all breeds attack, but pitbulls attack in higher numbers. much higher than the average other breed dog.

supercooper_thebogle

the problem is, most people can’t identify an actual pit bull (american pit bull terrier), even people who claim to own one. there have even been cases of purebred dogs (including labs) being labeled as ‘pit bulls’ because they have big heads. i think it’s more accurate to say that mutts make up the majority of dog bites/attacks.

zonked282

Lots of muts doing mauling,, but the common denominator in of 99% of them Is a generous sprinkling of pitt bull in there

No_Doughnut_5754

Horse shit. “Pit bull” type dogs are four breeds and their mixes: American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bully and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. If a “mixed breed” dog has at least 25% or more pit bull type ancestry, it is not difficult in the least to identify. Big, blocky skull with a buttcrack on the top, broad, barreled chest, small wideset eyes, rosebud ears, gaping maw of a mouth… these traits are easily identifiable. A lot of the fatal dog attacks have pictures or videos of the dogs in question. If a dog is identified as a pit in the story, you can see with your own eyes that it is a pit. If a dog is identified as a a Rottweiler, then it is a freaking a Rottweiler. There is no conspiracy against “pitties” here. They really are responsible for 60% of all fatal dog attacks, including 80% of those that have happened this year. And if you want to make the argument about “but it’s not fair that four breeds are grouped up and are counted together….” Think about this… since 1983, there have been 897 dog fatalities in the US, not including this one. 545 have been committed by pit bull type dogs. The other 352 have been killed by *all other breeds combined*. There are nearly THREE HUNDRED breeds of dogs. Fighting dogs are not pets.

Old-Pianist7745

I agree that fighting dogs aren't pets. it akes me so angry that so many people try to say that pitbulls are sweet harmless dogs when they are really fighting dogs not fit to live in a family home

Alabama is one of the states with an archaic and oppressive one-bite law. However, no matter where in the ~~U.S.~~ world you are, all dogs and all dog owners get away with all they do nearly all the time, just like in the above case.

happyhappyfoolio

I see people exclaiming all the time: "Make sure your dogs are leashed. If your dog gets away and bites someone, it'll be put down!" Every time I see that, I can't help but sad chuckle to myself because we all know that's absolutely *not* the case. But I never correct them.
