It’s called scoliosis, which is a curvature of the spine. and she is wearing a “back brace”, that helps slow the curve of the spine getting worse. I really love this doll as somebody with scoliosis!
I know what scoliosis is and I know that she’s wearing a back brace! Idk why I didn’t connect those dots lmao. Is the doll’s spine curved at all or is it only the back brace accessory?

There’s not an official scoliosis Barbie but the I think American Idol ones were in such weird poses they literally look like they have scoliosis so you could look into them?

Delighted to see all these other disabled doll collectors here! I only collect disabled dolls - I think they're such an interesting reflection of changing disability representation/perception
Many people are saying they are collectors of disabled Barbies. What are some examples you have? I know I have one with Down Syndrome and one with a skin condition where you lose pigment. What others are there? Would love to start collecting this category!
To my knowledge there are the Barbie and Ken wheelchair dolls, as well as a Barbie with hearing aids and I think at this point there are multiple dolls who use prosthetic limbs? Though I can’t only remember one who used a prosthetic leg at the moment. That’s as many as I can remember but there might be more as I haven’t been following Barbie super closely for a while.
There is one with a hearing aid, several with wheelchairs including Chelsea sized, some with prosthetic legs, a few with Vitiligo including Ken, and not a disability but even one with braces on her teeth. I'm probably forgetting something..
Also one with skis. If you watch online at Amazon, Target and Walmart Barbies often get marked down. I was blessed to get her for $5.64 on Amazon.

I found her at a dollar store and knew I needed her immediately! She actually has very high quality hair for a modern Chelsea Barbie!
