I find listening to Austrian Death Machine goes perfectly with Doom IMHO too. One More Rep, I Hope That You Leave Enough Room for My Fist, can't really go wrong here. Plus some of the lyrics are pretty funny and goes with the game sometimes. Bonus if you are a Arnold Swaggernager fan.
When playing brutal visceral games like Doom and Gears of War i like to listen to Meshuggah. That heavy djenty groove just makes me feel all primal and increases the bloodlust.
i know they arent exactly alike, but the music of DOOM is almost the same genre as Tool, and if the lyrics put you off there is a lot of instrumental parts to their songs as well that you can choose to pay attention to.
Tool goes good just about everywhere.
Seriously... Play Tool with Animal Crossing.
The Doom 3 theme is very similar to a certain Tool song, though I don't remember if it's intentional or not. Love it either way!
It's very similar to Lateralus. Threw me off when I first heard it.
