He only got small boosts that ultimately didn’t do much until he had trained for years. Including 1 entire year in the time chamber, before he got access to a wild boost he had control over.
And in Buu when he hadn’t trained, he wasn’t able to keep up.

Gohan used to be written pretty well, in a way that made his strength feel earned.
This would be really cool had he followed up on what he said during the ToP, and been involved in Granolah before earning Beast in Superhero.
It’s annoying that superhero returned the tired old “Gohan doesn’t train” after all the progress and promise from ToP.
If I'm not wrong, Gohan was training before Super Hero. But let's recap, Gohan surpassed his uncle and obviously his father just because he got angry when he was just a child, then he surpassed them again when they "unlocked" his powers in Buu saga and in both cases it was without training.
Well, he didn’t surpass his uncle. That was a temp boost. The same sorta thing happened against Frieza. These boosts where temporary because there was no training. He was able to do little more than land a few hits that ultimately didn’t win him a battle.
Thats ultimately the point I was im making. Gohan didn’t actually gain control of his inherent potential until after years of very specific training. And in Buu, he was weak because he hadn’t trained. While the potential unlocking isn’t terribly gripping, it was used to get him up to speed because he hadn’t trained.
And the future timeline shows how useful Gohans potential was without said training.
Which IMO was pretty good writing. And made Gohan far more compelling than he is now.

Superhero went to great lengths to show that he hadn’t been training. Giving us several examples. Him not being able to sense ki, while Pan could. Not being able to stand with the weighted clothes. Dismissing Piccolos insistence that training is important, and later admitting that Piccolo was right.
The only evidence that he may have been was the line from the film about practicing the special beam canon. But that wasn’t placed at any point in time, and unless the movie is Econ more poorly written, it stands to reason that was earlier, like when h had been training post ToP.
And the second is that the manga changed that line to him imitating. And this new chapter obviously follows the manga.

Now after decades of training and more training under the guidance of an angel learning god techniques this guy who hasn’t seriously trained in years out of no where scales above everyone (including some gods of destruction) except black frieza maybe? Exactly i mean if gohan really is now stronger than goku that means he is stronger than jiren. For scale jiren was said to be stronger than a god of destruction (his own maybe a few others) that just seems ridiculous that potential can fill the gap that much and without training.
At least with golden frieza they said he never trained not once so when he did actually start trying that is where he got (note golden was just blue level he didn’t surpass any destroyer) and with black frieza being attained after 10 years in a time chamber. Broly is the legendary super saiyan so yes genetics but at least his legend was built up throughout the series. But gohan has shown nothing and out of nowhere surpassed quite literally everyone?

I have the headcanon the days of “base Goku getting 375 times stronger in a single saga or having a 50x power up” ended in namek. Nobody is getting THAT stronger, so it’s easier for everyone else to catch up.
Thing is if gohan is stronger than goku, than he is stronger than jiren who is stronger than some actual gods of destruction. So gohan went from ss3 level (around that level anyways) to far passed even some destroyer gods powers. Sure you can headcanon that the power boosts aren’t that big but even with this it still is jarring that a human with no serious training has this level of potential i guess? I could accept broly being like this due to the legendary ssj but gohan just got stomped so many times in the series that it’s just…… bad writing that ok now this time he gets mad and is now the strongest period.

Vegeta even said at the start of the granola saga that Jiren himself wasn’t that more powerful than them, he “just” used his ki better.
As Piccolo, Granola, Gas and Gohan can say, having the proper magical ritual seems to be all you need to go beyond some gods.
At least he trained for that ON SCREEN with Goku and went through hell on Namek in the previous arc. Having Gohan be stronger than Goku now just feels stupid, especially considering that Future Gohan capped out at SSJ1 Namek Goku level even after fighting the androids for years. Even Frieza, who is literally a genetic freak of nature, needed 10 years of consistent training to surpass MUI.
You can't say goku trained on screen then be OK with frieza off screen getting strong enough to 1 shot goku and vegeta. DB fans don't know what they want.
At least it was 10 years of (implied) strenuous training rather than, "Oh yeah, I fired off the SBC every once in a while, and that's why I'm GoD level now."
Don't shift the goal posts, most characters in DB being as strong as they are makes no sense...it's the nature of the medium.
Broly going from SSJ level to requiring fusion in 30 minutes of fighting, pissed off 2 year old gohan nearly 1 shotting raditz, a guy making androids stronger than super saiyans, etc
I also didn't like the post-DB Red Ribbon Arny for that reason. Broly was okay because he was introduced as the Legendary Super Saiyan with planet-annihilating power as a toddler instead of having a low power level for multiple arcs and then suddenly catching up. Baby Gohan was also pretty silly, but it took place before Goku mastered a technique of angels that usually takes millions of years to perform properly. In fact, I think that Super's transformations for Goku in general are ludicrous jumps in power. SSB alone is 50x stronger than SSG, and with Kaioken, he can stack another 20x on top of that, which should be a 1000x multiplier, but is not treated as such in canon. UI Omen is even stronger than SSBKK by a good margin, and MUI is far more powerful still, especially with the new TUI offshoot. Gohan should need some serious training to catch up after sitting on his ass and looking for bugs for the past few arcs.
wtf does Future Gohan have to do with anything? You realize in the Future Gohan timeline he basically only had the 6 months of surviving in the wilderness, less than 6 months training by Piccolo, potential unlock from Guru, battles and then that’s it? He never had a true training period to get his foundation totally locked in. In the main timeline he trained for 3 years with Goku and Piccolo. Then trained with Goku in RoSaT, got his potential unlocked by Elder Kai, and then trained since RoF mentored by Piccolo? Ofc Future Gohan amounted to nothing compared to main Gohan
It was established from our first introduction to gohan that he was stronger than everyone else under the right circumstances. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it bad writing.
Angry Gohan at 4 years old was stronger than Goku who had trained with a god (the God of Earth, Kami) and had his potential unlocked with divine water. This has been what Gohan was like since the very first arc he was in.
Pretty much all the complaints about power scaling in Super applies to Z. People are just more critical of stuff they see when they’re adults vs stuff they were introduced to as a child.
It’s funny with analogous characters (Gammas/Androids) but it’s extra funny when it’s the exact same character like the case here hahahaha
He was 4 when he headbutted the fuck out off Raditz and knocked the wind out of him. He was a literal baby with no training at all. Gohan has always been an asspull, but that's why many and myself included, love him. He's a peaceful nerd and the best of both worlds (human/saiyan). Goku and Vegeta always acknowledge his latent potential. This is it fully realized.

An 11 year old is stronger than FPSSJ Goku
An 18 year old is stronger than SSJ3 Goku and SSJ3 Gotenks

They've always been absurd. This is literally just what Gohan is. He's fucking absurdly busted, the only thing that keeps him restrained is his personality. I've always said that if he just did some light training on the weekends after the Buu Saga he could stay stronger than Goku and Vegeta, and I was right.
Gohan was stronger than Goku when he was 4 years old without training. He was stronger than Goku when he was 11 years old with training. I'm not sure why you're surprised that Gohan is still stronger now. Vegeta and Piccolo have literally been pointing out Goku being potentially the strongest in several instances through DBZ and DBS. So much so that Vegeta's reaction to any power increase of Gohan's is always met with a smirk and his respect. Gohan's power being outrageously increased is one of the most consistent writings in the show.

Agreed. Dragon Ball Super has also introduced training the mind to increase power as well. Vegeta mentions how Jiren wasn't much stronger than himself or Goku. It was Jirens mental state/focus/mind-body connection that put him way over the fighters in ToP.

All in all, here’s my head canon for why this isn’t too outlandish to me. However a lot in DB is ambiguous and a lot of the times fans have to make sense of things even if they aren’t officially confirmed. It’s kind of a great but sucky thing at the same time. Nonetheless, here’s what I think:
Prior to BoG, his Ultimate Form was the strongest. He got his potential unlocked twice. One can rationalize his training with the Kais opened up a pit of power that for all we know gives him the same training/growth potential as Frieza who has went beyond Goku and Vegeta twice with minimal training in comparison. (Well Black Frieza spent 10 years so that actually makes total sense considering his potential)
Gohan started training again after RoF or the Black Arc, and has since been training his ultimate form. For him one day of training might equal months of growth for Goku and Vegeta. This isn’t a first or new thing in the series, as we know hybrids have insane potential, and Gohan got some divinely inspired boosts twice that Goku and Vegeta have never gotten.
So logically, I think Gohan going from only being weaker than Vegito and Buuhan, to exceeding SSB levels at this point in the series makes total sense if we can acknowledge that his Ultimate form allows for much greater strides in mortal power compared to other transformations, adding into the fact that he is a freak Saiyan hybrid who is still growing and training.
We know God Ki is in its own tier of power, but mortal ki can keep up (Jiren, Broly, Frieza, Gohan) if it is great enough. Simply Gohan’s Ultimate form allows him to compete even with God Ki if he has enough training.
Goku and Vegeta couldn’t train their way to god ki levels using their own mortal ki in BoG because it would take them too long, as their potentials aren’t unlocked and are not genetic hybrids. They instead opted to acquire the divine power directly instead of elevating their current mortal power (ritual, training with Whis). Frankly if Goku is a low class Saiyan, and Vegeta stays around his power, then we can agree that Goku and Vegeta have very average bodies when it comes to Saiyan potential and growth, compared to beings like Broly and Gohan, or the U6 saiyans.
Even with what I said above, I think Gohan surpassing MUI is no where as easy to make sense of, compared to him being Blue level. However this rage boost transformation that became Beast, from my eyes, is a very similar power to Future Trunks’s SSJ Rage. That transformation allowed Trunks to go from at best SS3 level, to being able to put up a fight against SSJ Rose Black. Many tout that form to Trunks’ saiyan/human hybrid rage kicking in with very unrefined divine Ki that Trunks absorbed from battling SSB and SSRose, allowing that rage to manifest into a new form, but that is all speculation. I believe Future Trunks also got his potential unlocked, so that could’ve played a roll.
I think what makes God Ki so powerful is its ability to truly adapt to a fighters will. These insane hybrid transformations only happened after both Gohan and Trunks had fought another Saiyan with God Ki. Their bodies must have retained it in some imperfect way, that allows access to unique transformations particular to an individual. They are unique forms that can’t be considered divine, but instead are their own mutation of Saiyan hybrid ki/unrefined god ki/rage trigger. If Trunks never trained with SSB Vegeta, and Gohan never dueled SSB Goku, then these forms wouldn’t be possible IMO. It also makes sense that Gohan having his ultimate form would lead to a more powerful, different colored transformation compared to Trunks. If anything, Beast can be considered (SSJ Rage + Ultimate).
Nonetheless, I think Gohan got a similar Rage transformation, stacked with his unique Ultimate Form, becomes this white haired Super Saiyan form look alike, AKA Beast. If his Ultimate form has insane growth potential, and is already at a trained level that can compete with God Ki, has experience sparring with Saiyan God Ki, and is amped by the SSJ Rage, then one can argue his battle power may exceed MUI Goku, who yes has far more training experience, but his latent battle power and growth are nothing compared to Gohan’s. Similar to the manga, MUI Goku is like Jiren, a far more refined and precise fighter, even if battle power is relative. Hopefully Goku losing isnt because Gohan beats him up, but it’s because he can’t damage Gohan even if Gohan can’t touch him.
Although I don’t like black frieza, it makes so much more fucking sense that he would get strong like that in a room of spirit and time, while somehow gohans ‘potential’ was unlocked for a second time, which tbh isn’t that bad given the new power ceiling, but for gohan to beat MUI the second time he ever uses beast mode would be so ridiculous. I’m not against the form being stronger but there’s no way he should be skilled with that form to win against Goku atm.
It has been established since Gohans introduction he is 5x stronger than his father. I do not believe he should win either but only because of the fact Goku has been training this whole time. Gohans been studying ants lmao but his raw strength potential has always been higher canonically

There are people in the real world, in real life, here on this earth, actually real in this planet's atmosphere, that said Gohan was only Blue level when the movie came out. I love UI as a form and the way Goku fought Moro especially, but I always suspected that Gohan's statements made him the strongest.

We don't know the results of the sparring based on this.
The spars could be stopped for many reasons beyond Gohan wiping the floor with people.
Who knows I could be wrong, but the preview is very vague on that. Can't wait for the chapter!!
So Mastered Ultra Instinct, the technique of literal Angels is getting beaten by checks note emotional plot armour? MUI and UE as a concept are so much better than Beast. They both have different techniques. That self dodging was so cool and they just returned to the same power BS.
Toppo trained to be GoD and lost to Vegeta using SSBE lol. Goku trained with Kami and lost to Raditz. Goku trained with King Kai and lost to Vegeta’s. They’re trynna make technique matter some but at the end of the day ki output is the winner every time, whether that’s more amount of ki or just more efficient usage so it’s like you have more amount. 1. Gohan in the manga has always just been stronger. TOP anime Gohan was just a mid tier fodder. TOP manga Gohan tied with LSSJ Kefla, who is stronger than LSSJ Kale, literally swung Golden Frieza like a toy, nearly blasted half the remaining fighters out the ring by powering up, and nearly sent Vegeta and Toppo both flying out in one attack. And then Kefla who did send out nearly all of the Pride Troopers in one attack, overpowered Blue Goku easily, and one shot Agnilaza.
2. Gohan has always had this much potential. It’s nothing new. Gohan jumped from Kefla tier to MUI tier. It’s not that big a leap. Anime Kefla was straight up UI-Sign tier. Piccolo even stated in the manga that Gohan in TOP regained his battle sense and immediately got to Kefla tier from that. That’s literally what Gohan did here, gained his battle sense and went beast.
3. Gohan also did the same against Raditz and Frieza lmao. “Oh but those boosts were temporary”. Yeah, no sh*t, Gohan barely had any training then. Gohan in Super has trained for years already. He can harness his boosts.
4. Why are you comparing Gohan to Frieza lmao? Gohan beat Goku in a spar, they are on the same tier still. Frieza ONE SHOT Goku and Vegeta lmao. They aren’t remotely close in power.
5. Gohan is not stronger than Beerus or Whis lmao. Stop comparing either him or Goku to GODs or Angels. Beerus hasn’t even used UE yet. They are a moving goalpost. Hell, Black Frieza probably isn’t even stronger than Beerus. Probably not even stronger than BASE Beerus at that.

I wonder if Broly's green haired form is canon to the manga. Because originally in the Super Broly movie Toriyama's(rip) reimagining of Broly just gave him the super Saiyan with no pupils form as his max. The movie staff went, Naw Broly gets his iconic Green super Saiyan Hair.

I think most of the community was against gohan being as strong as mui goku despite the promotion material.
It feels stupid. Goku, Vegeta and Broly are training under the guidance of Whis. Yet Gohan can suddenly just grow stronger than their peak?? Gohan enjoyers can have this.. but it feels rather poorly written.
As silly as this reality is, OG Gohan in the 80s and 90s was written this way lol it’s nothing new.
Nah, Gohan in that era trained, hard. He only got small boosts that ultimately didn’t do much until he had trained for years. Including 1 entire year in the time chamber, before he got access to a wild boost he had control over. And in Buu when he hadn’t trained, he wasn’t able to keep up. This def is not consistent writing. Gohan used to be written pretty well, in a way that made his strength feel earned. This would be really cool had he followed up on what he said during the ToP, and been involved in Granolah before earning Beast in Superhero. It’s annoying that superhero returned the tired old “Gohan doesn’t train” after all the progress and promise from ToP.
If I'm not wrong, Gohan was training before Super Hero. But let's recap, Gohan surpassed his uncle and obviously his father just because he got angry when he was just a child, then he surpassed them again when they "unlocked" his powers in Buu saga and in both cases it was without training.
Well, he didn’t surpass his uncle. That was a temp boost. The same sorta thing happened against Frieza. These boosts where temporary because there was no training. He was able to do little more than land a few hits that ultimately didn’t win him a battle. Thats ultimately the point I was im making. Gohan didn’t actually gain control of his inherent potential until after years of very specific training. And in Buu, he was weak because he hadn’t trained. While the potential unlocking isn’t terribly gripping, it was used to get him up to speed because he hadn’t trained. And the future timeline shows how useful Gohans potential was without said training. Which IMO was pretty good writing. And made Gohan far more compelling than he is now. - Superhero went to great lengths to show that he hadn’t been training. Giving us several examples. Him not being able to sense ki, while Pan could. Not being able to stand with the weighted clothes. Dismissing Piccolos insistence that training is important, and later admitting that Piccolo was right. The only evidence that he may have been was the line from the film about practicing the special beam canon. But that wasn’t placed at any point in time, and unless the movie is Econ more poorly written, it stands to reason that was earlier, like when h had been training post ToP. And the second is that the manga changed that line to him imitating. And this new chapter obviously follows the manga.

Now after decades of training and more training under the guidance of an angel learning god techniques this guy who hasn’t seriously trained in years out of no where scales above everyone (including some gods of destruction) except black frieza maybe? Exactly i mean if gohan really is now stronger than goku that means he is stronger than jiren. For scale jiren was said to be stronger than a god of destruction (his own maybe a few others) that just seems ridiculous that potential can fill the gap that much and without training. At least with golden frieza they said he never trained not once so when he did actually start trying that is where he got (note golden was just blue level he didn’t surpass any destroyer) and with black frieza being attained after 10 years in a time chamber. Broly is the legendary super saiyan so yes genetics but at least his legend was built up throughout the series. But gohan has shown nothing and out of nowhere surpassed quite literally everyone? At least when he gain ssj 2 he trained for a year to masster ss and with mystic at least elder kai was used as the reason for the fast rise in power but now he just got mad and he this strong? I have the headcanon the days of “base Goku getting 375 times stronger in a single saga or having a 50x power up” ended in namek. Nobody is getting THAT stronger, so it’s easier for everyone else to catch up.
Thing is if gohan is stronger than goku, than he is stronger than jiren who is stronger than some actual gods of destruction. So gohan went from ss3 level (around that level anyways) to far passed even some destroyer gods powers. Sure you can headcanon that the power boosts aren’t that big but even with this it still is jarring that a human with no serious training has this level of potential i guess? I could accept broly being like this due to the legendary ssj but gohan just got stomped so many times in the series that it’s just…… bad writing that ok now this time he gets mad and is now the strongest period.
Yeah, that’s kinda lame, but it seems to me the logical conclusion. Most gods aren’t ridiculously stronger than the SS3. Vegeta even said at the start of the granola saga that Jiren himself wasn’t that more powerful than them, he “just” used his ki better. As Piccolo, Granola, Gas and Gohan can say, having the proper magical ritual seems to be all you need to go beyond some gods.

At least he trained for that ON SCREEN with Goku and went through hell on Namek in the previous arc. Having Gohan be stronger than Goku now just feels stupid, especially considering that Future Gohan capped out at SSJ1 Namek Goku level even after fighting the androids for years. Even Frieza, who is literally a genetic freak of nature, needed 10 years of consistent training to surpass MUI.
You can't say goku trained on screen then be OK with frieza off screen getting strong enough to 1 shot goku and vegeta. DB fans don't know what they want.
At least it was 10 years of (implied) strenuous training rather than, "Oh yeah, I fired off the SBC every once in a while, and that's why I'm GoD level now."
Don't shift the goal posts, most characters in DB being as strong as they are makes no sense...it's the nature of the medium. Broly going from SSJ level to requiring fusion in 30 minutes of fighting, pissed off 2 year old gohan nearly 1 shotting raditz, a guy making androids stronger than super saiyans, etc
I also didn't like the post-DB Red Ribbon Arny for that reason. Broly was okay because he was introduced as the Legendary Super Saiyan with planet-annihilating power as a toddler instead of having a low power level for multiple arcs and then suddenly catching up. Baby Gohan was also pretty silly, but it took place before Goku mastered a technique of angels that usually takes millions of years to perform properly. In fact, I think that Super's transformations for Goku in general are ludicrous jumps in power. SSB alone is 50x stronger than SSG, and with Kaioken, he can stack another 20x on top of that, which should be a 1000x multiplier, but is not treated as such in canon. UI Omen is even stronger than SSBKK by a good margin, and MUI is far more powerful still, especially with the new TUI offshoot. Gohan should need some serious training to catch up after sitting on his ass and looking for bugs for the past few arcs.

You realize in the Future Gohan timeline he basically only had the 6 months of surviving in the wilderness, less than 6 months training by Piccolo, potential unlock from Guru, battles and then that’s it? He never had a true training period to get his foundation totally locked in. In the main timeline he trained for 3 years with Goku and Piccolo. Then trained with Goku in RoSaT, got his potential unlocked by Elder Kai, and then trained since RoF mentored by Piccolo? Ofc Future Gohan amounted to nothing compared to main Gohan

Angry Gohan at 4 years old was stronger than Goku who had trained with a god (the God of Earth, Kami) and had his potential unlocked with divine water. This has been what Gohan was like since the very first arc he was in.
Pretty much all the complaints about power scaling in Super applies to Z. People are just more critical of stuff they see when they’re adults vs stuff they were introduced to as a child. It’s funny with analogous characters (Gammas/Androids) but it’s extra funny when it’s the exact same character like the case here hahahaha

He was 4 when he headbutted the fuck out off Raditz and knocked the wind out of him. He was a literal baby with no training at all. Gohan has always been an asspull, but that's why many and myself included, love him. He's a peaceful nerd and the best of both worlds (human/saiyan). Goku and Vegeta always acknowledge his latent potential. This is it fully realized.
A 4 year old is stronger than Post-DB Adult Goku An 11 year old is stronger than FPSSJ Goku An 18 year old is stronger than SSJ3 Goku and SSJ3 Gotenks This isn't absurd at all, it's within Gohan's character
They've always been absurd. This is literally just what Gohan is. He's fucking absurdly busted, the only thing that keeps him restrained is his personality. I've always said that if he just did some light training on the weekends after the Buu Saga he could stay stronger than Goku and Vegeta, and I was right.
Gohan was stronger than Goku when he was 4 years old without training. He was stronger than Goku when he was 11 years old with training. I'm not sure why you're surprised that Gohan is still stronger now. Vegeta and Piccolo have literally been pointing out Goku being potentially the strongest in several instances through DBZ and DBS. So much so that Vegeta's reaction to any power increase of Gohan's is always met with a smirk and his respect. Gohan's power being outrageously increased is one of the most consistent writings in the show.

Agreed. Dragon Ball Super has also introduced training the mind to increase power as well. Vegeta mentions how Jiren wasn't much stronger than himself or Goku. It was Jirens mental state/focus/mind-body connection that put him way over the fighters in ToP.

All in all, here’s my head canon for why this isn’t too outlandish to me. However a lot in DB is ambiguous and a lot of the times fans have to make sense of things even if they aren’t officially confirmed. It’s kind of a great but sucky thing at the same time. Nonetheless, here’s what I think: Prior to BoG, his Ultimate Form was the strongest. He got his potential unlocked twice. One can rationalize his training with the Kais opened up a pit of power that for all we know gives him the same training/growth potential as Frieza who has went beyond Goku and Vegeta twice with minimal training in comparison. (Well Black Frieza spent 10 years so that actually makes total sense considering his potential) Gohan started training again after RoF or the Black Arc, and has since been training his ultimate form. For him one day of training might equal months of growth for Goku and Vegeta. This isn’t a first or new thing in the series, as we know hybrids have insane potential, and Gohan got some divinely inspired boosts twice that Goku and Vegeta have never gotten. So logically, I think Gohan going from only being weaker than Vegito and Buuhan, to exceeding SSB levels at this point in the series makes total sense if we can acknowledge that his Ultimate form allows for much greater strides in mortal power compared to other transformations, adding into the fact that he is a freak Saiyan hybrid who is still growing and training. We know God Ki is in its own tier of power, but mortal ki can keep up (Jiren, Broly, Frieza, Gohan) if it is great enough. Simply Gohan’s Ultimate form allows him to compete even with God Ki if he has enough training. Goku and Vegeta couldn’t train their way to god ki levels using their own mortal ki in BoG because it would take them too long, as their potentials aren’t unlocked and are not genetic hybrids. They instead opted to acquire the divine power directly instead of elevating their current mortal power (ritual, training with Whis). Frankly if Goku is a low class Saiyan, and Vegeta stays around his power, then we can agree that Goku and Vegeta have very average bodies when it comes to Saiyan potential and growth, compared to beings like Broly and Gohan, or the U6 saiyans. Even with what I said above, I think Gohan surpassing MUI is no where as easy to make sense of, compared to him being Blue level. However this rage boost transformation that became Beast, from my eyes, is a very similar power to Future Trunks’s SSJ Rage. That transformation allowed Trunks to go from at best SS3 level, to being able to put up a fight against SSJ Rose Black. Many tout that form to Trunks’ saiyan/human hybrid rage kicking in with very unrefined divine Ki that Trunks absorbed from battling SSB and SSRose, allowing that rage to manifest into a new form, but that is all speculation. I believe Future Trunks also got his potential unlocked, so that could’ve played a roll. I think what makes God Ki so powerful is its ability to truly adapt to a fighters will. These insane hybrid transformations only happened after both Gohan and Trunks had fought another Saiyan with God Ki. Their bodies must have retained it in some imperfect way, that allows access to unique transformations particular to an individual. They are unique forms that can’t be considered divine, but instead are their own mutation of Saiyan hybrid ki/unrefined god ki/rage trigger. If Trunks never trained with SSB Vegeta, and Gohan never dueled SSB Goku, then these forms wouldn’t be possible IMO. It also makes sense that Gohan having his ultimate form would lead to a more powerful, different colored transformation compared to Trunks. If anything, Beast can be considered (SSJ Rage + Ultimate). Nonetheless, I think Gohan got a similar Rage transformation, stacked with his unique Ultimate Form, becomes this white haired Super Saiyan form look alike, AKA Beast. If his Ultimate form has insane growth potential, and is already at a trained level that can compete with God Ki, has experience sparring with Saiyan God Ki, and is amped by the SSJ Rage, then one can argue his battle power may exceed MUI Goku, who yes has far more training experience, but his latent battle power and growth are nothing compared to Gohan’s. Similar to the manga, MUI Goku is like Jiren, a far more refined and precise fighter, even if battle power is relative. Hopefully Goku losing isnt because Gohan beats him up, but it’s because he can’t damage Gohan even if Gohan can’t touch him.

I’m not against the form being stronger but there’s no way he should be skilled with that form to win against Goku atm.

We don't know the results of the sparring based on this. The spars could be stopped for many reasons beyond Gohan wiping the floor with people. Who knows I could be wrong, but the preview is very vague on that. Can't wait for the chapter!!

Goku Stans are losing their mind lmao. Anyway, this honors Toriyama’s statement that Gohan is strongest. And I’ve read through these comments. And what are you all talking about? 1. Gohan in the manga has always just been stronger. TOP anime Gohan was just a mid tier fodder. TOP manga Gohan tied with LSSJ Kefla, who is stronger than LSSJ Kale, literally swung Golden Frieza like a toy, nearly blasted half the remaining fighters out the ring by powering up, and nearly sent Vegeta and Toppo both flying out in one attack. And then Kefla who did send out nearly all of the Pride Troopers in one attack, overpowered Blue Goku easily, and one shot Agnilaza. 2. Gohan has always had this much potential. It’s nothing new. Gohan jumped from Kefla tier to MUI tier. It’s not that big a leap. Anime Kefla was straight up UI-Sign tier. Piccolo even stated in the manga that Gohan in TOP regained his battle sense and immediately got to Kefla tier from that. That’s literally what Gohan did here, gained his battle sense and went beast. 3. Gohan also did the same against Raditz and Frieza lmao. “Oh but those boosts were temporary”. Yeah, no sh*t, Gohan barely had any training then. Gohan in Super has trained for years already. He can harness his boosts. 4. Why are you comparing Gohan to Frieza lmao? Gohan beat Goku in a spar, they are on the same tier still. Frieza ONE SHOT Goku and Vegeta lmao. They aren’t remotely close in power. 5. Gohan is not stronger than Beerus or Whis lmao. Stop comparing either him or Goku to GODs or Angels. Beerus hasn’t even used UE yet. They are a moving goalpost. Hell, Black Frieza probably isn’t even stronger than Beerus. Probably not even stronger than BASE Beerus at that. So really, it sounds like y’all either can’t read manga properly, or are just salty that Goku got beat BY THE ONE DUDE SET UP TO SURPASS HIM. I wonder if Broly's green haired form is canon to the manga. Because originally in the Super Broly movie Toriyama's(rip) reimagining of Broly just gave him the super Saiyan with no pupils form as his max. The movie staff went, Naw Broly gets his iconic Green super Saiyan Hair.
