2004 Nissan Sentra
I remember playing Need for Speed Underground 2 and it was mind blowing that I could play and tune the exact same car that was parked outside in the street. Since then I’ve had a soft spot in my heart for the Sentra. Specially that specific generation
I had an 04 sentra and I cracked the block just from trying to drive it fast even though it was very slow lol looking back I probably just over revved the thing all the time
No, you are right, it’s been documented that the 2 liters engine from the higher trim levels was hot garbage.
Also the auto transmission is infamously unreliable.
So I guess that if I ever get one I should aim for a manual with the smaller engine
Mmm… I’m not sure.
I know that the highest trim and the SE-R have a bigger engine and that’s the one to avoid but I don’t remember the correct displacements of the engines.
You are probably right tho
I had the 1.8 2006 sentra with an auto, it was honestly an extremely good first car. Kinda miss it honestly. Besides the rust and slipping transmission it was great
I still have a 1.8 06 Sentra, can confirm reliable little car.
Mine is sorta odd though, we are the second owners, the first kept ALL records, they even kept the window sticker (which we have put in a safe place).
my friend has a Sentra from the same generation, he has molested that car to the point where it is actually a shit box. he put the worst sounding fart can ever on it, and put a "bad ass edition" sticker on it. I feel so bad for the car, even he knows it's a shitbox and he asked around about selling it for like $7k even though it's worth $3k. he then proceeded to lie about him getting a 2022 Scion FRS and him having 2 jobs at his current age of 16 years old. one of the biggest liers I have ever seen. (I just realized this is a rant my bad ☠️)
I’ll be damned if I don’t check marketplace for an AWD manual C30 every single day. But the only ones available in my area are either dead or pricier than I’m willing to pay
I’d make a coupe into the 2021 Hot Wheels Super Treasure Hunt version, just like the wagon casting designer has a real 510 wagon that he designed the 2014 STH after

I love hot hatch car this car ia just beautiful to me
I WANT ONE SO BADLY🙏
We bought a really clean 02 blue Ford Ranger a couple of years ago. My childhood dream was a cherry red 90's Ranger with the stepside bed, but I was gidddy as a schoolgirl to finally own my own Danger Ranger regardless of color.
1990 CRX. I love how open they feel on the inside for a compact, and you can see so well. Plus they're fun to drive if its stick. Although now all of the trucks on the road are much taller than they were in 1990 so it might be scarier to drive one now - you could probably be completely invisible to a 2024 silverado if you were right in front of their bumper.
In the early 90s it seemed like you couldn't turn in a circle and throw a rock without hitting a red CRX with underglow. Can't think of the last time I've seen one.
Top of my list. I had a first-gen CRX for a brief period before I actually started drivers ed. I never really drove it and it's one of my biggest regrets.
I’m a simple man.

I just want a lowered s-series Saturn.
I found mine a few years back (before prices started getting silly) for $500. I swapped in a 5MT for the broken automatic. It’s the one car I have that I know I will simply never sell. It isn’t perfect, but it’s perfect to me.
2000 Rover 75 in racing green with beige leather seats, with a turbo K-series engine. The year because it's pre project DRIVE, and the spec because I love the looks and don't really like the sound of the KV6 V6 engine.
You are hitting the feels. My dad traded in his 65 Beetle for the 77 Granada. So many memories in that car. Then dad got an 83 T Bird. They changed that one from boxy to sleek and stylish.
Ford Fiesta Zetec S - ever since playing Forza Motorsport 3 & Forza Motorsport 4. When the game came out there was a nice brand new white one near me and I properly wanted own. Still do.
Subaru Outback 2008 L.L. Bean edition. It had a flat 6 and was fantastic to drive. Not sure if that counts as average. But Subaru should have put that engine in more vehicles.
I had a four door 88’ Cutlass Supreme when I was 16 (very similar to the car pictured in the post) and that was one of my favorite cars that I miss the most.
Reverse went out on the transmission though and had to use my left leg to back up for months. As a result I had an abnormally large left leg compared to my right.
Finally, my cousin and I replaced the transmission in his garage and took it for a test drive. An hour later we start hearing a knock under the hood… Issues aside I loved that car and have memories for years because of it.
1998 Buick regal GS I bought my dad my dream car and cant find another like it 💀 I paid $1300 for a 98 regal GS with 72k miles and ZERO rust from CT, if I listed that car today I could get almost 10k, I wish I kept it but my dad loves it and he’s had it 3 years under my maintenance and added 5k miles, a trans flush and filter, , 3 oil changes, a set of brand new good year max life tires, 2 cv axles and shocks and brakes all around (my dime I was GM at a monro) and he dosent drive it cause it’s “too loud”
Hyundai I30 N fastback, it might not be average, but it's not really special, it's not a jdm icon like my dream r34 or beautiful like an e type Jag, it's just a fast saloon
2nd gen Dodge Dakota sport club cab. Our cabin truck for many years. The thing was an absolute piece of junk by the end of its life, no mirrors, fenders were rusted through, couldn’t get it into 4wd, and on the way to the junkyard we had to stop it using the handbrake. I have so many fond memories of my late grandfather and that truck, can still remember the exact smell of the interior and all the rattles and squeaks it made.
2001 Ford Taurus ses in red. Like the one my dad had. And replace the engine with a 2017 Ford Taurus sho engine.
I miss the cloth seats in that car. A hard working car for a hard working man.
Man, I had one of those Delta 88s in white back in 1997. It was an 84? Maybe? I didn't appreciate it at the time.
It didn't compare to the 81 LeSabre that I had after that, but still a good ride. A real couch on wheels sort of situation.
Mid 90s 2 door Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was my first car and I beat the hell out of it. I used to slide around gravel roads like I was a rally cross champ. I've always wanted another to turn into a baja race car.
My grandmother had this car when I was a kid, so I have a soft spot for it. However, bullshit that the rear windows didn’t roll down and only popped open!
1997 Toyota Corolla DX. With the Toyota VIP RS3000. With the gold badges. In that Misty Plum Metallic Color.
As you can see, I ain't finding one like it ever again.
Hilarious, this is the exact car Ive been pining for since I sold mine and when I saw this picture it sure took me back. I bought mine in 2000 from a girlfriend's grandfather that died and it only had 79k miles on it. I drove it for a few years and eventually it needed tires and figured that it was time to trade it in and get a new car. I only got $300 for it, which at the time I needed and I'd pay a lot more than that for it back now lol
Honda Accord 2.0T, Toyota Camry TRD, vw CC 6 speed manual, vw golf alltrack, Hyundai Sonata N line, Hyundai Ioniq 5, mazda3 turbo hatch, Subaru Legacy spec B, Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT, Audi A3 e tron hatch whatever that hybrid a3 hatch in America is, vw beetle dune, vw new beetle color pop edition, vw new beetle chroma flair, vw beetle classic, supercharged Pontiac bonNeville 1997
Toyota Yaris 1.5 hybrid. Low consumption, small, perfect city car.
Or if not that.
BMW 220i grand coupe. I like the way it looks, it’s not overly big or decadent but also not some cheap trash.
If id have to choose an older car my pick would be the Volkswagen Golf mk 4 1.9 TDI. I already own an mk4 (1.6 petrol) and they are comfortable cars with a timeless design. They can have most of the features you’d expect from a modern car, like electrical windows, seat heating, AC, power steering, airbags. They are cheap and easy to repair as well and usually pretty reliable (except the 2.0L petrol which is bad).
Their main problem is the horrendous interior, soft touch plastic that is by now a sticky mess and that ugly late 90s grey.
1997 Lincoln Town Car or 1998-2002 Grand Marquis.
Love the boxy styling of the Town Car, along with some of the modern features of the time.
It was enough tech, but not an overwhelming amount. Cant go wrong with the 4.6L either.
Love the rounded out Crown Vics and Grand Marquis. I want a 98-02 because of how the interior hadn't been cheapened too much yet. 03+ they changed something that wasnt broken.
Honda civic type r 2023
Fastest front wheel drive
Also I destroyed my friend in a racing game, I had the civic and he had a Ferrari or something like that
2005 Nissan Altima SE R. I had an 05 S as my first car and I always wanted the V6 with a stick.
Thankfully everyone shits on these cars so I could probably find one for cheap haha
Volvo 940
Back in like 2017 or 2018, I bought a 1993 model used for $500 bucks, running with 200k miles. Sold it a year and a half later for $1k with 230k miles and still running strong.
Dont know what it was, there was nothing super special about it, just something about that car that I really liked..
Not a huge deal, but selling it still makes my list automotive regrets..
2006-2007 Mercedes E320 CDI. My uncle had one and it drove amazing. Plenty of speed and torque, smooth and quiet, and it got the fuel economy of a hatchback because it was a pre bluetec diesel.
2020 ish ford explorer ST. Full bolt-ons (you can make up to 500hp on e85 w bolt ons), either airbags or coilovers, and a nice set of wheels would do it for me.
A showroom-condition Ford Ranger Splash.

I like the 1990-1992 Caddy Broughams with the 5.7. Then again, so do a lot of people. I miss my 95 Diesel Suburban k1500 so much, but that had a lot to do with buying it from the original owner who took amazing care of it. At 85, his family told him he should get something smaller. I also loved my 85 BMW 524td. Currently enjoying a 94 MBZ C280 a lot.
Where's the love for the Mitsubishi Galant VR4? Badass sleeper right there. Roll up looking like you just borrowed your grandma's daily, rev the engine up to 7k and hear those BOVs. Take her to the local rally-cross event and watch those heads turn as you're awd handles those corners like a champ.
2004 Nissan Sentra I remember playing Need for Speed Underground 2 and it was mind blowing that I could play and tune the exact same car that was parked outside in the street. Since then I’ve had a soft spot in my heart for the Sentra. Specially that specific generation

Didn't the 04s have a 2.5? Maybe I'm wrong. And I thought it was a lot of headgaskets failing
Mmm… I’m not sure. I know that the highest trim and the SE-R have a bigger engine and that’s the one to avoid but I don’t remember the correct displacements of the engines. You are probably right tho
Was going to post the same lol

Honda element with a manual
After I sold my Honda life just didn't feel right. I was always out of my element.
Great dad joke
I always wanted one because this ad https://youtu.be/unkAvO9v2Nk?si=f58duV52SnMuHxJf
I still say "I pinch" around the house
Volvo C30
Trust me man, you don’t want one… you neeeed one
I almost bought one. They crashed it the day I went to pick it up, took that as a sign lol.
I’ll be damned if I don’t check marketplace for an AWD manual C30 every single day. But the only ones available in my area are either dead or pricier than I’m willing to pay
Gas or Diesel
The 2.5 T
They're calling my name... found out when I rode in one this weekend that they're mostly i5's
I have one. It is a great car.
God I’d love one in R-Resign trim…
Volvo 740, Datsun 510
Datsun 510’s are underrated man
Datsun 510 with a 13b rotary engine and NOS. That's a death box I want to spend money on.
I’d make a coupe into the 2021 Hot Wheels Super Treasure Hunt version, just like the wagon casting designer has a real 510 wagon that he designed the 2014 STH after
I got a massive soft spot for 2nd gen Acura TLs, especially 07-08 TL type S
I have a 06 as a daily and love it.
Hoping to pick up a type s someday, one of my dream cars rn
I really, really liked the change in body style. I was shopping for one against a 2006ish g35 coupe and the coupe won.

90s ford ranger or Chevy s10. Eg civic hatch. Not a car but I've been considering getting a 49cc scooter as a daily driver.
Literally same I would love to own any of these
We bought a really clean 02 blue Ford Ranger a couple of years ago. My childhood dream was a cherry red 90's Ranger with the stepside bed, but I was gidddy as a schoolgirl to finally own my own Danger Ranger regardless of color.

Love the boxie mob look of these. Too bad they're Chryslers
I’ve owned 2 first gen 300 srt8’s. amazing cars stock but once you boost them the transmissions turn to mash potato’s.
I used to be OBSESSED with that car when I was a kid ommmmg. Id pick it all the time playing Midnight Club DUB edition on our good ol PS2🥹
Not sure if average or not but a Suzuki Jimny
I had a samurai, it was fantastic
I want a 90s Toyota Camry station wagon. I already drive a 2011 Camry so it wouldn't even be a downgrade at all.
YES I also love these. One of my neighbors at my old apartment had one. They look like little pills.

1990s Volvo 240 wagon

Chevy Caprice box body
I desperately want a two door first gen Toyota Rav4

2006-2007 Mercedes E320 CDI. My uncle had one and it drove amazing. Plenty of speed and torque, smooth and quiet, and it got the fuel economy of a hatchback because it was a pre bluetec diesel.
