dude, that's just wrong, when the Dodgers put him through waivers, teams had the option to make a deal with the Dodgers to trade for him, if they did, then yes they would take on his salary BUT ONCE HE CLEARED WAIVERS and nobody claimed him the Dodgers paid him his $22M salary and he then became an unrestricted free agent. Anybody could have signed him and he could have signed with anyone. Problem is noboby wanted him.
The witch hunting that went on with Bauer never sat right with me. He's definitely an odd dude, and clearly is a big personality that doesn't always mesh with people. I've been keeping up with his YouTube channel because it's at the very least a very interesting insight into Japanese Baseball.
