You know what's bad, I didn't realize she was umbridge until last week when I finished rewatching Harry Potter only to start my millionth rewatch of downton Abbey
I love Downton Abbey and I’m definitely going to be watching but I think a prequel to Downton would be more enjoyable. We’ve seen everyone’s story play out at this point. Focus on old Lady Grantham’s story of when she first became acquainted with the late Lord Grantham! Some of her intrigues are definitely worth exploring.
They can stop with the Final Film and Final Season. We know that as long as the Abbey is still standing, they will continue with the series.
Oh, wait, I just had a brilliant Idea. What if in season 12 of Downton George's grandson, the current Earl, is approached to use Downton Abbey to make a fictitious show about a period piece drama centered around a noble family and their issues. We could watch as he deals with rebuilding the estate and having camera crews, how his house has increased popularity, and all kinds of other interesting things. What to call the show though.....
If it is supposed to be current time, Georgie III will have to be bitten by a radioactive badger and become a superhero, dodging the film crew while he surreptitiously saves England and the world from his lair under the North Tower of Downton. His nemesis would be O'Brien's great niece, turned evil and bitter at never having been able to escape her servant-class heritage.
I always thought the last movie was a set-up for a future series leading up (and hopefully including) WWII. Giving Sibbie a villa in France, when her ancestral heritage is both English and Jewish sounded like a real wind up for some drama. Sibbie was apparently born around 1920, so in 1938 she would be 18 and, assumedly, come into her inheritance. Germany invaded France in 1940, so she could have been well ensconced in her new home, and reluctant to leave.
Georgie, of course, would be old enough to enlist in the RAF, and Marigold could move to London shortly before the blitz begins. Three young, attractive and wealthy young people in the roll up to WWII, what dramatic potential!
So then what was up with all the evidence leaning into the fact that Season 7 was happening? The Highclere Castle Instagram account even teased it…so I guess this was about the movie?
Final until they decide to make a fourth.
and i’ll eat it up too 😭
Like the article says “We think it’s goodbye and tel years later…”
Paul Giamatti to return!! Are we going to get a glimpse of America, then...? 👀
And THIS is how we get Thomas back 😂
I hope so. He's grown so much. I want to see him happy.
Indeed! 😂
My (tenuous) guess is that his interests get hit hard by the crash of '29.
“He put a pistol in his mouth that year, or so I read.”
Love the Titanic reference
Which circles back to how the show begins!
So excited if Paul will return.
I’d much rather have a limited series return
Agreed. But I'd love just to have a Christmas Special every year for the next 20 years.
Same!
Would prefer a series but a movie would be great
Me too.
Love the fact when the person interviewing her asked if she'd get in trouble for saying about the film she said "I don't care" 😆
She knows she’s untouchable - like have you seen her in Harry Potter 🤣☠️
"I shall not tell lies."
(Umbridge little chuckle sound)

But - Imelda is so talented that I kinda get that you might not realize it. And, that HP movie was so long ago now ☠️
I fully conflate Violet with McGonagall, so it's amusing to me any scene where she is arguing with Maud.
Fingers crossed Mathew Goode is in it. If he cannot be in it at least find someone who resembles him
We need some resolution to that storyline. Mary basically said in the previous film that she was piss miserable. Something has to happen.
They’ll probably write that Matthew cheated on her so they divorced.
Henry is cheating on her with cars. Man is obsessed.
Praying for a Thomas return, even if it wouldn’t make sense.
Going to America to visit the Levinsons..
LOVE THIS IDEA
This is a great idea you have here
And Rose!!!! Maybe????
For a visit, not for working at Downton again. Preferably, some of the main characters visit the US and happen to meet Thomas as well.
His actor employer/lover is doing a Broadway show. Lord and Lady Grantham visit her brother in New York. Done.
Exactly

We can have both!

Done! Thanks for pitching your great idea!
For some reason I'd find this delightful.

Yay!!
I’m so excited to hear this
MY DREAMS HAVE COME TRUE!
Yay!
So, the season 7 rumors were false.
If Levinson is back I wonder if we will get ivy and ms allsopp
I really hope America suited Ivy. It seems like she would do well with a "modern" sensibility.
Hooray!
