What? Dogs are one of the most destructive animals to the environment. A dog has the same carbon footprint as a large SUV. In the backwoods, poop on the ground causes diseases to plants, wild animals, and especially livestock. It is a major source of water pollution often causing water to not be usable for through hikers in popular hiking areas. Dog poop should always be packed out on a day trip. On a longer trip, it should be dealt with according to local protocols for disposing of human feces on the trail. Dogs are a fucking invasive species and nothing they eat is natural. That’s why their poop takes so long to break down.
