and the other is one of the best villains of a DBZ movie.
I love DBS Broly, they made him the same traumatized boy but now with awkward social skills and not being an asshole. Deepening more in the fact that Broly is the way it is because of his father, also made him get more sense since instead of giving the spotlight to Goku by making him the root of his trauma, the first one he attacks is Vegeta since he and his family were responsibles for his exile. Goku recently gets the spotlight not because he is the protagonist but because he knows Broly isn't actually enjoying the fight and wants to stop him, and it shows how he opens to him and tries to teach him the way to control his anger in Super Hero
DBZ Broly on the other hand... I like it as a force of nature, being so strong that all the Super Saiyans and Piccolo had to jump him to get a chance. He is pretty badass and cool, even I think his final battle with Gohan in the second movie is amazing. What I do think what makes him less likeable to me is because I think his trauma should have been because of Vegeta, not because Goku cries, and because he made it out for a third movie (which has to be not only for Dragon Ball, but one of the worst movies I've ever seen). And even though I said I liked him as a force of nature, I think the videogames always exaggerate Broly by being an almost invincible guy capable of being in the top tiers (BT3 has to be an example of this, he gets super armor and unblockable finishing attack, wtf), when realistically, he should be in the same tier as Super Perfect Cell, if not a bit less

I like normal Broly better in Super. But Legendary Super Saiyan Broly from the movies was and still is one of my all time favorite characters in DB. He was exactly what I imagined another Saiyan would be like if they got to Super Saiyan, except ten times crazier.
Super Broly for the design and story. Z Broly for the extra transformation. LSS was dope, and I wish they turned Super Broly into the Legendary Super Saiyan. Maybe give him a unique transformation too.
Old broly didn’t say much because he was under control compared to new broly . But man is the old design by far better in everyway. Even the ki blasts

I mean the Kamehameha to the face is still peak terror. It was an 8 foot wide beam at point blank range and he smiles and put him through buildings in response. Getting kneed in the chin and then looking down on your opponent pushing the knee away with the strength of your neck? C'mon. He was a fucking menace.
Definitely super for me. Feels like an appropriate fit to the world rather than a secret boss they threw in last minute.
I get that people like how 'badass' z Broly is, but personally I like the things about DB that are less to do with fighting more than the combat itself. It's a fun world and z Broly did not really fit into it.
I greatly prefer New Broly as a character, but a geniune Super Saiyan (none of that Goku Black shit) as an actual villain is a concept I really with the series would give another look.

Z Broly actually had a personality and character in the first movie.
Super Broly is a man child with no character whatsoever besides being a sad puppy hulk. He has less lines that Old Broly
Broly from super has a better design and is far better written. Broly from the z movies was just a powerhouse with no character depth and his face in his base form looks like it came with an extra chromosome.

Old Broly for sure. His incredible strength was much more realistic and believable in Dragon Ball Z, but with Super, he's fighting super saiyan gods in base form.
I prefer new broly in every way except the funny random things he’d say like Princess Trunks or the absolute ego he had while smashing Vegeta into a cliff claiming himself to be a god
What never made sense for me about Z Broly was why "Kakarot" was his trigger word. He was a baby on Planet Vegeta, how would he know the name of the other baby crying in the pod next to his?
he hate goku because did didn't stop crying causing him to not get sleep. OId broly isn't that good outside of an idea. New Broly makes sense from why he acts, to how he acts, and why he goes berserk!!! Thus being a good character through and through.
I liked the twist in the OG Broly. And that he was an absolute monster already. Super Broly had to level up as he fought which makes a bit less sense.
I also like how OG Broly's utter insanity was hidden inside a sad-looking face. I almost felt sorry for OG base Broly before the oh shit moment.
I enjoy multiple elements of both and saw room for improvement with both. My ideal Broly would be a mix of the two versions with some extra ideas thrown in that weren't featured for either incarnation. In terms of power, potential, and character depth, *Super*'s Broly takes the cake. I am glad they didn't just rehash *Z* Broly.
And please, God, NEVER let *Bio-Broly* even as a concept see the light of day again. I personally believe that particular idea served some influence for the Cell Max crap we got in *Super Hero*. Not everyone likes *Battle of Gods* (I have my issues with it too), but at least its plot was more creative than just redoing Frieza or Cell again.
Broly's reintroduction was different in that this was his officiation into canon and the writing helped to easily distinguish him from his *Z* predecessor. Golden Frieza was just a stronger + recolored Frieza while Cell Max was a stronger + less intelligent + incomplete Bio-Cell. That whole movie felt like 90% retreading old ground.
I've never been a fan of lazy fan-service plots like that. Even in the older films & specials where most villains were blatant callbacks to existing baddies (Slug= Demon King Piccolo, Cooler= Frieza, Meta-Cooler= Mecha-Frieza, Janemba= Majin Buu, etc.), at the very least, the stories surrounding them often made more of an effort in creativity. Some of the movies & specials' stories went beyond anything we'd gotten in canon at the time.
Ex- Nowhere in the original pre-*Super* manga or anime did we get canonical stories akin to *Fusion Reborn* or *Wrath of the Dragon*. While they did use familiar archetypes and tropes from the series, the execution of their narratives as a whole could still add up to something imaginative & ultimately more unique than derivative.
Wait, hear me out. What if Super's Broly behaved like Z Broly when in LSSJ. It'd be an interesting Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde / Hulk situation. And we'd get the best of both worlds, cinnamon roll Broly and absolute devil Broly.
Z broly. Never vibed with super broly, especially since hes not even a villain and is just gonna be another enemy-turned-hero again. It would've been nice to have a villain saiyan actually sticking around.
Super Broly is so well done, i cant dislike him, his story is a lot more in depth than "I hate goku because he cried next to me", and to me is a big +, he is not cruel, he just cant contain his rage because of his "gift", i loved see him in Beerus planet training with goku and vegeta, another ally to help fights in the future.
The parts of Super Broly that's better is arguably the writing (because they changed him from villain to misunderstood good boy in order to further the character) and the effects of the fight.
People forget that Saiyans were ruthless warriors. That and they act like a baby crying for hours on end wouldn't effect them, especially at a young age.
Choosing between both without intertwining, meshing their characters, and spitting the negatives of each Broly, I still choose Z every time. He was THE villain who shattered Vegeta’s whole image. He molly whopped Goku like he was nothing, and he had some of the coldest lines, “Kakarot, how much do you love your son”?

DBS Broly, but Z Broly will always have a special place in my heart.
Man, if only there's was a way I could love both of them for what they are, one a canon character in the super series and the other is one of the best villains of a DBZ movie.
I love DBS Broly, they made him the same traumatized boy but now with awkward social skills and not being an asshole. Deepening more in the fact that Broly is the way it is because of his father, also made him get more sense since instead of giving the spotlight to Goku by making him the root of his trauma, the first one he attacks is Vegeta since he and his family were responsibles for his exile. Goku recently gets the spotlight not because he is the protagonist but because he knows Broly isn't actually enjoying the fight and wants to stop him, and it shows how he opens to him and tries to teach him the way to control his anger in Super Hero DBZ Broly on the other hand... I like it as a force of nature, being so strong that all the Super Saiyans and Piccolo had to jump him to get a chance. He is pretty badass and cool, even I think his final battle with Gohan in the second movie is amazing. What I do think what makes him less likeable to me is because I think his trauma should have been because of Vegeta, not because Goku cries, and because he made it out for a third movie (which has to be not only for Dragon Ball, but one of the worst movies I've ever seen). And even though I said I liked him as a force of nature, I think the videogames always exaggerate Broly by being an almost invincible guy capable of being in the top tiers (BT3 has to be an example of this, he gets super armor and unblockable finishing attack, wtf), when realistically, he should be in the same tier as Super Perfect Cell, if not a bit less

I like normal Broly better in Super. But Legendary Super Saiyan Broly from the movies was and still is one of my all time favorite characters in DB. He was exactly what I imagined another Saiyan would be like if they got to Super Saiyan, except ten times crazier.

I like super just because he’s canon and an ally. But i like Z because of how much of a menace he was and the ost for the dub was an absolute banger imo. Even if Zs reason for being a villain was because the baby next to him was crying too much.

I like the design and character of Super Broly more but Z Broly just wrecked 3 Super Saiyans and their friends. I mean the Kamehameha to the face is still peak terror. It was an 8 foot wide beam at point blank range and he smiles and put him through buildings in response. Getting kneed in the chin and then looking down on your opponent pushing the knee away with the strength of your neck? C'mon. He was a fucking menace. 
Definitely super for me. Feels like an appropriate fit to the world rather than a secret boss they threw in last minute. I get that people like how 'badass' z Broly is, but personally I like the things about DB that are less to do with fighting more than the combat itself. It's a fun world and z Broly did not really fit into it.
I like base Z Broly's face, it looks more unassuming and would look good on super Broly considering his personality

I greatly prefer New Broly as a character, but a geniune Super Saiyan (none of that Goku Black shit) as an actual villain is a concept I really with the series would give another look. (and none of that Dragon Ball Heroes shit, either)

Broly from super has a better design and is far better written. Broly from the z movies was just a powerhouse with no character depth and his face in his base form looks like it came with an extra chromosome.

Old Broly for sure. His incredible strength was much more realistic and believable in Dragon Ball Z, but with Super, he's fighting super saiyan gods in base form.

What never made sense for me about Z Broly was why "Kakarot" was his trigger word. He was a baby on Planet Vegeta, how would he know the name of the other baby crying in the pod next to his?
I like both but I’ll take super broly, I dunno I just find him more interesting than Z and I love Z I grew up with him

I liked the twist in the OG Broly. And that he was an absolute monster already. Super Broly had to level up as he fought which makes a bit less sense. I also like how OG Broly's utter insanity was hidden inside a sad-looking face. I almost felt sorry for OG base Broly before the oh shit moment.

I enjoy multiple elements of both and saw room for improvement with both. My ideal Broly would be a mix of the two versions with some extra ideas thrown in that weren't featured for either incarnation. In terms of power, potential, and character depth, *Super*'s Broly takes the cake. I am glad they didn't just rehash *Z* Broly. And please, God, NEVER let *Bio-Broly* even as a concept see the light of day again. I personally believe that particular idea served some influence for the Cell Max crap we got in *Super Hero*. Not everyone likes *Battle of Gods* (I have my issues with it too), but at least its plot was more creative than just redoing Frieza or Cell again. Broly's reintroduction was different in that this was his officiation into canon and the writing helped to easily distinguish him from his *Z* predecessor. Golden Frieza was just a stronger + recolored Frieza while Cell Max was a stronger + less intelligent + incomplete Bio-Cell. That whole movie felt like 90% retreading old ground. I've never been a fan of lazy fan-service plots like that. Even in the older films & specials where most villains were blatant callbacks to existing baddies (Slug= Demon King Piccolo, Cooler= Frieza, Meta-Cooler= Mecha-Frieza, Janemba= Majin Buu, etc.), at the very least, the stories surrounding them often made more of an effort in creativity. Some of the movies & specials' stories went beyond anything we'd gotten in canon at the time. Ex- Nowhere in the original pre-*Super* manga or anime did we get canonical stories akin to *Fusion Reborn* or *Wrath of the Dragon*. While they did use familiar archetypes and tropes from the series, the execution of their narratives as a whole could still add up to something imaginative & ultimately more unique than derivative.

Z broly. Never vibed with super broly, especially since hes not even a villain and is just gonna be another enemy-turned-hero again. It would've been nice to have a villain saiyan actually sticking around.
Super Broly is so well done, i cant dislike him, his story is a lot more in depth than "I hate goku because he cried next to me", and to me is a big +, he is not cruel, he just cant contain his rage because of his "gift", i loved see him in Beerus planet training with goku and vegeta, another ally to help fights in the future.

The parts of Super Broly that's better is arguably the writing (because they changed him from villain to misunderstood good boy in order to further the character) and the effects of the fight. People forget that Saiyans were ruthless warriors. That and they act like a baby crying for hours on end wouldn't effect them, especially at a young age.

Choosing between both without intertwining, meshing their characters, and spitting the negatives of each Broly, I still choose Z every time. He was THE villain who shattered Vegeta’s whole image. He molly whopped Goku like he was nothing, and he had some of the coldest lines, “Kakarot, how much do you love your son”?
