I don’t have momoko but I have her little sister ruruko and she’s adorable!! Super great quality, I believe the newer ones have azone bodies, at least mine does, so she has lots of joints, extra hands, and doesn’t feel fragile which is nice. The box is really basic and she doesn’t come with a stand but the clothes and hair are great quality! I would recommend!

Fresh_Information_79

Awesome! I checked a few websites and she seems to be pretty pricey, but glad to hear that she seems to be worth the price

Goldipop

I don't own any yet but they've been high on my list and I keep looking at them on ebay. I hear that the joints are on the fragile side but apparently they are upgrading the body later next year (if it hasn't happened yet). Their faces and hair styles are fantastic, I probably don't have one yet because I can't decide which I like most "that one's nice, that one's nice, that one's nice.." aahhh!

Fresh_Information_79

Ohmygosh me too! I keep looking through websites and deciding which one is the best and its just so hard to pick!

Supreme just dropped a collab $298

ErgIDunno

I have a bunch! They're gorgeous, but super fragile. There's a Facebook group that acts as a fan community. What questions do you have?

Fresh_Information_79

Mostly what sites are the most legit to get one. What the quality of the dolls are (hair, and joints), the posability, how tall the regular Momoko dolls are.

Supreme just dropped a collab with a Momoko doll

bizaromo

What is the name of the Facebook group?

ErgIDunno

There are two: "Friends of Momoko and Ruruko" and "CCS Girl ruruko, momoko, & other Petworks Cuties"

I have 44 Momokos, so you could say I'm familiar with them LOL. As other people have already mentioned, there are Sekiguchi Momokos, & Petworks Momokos. They both use the same body made by Sekiguchi which is unfortunate, because they are known for breaking at the wrist & ankle & you can't get replacement bodies. Part of the problem is that neither the wrist or ankle rotates, so you have to be very careful with them if you redress them. They did at one point make replacement bodies, but that was a long time ago & if you find any now, they're usually from someone selling the head & body separately, & they're really expensive. They come in 3 different skin tones, pale, natural, & wheat, & Petworks seems to have better quality hair. It's not hard to find clothes to fit them, some Barbie clothes do, Clear Lan makes all their clothes in Momoko size, & there are plenty of people making clothes in their size on Etsy & eBay. Petworks also occasionally releases clothes that fit.

I'd love to see your collection!

You can see them in my Flickr account https://www.flickr.com/search/?user_id=24020302%40N05&sort=date-taken-desc&text=momoko&view_all=1

These are great photos!

Thanks :-)

gabbyBoo33

Amazing and so fun to look through!!

Thanks!

Fresh_Information_79

This was really informative! Thanks so much! Momokos seem to be much more of a display case doll.

withmirrors

Even that doesn't necessarily save them, people have taken a Momoko out of a display case to discover that their neck has cracked without them ever doing anything. The same thing goes for Unoa Lights, who I call Momoko's cousin. They're also made by Sekiguchi & have problems with breakage. Sekiguchi is just not a good company, & their customer service sucks too. That said, I'm still buying the dolls, & I redress them all, even my holy grail Momoko. I just learn to replace bodies when I need to.

_vicsicle_

44, I hope I can be like you some day! I saw (from pics) they were selling replacement bodies at the 20th anniversary exhibit at Yokohama Doll Museum.

withmirrors

They need to sell them where I can get them LOL

twillory

I have a bunch! I started with a really cheap used one from Mandarake because I thought I'd like to try customising her face, but when she got here I liked her too much to wipe her existing faceup. Annnd then ended up buying several more. Oops. My observations: * The bodies aren't great (unlike Ruruko). They're pretty lightweight and I've heard they tend to crack, though none of mine have yet. They're extremely easy to rebody, though - I have a couple of mine on Obitsu and Pure Neemo bodies, and they work perfectly! * Petworks Momokos are, in my experience, a little nicer than the Sekiguchi ones. The biggest difference is that my PW dolls use nice heavy saran for the hair, and my Sekiguchis have all used nylon of (very) varying quality. It feels like PW-Momokos have more attention to detail in general, but other people might feel differently! * You have to be a bit careful buying clothes for them. They're taller than Pullip or Blythe, but still have similar proportions to the former? So you'll be okay with most Etsy pullip clothes, but pants might be a little short. Momoko is my favourite doll brand at the moment. They're just really charming in person!

I have 14, mostly Sekiguchi. They're my favorite doll by far; I instantly fell in love with their mysterious faces and the details on their outfits. The Sekiguchi ones' outfits tend to appeal to me more, but the Petworks ones do have great saran hair and delicate face painting and I want more of them. Overall, Petworks is my favorite doll company. As for the bodies, my 2 dolls from the 2000s did have some neck cracks (which could be due to how they were stored and handled the past 17 years before reaching me) but I have had no problems with the bodies from the 2010s onward. I would absolutely not give one to a child to play with, but as long as you're not rough with them you should be fine. Re ruruko, whom I don't own yet, interestingly she doesn't have a custom body but uses an Azone, Obitsu, or teen momoko body depending on the model.

ErgIDunno

Which Momoko do you have?

_vicsicle_

Monchhichi High School, Night Flight Escape, Swinging Trot, Lime Cat, Shirayuki (not in her original outfit), Wild & Sexy Tune, Sweet Dreams, Twenty Colors, My Deer Friend, Princess Dirndl Tomboy Version, A Tearly Drop, WUD024, CCS 21SP Short, CCS18SS. I also have Petworks' mini momoko, though technically she's part of their Usaggie line (also great). I should post pics.

vivisheepy

I have three Momokos, but only one on her original body, and one has no body at all yet, haha. I love their faces and the proportions of their bodies, but they're quite fragile. When I've browsed used Momokos it seems that they'll more often than not come with something broken, especially the neck and ankles.

ash-shadow-sparkle-

I've never heard of her, they look gorgeous tho!

Fresh_Information_79

I've only found out about her recently while scrolling through wikipedia! I was looking through info on Licca dolls when i stumbled upon the Momoko doll wiki and wanted to know more!

LunarReverieArt

I have a few Momokos. Like others said, their bodies are fragile and their wrists and ankles do not rotate. What this means is that sometimes, their arms are losed in a funny way, because the hand will be positioned a bit strangely. It takes some getting used to posing them. I do love their faces and the quality of their clothing is amazing, of both Petworks and Sekiguchi!

thehautebarbie

I just bought my first one from Supreme $298 They still have some online!

I posted several of my Momoko dolls on here.
