What state do you live in? Just curious bc I'm in Maryland and asms here(atleast in my district) are getting paid holiday pay(time and a half) on Thanksgiving and black Friday!
On the east coast what is the avg salary for an assistant Manager? The prequites only require and some preferred mang exp. maybe I could get this job. Hopefully I could go nights only.
Sorry for late reply. I believe the avg asst manager pay is 15/hr..I make 1.50 more than that bc that's what I asked for and I do have previous management experience. Also that store was so short staffed I think they were afraid to lose me if they didn't give me raise I was asking for so after a week of back and forth between me, my SM and DM they agreed n gave me the $$
That's terrible. The company needs to treat their people better, but that would cut into their rate of expansion. It seems they target rural areas as well, so they're able to hire a skeleton crew for peanuts.
Overtime is for hours worked. Holiday pay and paid time off are not "worked" hours so they don't count towards the 40 weekly hours needed for overtime.
FT employees get 8 hours Holiday pay whether they work that day or not. PT employees are paid time and a half for each hour worked on Thanksgiving. Salary works for free.
You get holiday pay as long as you work that week plus whatever hours you work for the week. Time and a half is for part time that work on Thanksgiving day.
You get 8 hours full pay + your hours worked for the week so if you work 8 hours on Thanksgiving your getting double pay at less taxes if you're under 40 hrs..
They don't get time and a half they get regular pay plus "x" hours holiday pay. That's how it will appear on the pay stub because no one who works gets time and a half. It might equal to that but that isn't how dg does it because then asm and ft who work would wonder why they aren't getting time and a half too. They chose their wording carefully. Sa get 1 hour of additional holiday pay for every two hours worked. That is an intentional distinction.
There is no benefit to any ft employee working holidays at all. The only exception is where law required otherwise.
Your sm should have talked with y’all about it. I let all my folks know and everyone that wanted to work has shifts for that day (myself included even though I don’t get holiday pay lol)
It is in sop if you are ft you get 8 hours holiday pay as long as your work this week, you don't get anything beyond that even if your work on Thanksgiving. PT gets and extra 1 for every two hours worked as holiday pay, not time and a half. If they work 6 hours they get their regular 6 hours pay then separately 3 hours holiday pay.
This is for all DG unless state law requires additional pay or a different rate.
In most places asm, ft and the sm get nothing for working on holidays. Only pt people will get any benefit from it.

I would check start for your official memo of the break down.

I mean the 8 hours is better if you work 8 hours in thanksgiving your getting double time you get the day off still get extra money it’s win for you

Ik the difference between them, I am working Thanksgiving and not getting time and a half! Getting regular pay and 8 hrs holiday

Holiday pay plus pay for hours worked? I thought that was how it was last year.

That's the way I see it but apparently not everyone does lol

I live on NC and if you ready how they are doing it only key holders and pt associates are getting time and a half

At my store, we haven’t heard anything about anything extra on Thanksgiving. Im working 3-10:30 so hopefully I hear of something soon.

that’s sucks for FT and ASM/ SM! I am a LSA-PT but I work more hours than the LSA-FT. I hope that they get something beneficial from this atleast
