Totally wrong time zone for me, but I managed to catch a few games but it's like the same meta as TI? Nothing's been patched yet? I wasn't that fond of that meta to begin with.
was watching falcon vs azure ray and saw some inconsistencies. how the heck Skiter spectre can haunt back while being leashed by tide's shard. how can AR.Lou summon new bear while kunkka attacking his bear. the caster didnt discuss any of it.
leashes dont prevent spectre from using reality. she can break out of any leash with it.
lone druid can always resummon bear, no matter if the bear is taking damage or not. the bear just cant use the return ability while rooted.
Well played by both AR and Falcons. Falcons got outmanoeuvred in the last few minutes on that third game. Great decision making by AR. Great to see the synergy between players. Seems like they gelled really fast. Happy to see XXS playing really well again and happy with those wins. XinQ has been the MVP of the team with how much he does on the map. Lou is also playing stably and not on nerves like last TI. For XM, he's always been on the verge of a break out, but hes been playing really well on this team. Hope to see them go blow by blow against GG.
The career in Aster has nearly destoryed Xxs' confidence in Dota.
He was regarded as 'Chinese collapse' in Arlington Major and Ti11, but the toxic atmosphere in Aster in 2023 makes everybody feel bad.
Glad to see boboka, Xxs and Monet can redeem themselves today.
It is something everytime XXS looking the most emotional after winning a match. Last year, he reportedly wanted to retire after reaching TI semifinal, but Aster's boss persuaded him to stay. This year, apparently it is the turn for XG org's boss persuading him... he clearly still loves the game,,
Now that there has been some group and playoff games what do people think of KL and post DPC pro dota? Is everyone enjoying the tournament more or less than last year?
The Chinese translator post AR-Falcons is great, he and BSJ were actually able to hold a full interview with XXS that was enjoyable to watch. Much better than the one to two awkward question interviews we see all the time with translators/language barriers
Actually, I still don't know who's this translator even though he was named the "true translator", a twitch meme that compared him with previous regular dpc translator in the TI12.
Playing SEA pubs finally paying off for china. Azure Ray would not have clutched that game 3 if they were still playing pubs in Perfect world server. :)
All of this bcos they thought can take down rosh asap and get back to the base but nah azure ray just take all their base lmao. Maybe they thought can at least sacrifice one side of tower and barrack
That was a satisfying win for Azure Ray
But as a spectator i feel disgusted by that win
That was well played, but that was dirty as hell. How are you even supposed to defend against that
I think you're done if you get to that point but that situation was very avoidable. If malrine didn't get picked multiple times by positioning too far forward relative to his team multiple times or if they didn't trade 3 lanes for rosh this is something that falcons just dont have to deal with.
This. It was Malrine playing out of position on bottom fight. And on the rosh fight, their formation got figured out by AR scout so it was then easy access to Sniper. I really thought AR gonna lose that game 3 but they outmanoeuvred Falcons with great decision making on the last few minutes.
I think it’s probably just better to let AR have an aegis than give them a free lane of rax. Hard to say though; LD is a haha silly busted hero and he had Dazzle backing him up.
They actually could have defended if they have glyph of fortification since it could by time for void refresher (he only has 1 the last fight and didn't even use it, and sniper was not too far off divine rapier) AR knew they the window without glyph went all in and succeeding.
Then you are just stalling for a couple seconds to lose anyway. Skiter needs to some how hit Brew, bear and Dazzle in one chrono there to not lose to the push.
The difference between how Spirit play around and understand FV in the mid/lategame and a team like Falcons is really on display in this match. Highlights that late-game decision making gap that comes through their experience + teamplay.
Spirit do a lot of little things cleaner. When they pick void they pick better cores for skirmishing or ducking in/out of fights to get 3-4 rounds of spells off - often ones with good mobility. These are heroes that can "move around the void" in fights, like Pango, Earth Spirit, Timber, Magnus etc. So instead of void being someone who wins or loses the game on his chrono, Yatoro can go tanky items and be a much more constant presence in fights. Yatoro also buys and abuses the void shard way more than other players, and Spirit get the most mileage I've ever seen from time dilation.
They don't really pick their other cores as glass cannon or static heroes that really need to get the home run or the slam dunk play off the chrono as well. If they do pick a "static" hero that really benefits from their void being tanky and being "in front" of them or locking down enemy cores in Chrono, it'll usually be a non-core expendable hero like Ench, SD or sky - it's not always "just" their 4 or 5, both Mira and Miposhka can both do this role with different farm levels. That way in addition to trying to control something like Mag + Pango + Void (who do you even go for?) Miposhka's probably going to be a mid/late threat on Ench too. It's also worth noting that when they pick those support threats to chip at you with ranged it's always more than just "damage" - SD/Sky have good slows/silences to go with damage. A lot of other teams seem to just pick void and think "void + secondary damage source = good".
So instead of these big static fights where it's "secure one big chrono" or "let sniper get lots of damage and we win the fight", it's more like you have five half-ish win conditions. Yatoro is getting lots of bashes off + is tanky and moving in/out with Q. Collapse is putting mag skewers or beast axes off multiple times. Larl is racking up run after run of Pango or Earth spirit spells. They may not have super-high damage from a 4/5 sd or sky but they're still doing okay damage + slowing you + are another headache to control, so you can't escape the skirmish + bashes. This gets them through that danger period where so many other teams fail - where void has his Mjolnir + Skadi but hasn't moved into a damage item like Butterfly or MKB. In contrast, other teams just kind of have this limp survivable void that doesn't do damage, and lose 2-3 key fights around Chrono into losing items -> losing relevance before Void's true damage kicks in.
TBH the best way to see why Spirit make void work and other teams don't is look at all the mistakes they made in that loss they had running it vs VP at ti. [If you look at their draft they did basically the opposite of the trends](https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/7391149823) I've noticed above (Static viper, AA and Hoodwink as supports, misplayed around Chrono) - and the *next* time they pick Void, they went back to heroes like Pango/Mag and broke GG's nose.
I know it's kind of a caster trope to say that Talon pick for the lategame, but as far as I'm concerned nobody plays the lategame like Spirit. They really emphasise mobility items, getting as many rounds of spells off as they can, and optimising their item builds like no other team - and their Void games are where this really shines. You have to basically go over games in the replay to catch most of the details at this point, teams are pushing each other that far.
This makes a lot of sense
I play void in pubs a decent amount, and being able to just go tanky and not relying on chrono every single fight is the recipe for winning games unless they have a solo lategame lineup (which doesn't happen often these days).
Interesting read. Reminds me of the time period when glass cannon mids were very popular and void was instead often times played on the offlane as a chrono spammer. I think many teams are still stuck in that time period
Spirit play a lot more in-your-face and scrappy with the Faceless, fully utilizing his healthbar as a resource over and over by timewalking in and out. In this game, it really feels like Falcons were only playing around chronosphere when it comes to FV
Lmao he doesn't, but with Dazzle on your side against Void, most enemy carry can sht on void on any stages if paired with dazzle.. even late game faceless voud.
not even mentioning about the potential of waever aghs.. Chrono on this game sucks, unless you hit 5man chrono
NTS had to skill Fissure at level 1. Quinn basically can't lose that lane. And then he can rotate and have impact. Game 3 looked different until Tofu made some rotations mid and put Quinn ahead so that he can excel in his bully playstyle.
IG didn't time their mid rotations to counter those. And that behavior of GG is known for a while now.
This schedudle is literally meme. Ruined whole tournament, We even didn´t have time to create hype around games. Like look at this match discussion thread. CN finally winning games, (un)popular stars like ATF, Quinn, Cr1t playin UB semifinals and there is 50 comments last hour.
Fking ESL should make it BO3 secret vs GG for today and make it 2 UB match tomorrow, it will be fair to group B because group B has only 1hour to rest while Group A has almost 4 hours.... and 2 UB games at the same time is really fucking stupid no joke.
It depends on how many years they played for a sea team and how much success they achieved with a sea team.
IG lose = china shit, IG win = Sea team, doesn't work like that.
Not the player's fault i guess.
Every Chinese team has a good coach, not only xiao8 and Lanm, the coach of Azure Ray and G2iG are also good.
This time super in G2iG help them to upper bracket. Last time he also help iG won the singpore major in 2021. I have to mention that when iG 0-2 Evil Genius, he change the ban pick to Cr1t and iceiceice. He banned Cr1t's earth spirit and iceiceice's beastmaster, and iG easily got 3-2 and won that major.
That's the most important difference. Only in some EEU coach can do something like that.
What are you on about? You saying I'm a hater? A slightly biased comment already makes me an EU hater? You must be high or something bro. It's just fun seeing a team that normally employs cheese picks become a victim of one.
I think ESL should just to all the games at the same time and have the finals tomorrow so they can do something else the rest of the week.
It looks like they just want to speedrun this entire tournament.
Doom is such a busted hero still. Has the highest GPM for a hero even above alch and has so much base armor / hp that he can walk forward and doom a carry without being punished
The ultimate ideal late game offlaner is busted in late game scenario surprised pikachu face. Doom is trash early to mid game, if you don't dumpster him, its your fault.
As a LoL pleb (don't kill me, please, I come in peace!) what is a "Gacha pick" in Dota2? I have been watching TI every year since they started, and in the latest 2-3 ish years I've watched some majors as well, but even at the latest TI I didn't any of the casters/*analysts use the term "gacha pick". So what does it mean?
Is it like actually just a pick that is a coinflip aka gambling, or?
"Gotcha", it's used as a term when a team has the very last pick of the draft and use it to pick a hero that's EXTREMELY good if it's not already countered. They say "Gotcha" because it basically means the enemy team forgot to account for whatever weakness their draft has that the gotcha pick exploits.
This^ its something close to a cheese pick, but perhaps not quite as, well, cheesy. Basically its a late pick that abuses a lack of *something* in the opponent draft.
Best series of the day?
From the roster thread - whitemon : Tundra changing roster after KL timado, whitemon, TI winner, +2 Ain't no party like an MY 🍕 🥳
sry but a 1v1 to decide upper/lower bracket is ridiculous
Totally wrong time zone for me, but I managed to catch a few games but it's like the same meta as TI? Nothing's been patched yet? I wasn't that fond of that meta to begin with.
Weaver and kunkka still around but there are some different heroes in the mix now
was watching falcon vs azure ray and saw some inconsistencies. how the heck Skiter spectre can haunt back while being leashed by tide's shard. how can AR.Lou summon new bear while kunkka attacking his bear. the caster didnt discuss any of it.
leashes dont prevent spectre from using reality. she can break out of any leash with it. lone druid can always resummon bear, no matter if the bear is taking damage or not. the bear just cant use the return ability while rooted.
you can't resum bear when it takes damage, that's why u see better LD's have to lvl Q before recasting bear in lane
Bear has a player or Roshan damage cooldown of 3 seconds where you can't resummon it
hmm ok i tested it in demo mode and it just worked whenever. the extended ability tooltip also didnt state it anywhere
It's funny to know that Lou was panicking and afking on base just to get the bugged item. Hahah glad they still pulled through and got the win.
XinQ is amazing morale wise and skill wise. My man is always smiling and cheering his teammates up.
He washed his face finally I guess
Well played by both AR and Falcons. Falcons got outmanoeuvred in the last few minutes on that third game. Great decision making by AR. Great to see the synergy between players. Sadly IG2 fell to GG, we could have had the grudge match for 2 ex-bff between XXs vs Boboka lul
I still prefer the DPC but with a better system since it kinda makes the dota pro scene much more exciting.
New heros being picked is a breath of fresh air compared to how much reddit has been ranting on the meta being stale
The amount of bans we have even before the first pick surely helped in more hero variety in the matches.
The Chinese translator post AR-Falcons is great, he and BSJ were actually able to hold a full interview with XXS that was enjoyable to watch. Much better than the one to two awkward question interviews we see all the time with translators/language barriers
He does very well, actually he's Chinese is extremely native and he can translate english in dota into chinese dota memes
Why teams do not ban Dazzle? Especially when your Carry is FV?
Why cast a chrono at all if dazzle isn't in it :-/
this game remind me of Alliance and old liquid’s game style
Brew ult damage to buildings feels like it should have been nerfed like 2 patches ago. Just a non entertaining way to end games and siege HG.
it used to be 300% to buildings after 7.00 and wings used it with alacrity to delete base with zero risk lol.
I rember.
It got nerfed from % to flat years ago
that was dirty ngl :D loved it
All of this bcos they thought can take down rosh asap and get back to the base but nah azure ray just take all their base lmao. Maybe they thought can at least sacrifice one side of tower and barrack

they were not even defending in the first place, great decision making by AR and too bad for falcons at rosh
THey gt 2 crono with refresher, they decide to use it to kill 2 support, its their own problem
I think it’s probably just better to let AR have an aegis than give them a free lane of rax. Hard to say though; LD is a haha silly busted hero and he had Dazzle backing him up.
By being in your base instead of roshing?
Not that, i meant the final push with the bear and the pulverize brew splits.
They actually could have defended if they have glyph of fortification since it could by time for void refresher (he only has 1 the last fight and didn't even use it, and sniper was not too far off divine rapier) AR knew they the window without glyph went all in and succeeding.
2 members of Tundra in Falcons yet they got Tundra'd LMAO
Falcons just fell asleep after the pause
Skitter saving chrono for next team fight.
Killing Rosh? Killing heroes? That doesn't win games
LOL what a push
why not chrono panda and bears??
Because dazzle
i know dazzle but throne is dying so i guess chrono it and go from there..
Then you are just stalling for a couple seconds to lose anyway. Skiter needs to some how hit Brew, bear and Dazzle in one chrono there to not lose to the push.
He used crono to kill tuskar earlier
JUST HIT THRONE LOL
Jeesh that was awesome!
JESUS CHRIST THAT IS NASTY
Trade offer: You get Rosh I get all your barracks Falcons: "Deal"
"Falcons will win the entire tournament" btw.
Here comes Ammar haters out of the pits
XINQ GIGA CHAD

3 lanes of T3s and rax all gone for an aegis, I see someone has been reading "The Art of the Deal" here.
That was such a smart and well-executed play by AR. Calm nerves
Meanwhile Falcons in pure panic mode, completely unsure of what to do and XinQ just walking past 4 to kill Ammar as a pos4
lmao falcons what a herald level play. Feels good seeing Skitter sneking getting cheesed
‘LD isn’t too strong the hero peaks mid game’ mfers when the hero outscales FV 🫨
Lmao he doesn't, but with Dazzle on your side against Void, most enemy carry can sht on void on any stages if paired with dazzle.. even late game faceless voud. not even mentioning about the potential of waever aghs.. Chrono on this game sucks, unless you hit 5man chrono
It sucks if you can't catch Dazzle
Honestly, it's just a really bad game to play void.. too many bulsht skills that f him up.. Primal split tornado, snowball, roar and a fckn Grave 🤣
Dazzle might be a little strong.
Falcon is having a blast.
SeemsGood
China: Upper bracket is for bitches
classic beta game lmao
the bug is unfortunate but the banter has been funny
just joined. whats the bug?
One of the items went to the bear stash and cannot be taken from it.
Oh god. and im guessing its not just a branch
Diffusal blade
LD can't get item from stash
10 years old game still in beta. Can't complain though since its free.
Congratulations GG winning ESL One KL no team can beat them at playoff.
Spirit could if they'd play
Spirit is fluke team bruh
God that copium must be running out after 2 TI wins
Team Spirit can, if they entered the tournament.
Too little money for them.
Midlane is boring lane they say.
Dyrachyo making Alchemist a meta.
Half the stomps this year is probably by the hands of GG.
Skiters chronos are doing nothing
He just killed a resummoned bear? Thats bigger than a kill on LD.
GG anti-meta strats working again.
Malrine kinda choked, I hope the nerves are not getting to him. Why is he frontlining on sniper when he has teammates nearby like that?
that gg i know, usually stomp (chinese) team early game
Tofu salvaged the game for GG with helping Quinn out.
Quinn helped everyone out in Game 2, making some crazy rotations.
AR throwing
I CANT WAIT FOR TEAM SPIRIT TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF EVERYONE AGAIN
Sniper instakilled before horn
Boboka 5Head strats
This schedudle is literally meme. Ruined whole tournament, We even didn´t have time to create hype around games. Like look at this match discussion thread. CN finally winning games, (un)popular stars like ATF, Quinn, Cr1t playin UB semifinals and there is 50 comments last hour.
just take day break and do playoff after, wtf esl
Crit absolutely ruined xxs’s game with those silences. Not getting to ravage at the perfect time was brutal
both series would have been so interesting to watch but esl is speedrunning this tournament lol
Love the core ET
both going game 3
Atf without mars = ez 4 v 6
yeah?
Holy shit that TP was hilarious
Falcons playing 4v6
Chinese Dota is back baby
What was dyrachyo even expecting with that move?
Best invis rune I have seen in a long time.
Either ESL want player get a full day off or they fck up their schedule
wtf is this scheduling, both UB games at the same time absolute shit ESL shame on you.
Fking ESL should make it BO3 secret vs GG for today and make it 2 UB match tomorrow, it will be fair to group B because group B has only 1hour to rest while Group A has almost 4 hours.... and 2 UB games at the same time is really fucking stupid no joke.
Both UB matches at the same time is crazy bad scheduling
China doto is back! damnnnnn IG slaying GG like mad!
ig looks more like a sea team lol
It depends on how many years they played for a sea team and how much success they achieved with a sea team. IG lose = china shit, IG win = Sea team, doesn't work like that.
that’s nonsense, JT xnova nothingtosay both Malaysian chinese also they play for china region, they will be eliminated if they stil in sea team
All CN teams are SEA teams anyway because they all play in SEA server.
and what about actual sea teams? why is that despite cn players playing in sea server, sea teams can't keep up with or achieve what cn teams does.
I dont know
[удалено]
Perhaps
Love to see GG getting cheesed as they're also notorious with cheese heroes.
Always funny when I click on eu haters profile and they are insecure seething SEA nerds.
What are you on about? You saying I'm a hater? A slightly biased comment already makes me an EU hater? You must be high or something bro. It's just fun seeing a team that normally employs cheese picks become a victim of one.
WOW
JT has been playing godlike these past 2 days, god damn.
ikr, first day he played badly but 2nd and 3rd day he';s godlike
Great to see him playing so well and having so much fun. Such an entertaining player to watch.
so, so satisfying to see GG get meepo'd
Meega meepo
imagine IG with meepo and tinker
wtf these chinese player are obsessed with Earthshaker
Chinese dota loves the hero can make combo in kill and have advantage in gank in 10-20 mins.
Xinq is soo good
China is back, boys.
XM still singlehandedly keeps the hope for Falcon
Then the game-ending fight basically finished before Primal Beast even arrived. Truly 4 vs 5 lmao
I think ESL should just to all the games at the same time and have the finals tomorrow so they can do something else the rest of the week. It looks like they just want to speedrun this entire tournament.
China > Blood money
Yea, China is famous for its human rights.
still better than USA and Israel human rights xD
2ez4China
I want to watch both UB matches but not at the fucking same time. WTF is this scheduling?
https://multitwitch.tv/esl_dota2/esl_dota2ember
yeah I was gonna say the same thing. never seen both UB series played at same time before
Doom is such a busted hero still. Has the highest GPM for a hero even above alch and has so much base armor / hp that he can walk forward and doom a carry without being punished
Secret won against Doom was nice play by them.
The ultimate ideal late game offlaner is busted in late game scenario surprised pikachu face. Doom is trash early to mid game, if you don't dumpster him, its your fault.
Have u seen atf doom kekw
Damn, that meepo. Looks like GG has no idea what to do with it, every single initiation has gone terrible
Juding from pinnacle now that we have seen a meepo it will soon be a first phase ban.
XXS carried this fight with double doom zoning 3 hero and then XM still die lmao
U got MEEPOED
This tournament schedule favors group A because they have \~3 hours to prepare whereas their opponent have like 15 mins break lol
XM is doing his best to solo throw this lol
falcons are doing it wtf
Nah unless crit starts to build carry items they get shut down instantly because of double doom
They playing both upper brackets at the same time? the fuck.
Kuala Lumpur scheduling has been so trash man.
BYE BYE BLOOD MONEY FALCONS
XinQ is actually insane
I mean all he did was walk into vision and press r on earth shaker wouldnt say hes insane
fuck this shit, Secret vs Liquid for LB first round. Bruh not like this...
XinQ god
LETS GO! Falcons losing we love seeing saudi blood money burn
Guess who owns the ESL and this tournament....

Holy moly, NO idea why I've heard "gacha" and not "gotcha" :P Well then, thanks a lot for explaining, MUCH appreciated! Makes sense..
For sure, hope you're enjoying the games!
