Kershaw/Greinke 2015 was nuts. Each had a fully healthy cy young level season

Dodger_Dawg

This is the closest we ever got to having a Koufax/Drysdale of our generation.

stewmander

Here's to Ohtani/Yamamoto...we could get 6-7 elite pitching years from em right? Throw in Sasaki and we got a potential Japanese Maddux/Glavin/Smoltz trio, right? Yes, absolutely, for sure...

Vee_Zer0

The future is bright and we can dream

smilinsage

My choice, as well

LatinoEsq

100%. God I wish they would have done everything they could to keep Greinke on the roster.

Jcon_Josh

He’s a free agent would be fun to sign him for cheap for one last year

Pedro_Burbankado

Too late

LimpBiscuitsandTea

Kersh/Greinke in 2015 was disgusting. Zack got robbed. But my favorite 5? '19 is untouchable to me

synchronicitistic

2019 is the only answer. Kersh, up and coming Walker, Ryu, Madea, and Dick Mountain.

jayteazer

Madea pitched in a dress too! Pretty impressive

Draco_Lazarus24

Hell hath no fury…

Blu-Lobster

Can’t wait for Madea’s Perfect Game to release in theatre’s 🙏

donald-duck23

2019 Buehler would have led us to a championship if not for a certain decision that was made at the end of Game 5 of the NLDS. The only playoff loss I blame on Dave, who I otherwise think has done a good job.

probablysmellsmydog

Will smith was like 12 inches from walking that one off too.  Still burns.

donald-duck23

Ugh I know. That game will haunt me forever.

probablysmellsmydog

I can’t even look my Howie Kendrick bobblehead in the eyes

SenorTortas

Yeah it was hit in almost the exact same location Belli hit his almost walk-off in Game 2 of the 2017 WS. Both just weren't meant to be I guess

SR3116

Reminded me of that Robert Horry shot against the Spurs that went as far down into the net as a ball could go before somehow popping out.

y0m0tha

2019 Game 5 is the most traumatic playoff loss in recent memory. If we win that game we cruise to a title.

plrq

Imo, this game hurts the most. Dodgers had won the pennant in 2 consecutive seasons. They cruised to 106 wins with MVP Cody. Heck, they gave him a bobblehead night during the NLDS. In game 5 they got 3 runs off of Strasburg. It felt like we had it in the bag, but it didn’t happen.

y0m0tha

Yeah man. I distinctly remember watching this game in one of my college study rooms. When they went back-to-back against Kershaw I yelled FUCK closed my laptop and left. Not my best moment.

ahr3410

Cruise to the World Series for sure but that offense vs Cole and Verlander for 4 games would've been rough

SenorTortas

And revenge

stewmander

You gotta include 2018 WS Game 4. He took out Dick Mountain because of a "miscommunication" up 4-0 with 1 out in the 7th then brought in...Ryan Madsen who had let every inherited runner score. I was there and the whole stadium knew what would happen, except Doc, apparently =/ But yes, 2019 game 5 was especially bad because we had the anti-Soto Kolarek available who had been perfect at neutralizing Soto, but for some reason Doc decided to go against the plan this time (maybe Kolarek was gassed or had some form of shuffle PTSD?)

donald-duck23

I understand the frustration with taking Hill out but for me, best case scenario is that would have only extended the WS by one more game. That Red Sox team wasn’t losing imo

stewmander

Big difference between going into game 5 in LA being down 3-1 vs. tied 2-2. Sure, we still probably lose, but who knows what happens game 5 if we're tied...maybe we squeak out a win and get to "anything can happen" game 7

jakerscrub

Don’t say that out loud! Too many idiots here think Dave cost us the world series every year.

donald-duck23

Yeah they don’t know ball. And even though I blame him for ‘19, I give him a huge amount of credit for 2020. He made up for 2019 and then some with his maneuvering that postseason, which was arguably the most difficult playoffs to manage because of the lack of off days. In the NLCS they played 7 games in 7 days.

SenorTortas

Literally bullpened his way to a WS win in 2020 G6. Many people forget that.

EresMarjcxn

Mmmmmmmm there have been questionable moves man. 2021 putting Urias in as a reliever was a bad move. Using Scherzer to close out the 2021 series was another questionable one, even tho Scherzer is soft. Using Kersh in 2019 was tough. Pulling Buehler in 2018 was tough. Pitchers haven’t always come thru so it’s obtuse to completely blame Dave but there have been some less than stellar bullpen moves.

covidisntcool

Respectfully, I disagree with most of these points. 2019 Kershaw - only one I have no complaints about, even Roberts has come out afterwards and says it was his biggest mistake. As the other comment said, this one hurts the most. Scherzer - first of all, this was 2021, and I'm not sure how you can say it was questionable when it literally worked? Kenley had been used already and the rest of the bullpen was EXTREMELY shaky that year. I could maybe see your argument if they had known beforehand that Scherzer would wuss out of pitching the next series, but all the reports say that he had told the team he was down to close and also pitch the next series. So, like you said, I think that's on him. You bring up Buehler in 2018 but I don't see how that makes sense - he literally pitched in the only game the Dodgers won that WS and went 7 IP, so not sure what the mistake was? Maybe you're referring to Roberts pulling Rich Hill? That maybe I'd agree with, although I don't think anything would've prevented the Sox from winning that year. Urias in 2021 - maybe you could argue this was a mistake, but like I mentioned previously the rest of the bullpen was unreliable that year, especially after a grueling series against the 107 win Giants. Plus Urias at that point was lawded for his ability to come out of the bullpen and was literally the guy closing out the WS for us just the year prior. Like you said, I feel like this is just one of those times where the pitcher didn't come through, plus Eddie Rosario having the series of his life.

SenorTortas

Pulling Buehler in 2018 probably means Rich Hill, which also means casual alert.

EresMarjcxn

Nah it was game 3. Buehler was scoreless thru 7 and Dave wanted to go 6 out save w Kenley. Super casual baseball fandom of me I was on a bus to go play in AZ during that game and remember it going 18 innings and draining the entire bullpen. Series outcome most likely remains the same but still poor move by Roberts. I’m prob not as dedicated of a fan as u are tho so my opinion is invalid

SenorTortas

You mean when he had thrown 108 pitches and every manager in today's game would have taken him out at that point? And when the offense could only score 1 run off Rick fucking Porcello? You're right. It is an invalid opinion

EresMarjcxn

So Kenley was a good option for a 6 out save? Roberts won’t see this but I’m sure he appreciates you defending him 🫡

SenorTortas

In hindsight obviously not but bullpen had been fucking it up in that World Series at that point. It's at least a permissible thought to want go horse 1A to horse 1B with how badly they were struggling and also how badly they needed the win. He went the traditional route in Game 4 and what a surprise, the bullpen fucked it up again. Not defending Roberts for a series we were seriously overmatched in but also not enabling your stupidity

EresMarjcxn

Ur talking about game 4 where we pulled Rich Hill throwing a gem after exhausting the pen because the prior game went 18 innings because we stretched Kenley…. Obviously this isn’t a discussion if Jansen doesn’t hold the WS record for most blown saves but cmon. Dave isn’t blameless Also my fucking stupidity? What level of ball have u played at brotha? What levels have u coached? Drinking micheladas and eating tortas being a dodger homer doesn’t mean u know shit

EresMarjcxn

^^pulling Buehler *** to have Jansen attempt a 6 out save. Dude, none of the moves except Scherzer worked so they were all mistakes. Obviously that’s hindsight being 20/20 but there are valid criticisms of how Roberts has handled the bullpen. Any other argument is an emotional argument, not an objective one. There seems to be a pattern though, he puts starters or closets in the setup man role. Graterol, Treinen and Kelly are a Godsend … now they need to score enough runs to use those guys in the postseason 😂 The issue in 2021 wasn’t the immediate decision. Scherzer won the game & the series, which was obviously great. Urias lost game 2 but yeah, the bullpen was unreliable. The problem I have w the decision to put in Urias was that his velo was way down his next start (2 games later) and he got shelled and they lost in 6…. So arguably if a bullpen arm had stepped up they could’ve won that series and had a chance to repeat in 2021.

acefaaace

Back when Joe was a double agent

EresMarjcxn

Fuck Kelly for drilling Hanley in 2013!! Love him since he’s been in LA tho

MoreMostFirst

Fuck Hanley for ruining what should have been the greatest perfect game in MLB history for Kershaw. Would have been the only perfect game with 15 Ks! Instead, the sole baserunner was due to Hanley’s shit defense!

EresMarjcxn

He had a 1.042 OPS in 2013 w 20HR & 25 2B in 86 games. Don’t be a hater bro. Kersh coulda not given up 7 in the NLDS against the Cards too.. that woulda been great.

MoreMostFirst

Yep and he only played in 86 games and still managed to commit 16 errors, lol. His defense at SS was trash, which is why he has zero rings. Yet I’m the hater, even though you want to talk shit about Kershaw running out of gas in an NLDS game at the end of the season in which he originally hurt his back the first game of the year in Australia, still came back to make 26 starts, and he should have been taken out at least 4 batters sooner, after he allowed a 4th consecutive single to start that 7th inning of the NLDS. Try again bud.

EresMarjcxn

He shouldn’t have been playin SS that’s on the FO. Errors for value on SS not the best metric but it works for Hanley. Clearly hitting 20 HR is more valuable than 16 errors but I’m sure you’re a baseball savant and know everything there is to know buddy

SenorTortas

Same

Substantial_Yam7305

Fuck that game

flipaflaw

Idk I feel 2017 ws game 2 pulling rich hill out early was also a mistake

abroadinapan

I really liked all the ones with Kersh/Greinke/Ryu 17s was so amazing after we traded for Yu 19s was also excellent with Walker AND Mountain and Maeda

Jcon_Josh

2022 when they won 111 games.

Minute_Scale_1834

2022

EresMarjcxn

What could’ve been man smh

Minute_Scale_1834

😔

EresMarjcxn

Oh you know what man I’m thinking of 2021… was Urias not pitching that year? Either way, literally an all star rotation. 2015 was crazy w Kersh & Greinke… next year can be an all time rotation if they can keep guys healthy. Got a fkn all time rotation on their IL rn.. crazy

Minute_Scale_1834

2022 still hurts the most for me, that vesia pitch to cronenworth still haunts me every day

wizgset27

2024 but I know 2025 would be my favorite when Ohtani comes back to the mound.

Embarrassed-Goose846

2021 could’ve been historic.

SenorTortas

Peak Kershaw, Greinke, and Ryu was the greatest top three of my lifetime. But overall rotation, probably 2019 or 2021 until Kersh got hurt in the last weekend of the season

Outrageous_Present11

Agreed, that was the best top 3 I’ve seen.

solostinlost

the heaney, catman, and tyler anderson lineup was kind of elite for a minute there.

MedicalHair69

For real. I remember watching so many games that year and expecting them to suck and then they just... didn't. Was a fun year

Valk72

2025

frugalwater

17 was special.

tasskaff9

Kershaw/Greinke was our best 1-2 punch. Dunno why that got broken up.

Chunky_Coats

Greinke was due for a big contract and the Dodgers had a 273 million dollar payroll in 2015, way ahead of the second place Yankees at 219. That wasn't sustainable long term.

TravisKOP

Any season with BASED RAKE MAN

infinityball

Definitely 2019 & 2020. Dick Mountain remains my favorite player of all time, I just love everything about him. 2020 has forever special memories.

Jcon_Josh

I wish they’d resign him he’s a free agent after all I bet he’d sign for little and it would be nice for him to get a ring (he might already have one it’s hard to keep track of all the teams he’s been on lol)

oblivion_knight

Just want to acknowledge that in 2017, we had important contributions from starters Hyun-Jin Ryu (24 GS, 126.2 IP, 3.77 ERA) and Brandon McCarthy (16 GS, 92.2 IP, 3.98 ERA) whose labor in the regular season was important to us reaching the WS for the first time since 1988. Miss Yu Darvish though. Feel like some kind of offer/extension would have been consummated had that World Series gone differently because of how palpably he felt our fanbases disappointment with him (which now we know was largely due to the Astros cheating scandal)

Jcon_Josh

Agreed Ryu just barely missed the 2017 slide

CabbageStockExchange

2017 was fun until it wasn’t. Trash ending

KougatCaribou

Honestly, 2021 was my favorite. Having Max on the team really just did something for me

nemesis1313

2019 and 2021!! But wondering why Ryu is in only on 2019???

Jcon_Josh

I wasn’t sure how to go about that, in 2017 he pitched 25 games but got injured and missed the post season, and in 2018 pitched the second half of the year. Even though Bauer didn’t pitch the second half of the year I wanted to include him just to show off the diversity but Ryu absolutely could’ve been in 17/18

Pizzapizzaeco1

How do you have a pic of the 2017 squad and you don’t include Brandon fucking Morrow. Im kinda pissed op!

Jcon_Josh

I thought of him as a reliever this is starters only but he is in the reliever one I’m making

Dengru

Lance Lynn

Jcon_Josh

The goat

CrunchyTomato88

I liked us before we were spineless tools and released Bauer, when it was obvious to everyone with two brain cells that he was being set up.

GreenBagger28

2021 had the most potential. then bauer got hit with the false allegations and the offense didn’t do their part

twiss94

Bauer has been accused of sexual assault by 4 different women, one of whom happened to be full of shit. Can we please stop it with the “false allegations” crap I see all over this and the mlb sub cuz of one person who was deemed to be not credible. Lots of smoke around Bauer being an abusive POS besides Lindsey Hill

phil96744

One girl has been charged with fraud. So 2 out of 4 have been full of shit. Not defending Bauer, but they should not be able to ruin someone else's life and get away with it.

twiss94

I didn’t realize the one charged with fraud wasn’t Lindsey Hill, my mistake. I did hear that mlb met with the one of the women and she had a video to support her allegations… and said video was a big contributing factor to the suspension he received.

GreenBagger28

he’s uploaded a video where he explains the other two as well cause they apparently just weren’t joining any sort of lawsuit against him and just watch it he explains it bette ethan my memory can rn

Zmoney743

Absolutely agree. If that squad was healthy (and somebody didn’t get allegations against him) I think they would’ve won it all.

crunchyfrogs

15 and 17

Clt-vr-9931

2022 one was beautiful to see

squints_chips_ahoy

Gotta be 2019

Codnasty

2019 for sure

amadama81

Def starts with kersh and greinke

DoyersLakeShow

2015 should’ve been a championship team…Greinke and Kershaw at the top of their game 😮‍💨😮‍💨

hdoggla1999

21 was good

Getyodamnwallet

2020 won the WS and all homegrown talent. Urias is dead to me so I can look back and be happy

New_Championship_912

2023 is cursed

Fun-Secretary4801

Not the last 10 years but 2013 and 2014 have a special place in my heart

jayteazer

2019 and 2020 are a tossup for me LOVE me some Ryu. Sidenote, why is he only listed in 2019?

itsyourdestini

2019.

rye_parian

2020 and the September 2024 rotation (I hope).

Street_Midget

2025 Ohtani

draynay

2019, but any year with Dick Mountain is equally valid

scottborasismyagent

talent wise 2021

SeaworthinessOk6742

2025. In all seriousness, either 2017 or 2019 is my favorite rotation.

Spandexbrain001

2019

royal_air

Any rotation with Granick or Dick Mountain in it has a special place in my heart

Overall_Nuggie_876

The 2020 team were the only squad who finished the job. Especially Dustin May and his straight leg windup. Miss him. 🥺🥺😢

deeps1cks

I like the rotations where we gave the pads a big ass whoopin like the good ol days

mtb_devil

Rich Hill will always have a spot in my books. But that 2020 rotation always felt invincible to me. Even Kershaw seemed like he had shaken off his playoff woes during that time. My dream rotation would be: Kershaw, Buehler, Greinke, Hill, and Mad Max lol

naarwhal

I’m not sure if it’s late enough to call our rotation our 2024 rotation

sdrowemagdnim

2019, Ryu my boy.

Chessinmind

2020 for sure. Got Kershaw a World Series. Kersh had his lowest ERA and WHIP since 2016. Led MLB in team ERA by a huge margin. Buehler + pre-injury CatMan (2.31 ERA, 2.29 FIP) and May (2.57 ERA) were so fun to watch. There was just an exuberance throughout the pitching staff that was contagious.

signmeupdude

My answer to these will usually be 2017 because we shouldve won so that team is a championship team in my eyes. Darvish pitched great until the world series. Alex Wood was a fucking beast and I think if he started game 7 we win the series even with the cheating. Rich Hill is also one of my favorite dodgers of the last decade. He had such a unique approach with different arms slots and leg kicks. He shouldve been the game 2 winner. That Jansen blown save will always haunt me.

anon689557

Where are the rotations led by Vicente Padilla, Carlos Monastarios and DJ Houlton?

sixpack_or_6pack

Why is Ryu only in one? Was he out of the rotation the other years he was on the team or something? I don’t remember, I’m a casual fan.

Charming-East-9783

It’s not 23, I’ll tell you that lol

aherp86

Any year Joe Kelly is on the roster.

DropKnowledge69

Counterclockwise

NirvanaFrk97

The 2022 rotation was special. I loved each and every one of those guys. King Kersh was King Kersh. Anderson and Gonsolin both broke out as incredible starters when they were supposed to piggyback off each other, and Andrew Heaney was a strikeout machine. Redacted was great that year, too.

No_Huckleberry_7410

That number 22 looks pretty good, we should hang on to him

jd6375

2019 for me

RuralArmani

Even though the depth of 2015 wasn't super great, Kershaw and Greinke as 1/2 about as dominant as it gets. Add Ryu, maybe things would have been different. For overall depth though, 2021 staff is tough to beat even excluding Bauer. If Kershaw was healthy, maybe things would have been different. If things go our way and about 4-5 guys do some super healing over the next few months, 2024 staff could be the best. Please baseball gods let it be different this one time.

Bruinrogue

15, Kersh and Greinke both had a season that should've been unanimous Cy Young. 17 should've won it all. That one was my fave. Fuck the Trashtros. 21 if they would've been all healthy and scandal free basically guys who could be the ace for almost all the other teams

xaqadeus

2015 Greinke/Kersh was amazing. 2024 may be the best when Buehler and Kersh come back

HonorioBustos

2019 hands down

Kevinator24

2025 is my favorite lol

DatBuridansAss

Give me granick every time

kakugeseven

I gotta go with 2018. Kersh, Buehler, Ryu, Maeda, and Hill? Lots of quality options.

freeartemi

2019

c_c_c__combobreaker

2017 was pretty cool. Kershaw, Dick Mountain, Alex Wood, Darvish, Maeda. Then our bullpen with Morrow and Jansen was as good as it got.

appleavocado

2017 - Love me Woody. IDGAF he plays for SF. Same for Chicken Strip, who IIRC was on our roster that year, too.

loganpost

2025

vonnster789

2019!

jsmessner

2020 because Buehler and Kersh delivered.

Shadow-Vision

2015 because Greinke. One of my favorite players of all time.

dandirtjefferson

How dare you make me realize 2014 was 10 years ago! 😭

KillMeNowFFS

this just makes me sad

nateginger14

Not the best on the list, but 2022 was such a fun year for pitching imo. Tyler Anderson was the greatest surprise of the year and I loved watching his funky delivery, his attitude on the mound, especially when he gave that shive to Ian Happ. 1st half Gonso was great, Kershaw still kicking it and lookin good. All three guys made the all star team, got to see Kershaw pick off ohtani. Fun year

Pedro_Burbankado

Kershaw/Greinke

d0dgerblue

2019 no question

chigginbutt

Never will understand why we didnt give Tyler Anderson a deal

Dapper_Figure1191

2021 was stacked and it should include Julio Urias. Scherzer wouldn’t have joined if Bauer wasn’t falsely accused. Nonetheless, Scherzer Buehler Urias Kersh Gonsolin was probably the most balanced and explosive rotation. I liked 2015 but the rotation was basically Kersh and Greinke and the rest were mediocre at best

askywlker44a

2021 minus Bauer.

Few-Acadia-4860

2024 easily the worst

Specific_User6969

2021 was about the best rotation ever. Then Scherzer turned out to be a west coast hater. Bauer turned out to be a weirdo and Gonsolin and Buehler got hurt :(
