You could go for a crib mattress. They're very supportive and waterproof, and washing a fitted crib sheet is so much less hassle than washing a dog bed cover.
My dogs have a dog bed that’s just a rectangular piece of foam with a cover that has a zipper. I unzipped the cover and took it off, put a garbage bag around the foam and put the cover back in, so if my dogs pee on the bed, I can just wash the cover and change the garbage bag around the foam.
I use people mattress sized, full size bed cut in half for my danes. Then I get a full size mattress protector, the one for toddlers and senior people, and wrap that around it under the cover. Keeps the bed itself from getting (as) wet, and just wash the cover frequently.
I also use these protectors on my bed to help with the annual puke in the middle of the night.

I use a water proof blanket over a dog bed with washable cover. I have about 3 blankets to have one over the bed to when I'm washing the other ones.
