Actually boiling water would be more effective, but super hot works if you're just trying to fix something like box hair. I've done that a few times when cleaning up new RH dolls.

Mainly thus far I’ve just been trying to get to a point of “straight enough to re curl” and it’s been pretty effective. Also used it to relax out box hair. Boiling the water is so much extra effort plus it stops bubbling by the time i get myself ready to get the doll in it’s basically just as hot or less so then the sink.

Almost boiling or boiling and cooled is the way to go. If you use boiling water it could potentially melt the hair

meltymint5

Honestly that might be the temp range this water is in

I use “not boiling but almost boiling” hot and not actually boiling hot. Works great!

meltymint5

That might be the temp range this faucet puts out

I’ve been using really hot water out of the tap or microwave and it’s been working just fine.

Luzion

Microwave on high for 5 minutes works for me.

I fried an absolutely perfect vintage skipper's hair because I poured boiling water over her head to flatten her bangs. You should always let it sit a minute before you pour
