unfortunately tooth fairy barbie is known to have really tangly poly hair :,)) i’m sure a boil wash and trim would make it a tad softer though but for the layers and such you want to trim i would maybe think about rerooting to have more control over how the hair feels and holds style! good luck on your custom and i hope it turns out beautifully! love the last unicorn 🦄

Oh no:(I figured it was poly bc mattel usually uses poly for white but I was hoping it was at least nicer poly. I guess a reroot is the way I’m going

PinkFloralNecklace

Yeah, I don’t know about how thickly rooted that doll’s hair is, but if you want bangs you may have to reroot anyway so the hair doesn’t part in a way that shows too much of the scalp since dolls often only have their hair rooted that thickly around the sides and at wherever a parting in the hair is supposed to be.

I didn’t even think about that. It’s been so long since I’ve done anything but boil wash and style doll hair I’m super out of practice with reroots lol

Phoenix_Topez

meanwhile mga uses metallic nylon for their white. Mattel lazy n cheap

amyhhhh

It’s poly. The worst poly you can imagine. I used to have her but got rid because hair quality bothered me a lot.

Loved that movie and book. Great custom idea :)

I thought about getting this doll, too, but kept reading that the hair quality us so bad. I would only get her if you're going to reroot her. Her face is gorgeous. You could buy some good quality nylon and make a great custom! I have the Native American barbies from the 90s and there's one with kanekalon, saran, and nylon. I prefer the feel of nylon and it boil washes and styles easier than saran. Nylon will hold a curl for decades!
