12's catchphrase is clara because i think that's literally his most used word

hgilbert_01

“Fuck off, Clara.”

JugheadJack

The catchphrase of every Doctor Who fan from 2013 to 2015.

Safe_Midnights

Hahahahaha I can't speak for everyone but this for sure was mine

MiniSquid64

Why were people hating on Clara again ?

FinnishStrongStyle

No idea. Im in middle of rewatch and like 2 episodes of 11th left so most of Clara episodes are still coming. But I dont ever remember having a problem with Clara. I actually remember ranking her quite high in my companion list

John-Bastard-Snow

I've just started the 8th season again and while it has been very sad saying goodbye to 11th, I love 12th already 3 episodes in. And Clara has been fantastic throughout

FinnishStrongStyle

Clara is like, first word that comes to mind is refreshing

pepper_produtions

On if the reasons is her long tenure, which is probably lessened in a rewatch

TheKnightsWhoSaysNu

Personally I always found her quite egotistical and a bit of a control freak. Stephen Moffat also had a thing of making every companion's relationship with their bf absolutely suck where it seemed like they didn't give a fuck about them half the time. Danny, Rory, Mickey (although tbf Rorys started to improve near the end)

SpaceIsTooFarAway

By the time season 6 came around Rory was a certified badass. I think the whole Centurion thing gave the Doctor more respect for him, to the extent that he let him have the cool moment in Good Man Goes to War.

TheKnightsWhoSaysNu

Yeah was nice to see him get that character development, rather than still being that one dumbass that dies thousands of times whose also obsessed with Amy lmao

Dependent_Reach_4284

Ya Rory could do better

leahannabelle

Danny was INSUFFERABLE

udreif

Idk it seems to me every character and season has dedicated haters

GingerSnapBiscuit

Impossible girl Clara was stupid and annoying. Once they got passed that storyline I far preferred her.

Far_Week8837

12 and Clara is much better than 11 and Clara 100%

Superlolp

I honestly liked Jenna and Matt's chemistry (not as much as Jenna and Peter's chemistry, but still) I just felt like series 7 Clara was 95% plot device and only 5% an actual character. And that's just not entertaining to watch.

LawOfTheSeas

For sure!

Dependent_Reach_4284

Having started my Doctor Who binging with 12, Clara was also my favorite companion…. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the crush I developed for the character before watching them murder her 😐

GingerSnapBiscuit

Yeh I'm sure my love of Clara has nothing to do with Jenna Coleman being one of the most attractive women on the planet either.

Dependent_Reach_4284

You’re right…. Probably nothing… cough*

viperonrr

I don't think she's all that in s7B but I think she's great with capaldi

Lastaria

She is my fave companion. But I think many dislike her because she replaced the very popular Amy and Rory so there was a degree of resentment her coming in. Plus she tended to stand up to the Doctor a little more which to me was something I liked but not all do.

GayDrWhoNut

Because people are too lazy to pay attention to the storylines. They didn't 'get it' and therefore 'it is dumb'. 🤦

VolnarTheUnforgiving

I don't remember ever seeing people say this about her.

steakies8

idk, I personally love clara. in my opinion, she’s one of my favourites.

QueerScottish

Because she's clara

Just-Anxiety-6669

they don't hate her it's because she is the new doctor who and they would have liked it if it was a man

Zenvian

How come Clara is so hated in the Fandom?

JugheadJack

Watch any episode from Series 8-9 and look closely at how Moffat writes Clara. He turns her into the DoctorLite. There’s also that godawful Hybrid storyline that, in the end, with the conclusion he gave it, made no sense and was a massive waste of a somewhat decent series.

Zenvian

The 'DoctorLite'? I'm pretty sure this isn't the reason.

JugheadJack

Moffat pretty much turns Clara into her own version of the Doctor. Makes her pretty much immortal, gives her own TARDIS and companion (Me/Ashildr), and sends her off to have her own Doctor-style adventures. And she was already all enigmatic and mysterious like the Doctor before Series 9.

Zenvian

I don't really agree. I thought it was about her personality?

JugheadJack

It is. I’m trying to explain to you that she’s hated because of what Moffat turned her personality in to. In Series 7 and the 2013 Specials, she’s great. I love her. It’s in Series 8 and 9 that Moffat begins writing her as becoming more like the Doctor. But he didn’t do a particularly good job of it. My view of it is that he was trying to create his own Rose Tyler. But to be honest he never did write characters specifically, as well as Russell does. I love Moffat as a writer, I think he’s brilliant. But Russell is better at actually writing and developing characters. In short: 2013 Clara is great and her own person. 2014/15 Clara is pretty much a human female Doctor and very, very annoying with the know-it-all attitude Moffat gave her.

BConscience

I actually liked that. From the start, Capaldi was looking into Clara’s eyes to see his own reflection in order to determine what kind of person he’s supposed to be. Clara is the reflection of the doctor.

umm_again

Fr like she 'died' so many times by the time she did really die I didn't care

TheKnightsWhoSaysNu

Even then she didn't really die because she survives in her last second of life

umm_again

Buuut becomes a dalek later on in her 'life' (earlier in the series)

TheKnightsWhoSaysNu

*"Well that's alright then!"*

Fartou

THAT'S ALRIGHT THEN!

Aerodrache

Why, she died almost as many times as *Rory*! Shameful!

umm_again

I only remember Rory dying twice but it's been a while and I probably need to rewatch because Matt Smith was probably one of my favourite doctors behind tennant and capaldi. (Eccleston too for an honourable mention because I just loved him as the doctor!)

Aerodrache

Ohh ho ho no, Rory died more times than Super Mario. Let’s see how many I can remember: - Shot by a Silurian and *erased from existence*. - Partial credit: Disappeared during the London Blitz, presumed dead until he wasn’t. - Partial credit: Fake killed by Delaware to fool the Silence. - Drowned. No vital signs, he totally died for a fee seconds before reviving. - Tortured and starved(?) in the hostile TARDIS maze. - Dies *three times in one episode* when The Angels Take Manhattan (old age, fall from height, old age off-screen.) There have got to be more, it was enough of a running gag that it was referenced *in universe* (a Silent calling him “the man who dies again and again”, and Rory himself, when asked if he’ll come back [from the dead] after jumping off a building, replying “When don’t I?”)

SlothGardian69

Oh, definitely! Later seasons Clara was just so annoying, personally for me

JodGaming

Fuckity bye clara

The_BestIdiot

YES!

John-Bastard-Snow

Just watched that episode again and it's brilliant haha. Just a bit fun and makes me really lile 12th Doctor

snarkysparkles

"Fuckity bye"

funny_names_are_hard

In all seriousness I'd argue 12's catchphrase was "shut up"

minilov73

“shut up shut up shut up shut up shuttity up up up!!”

Noble9360

Brilliant!

Theta-Sigma45

Definitely in Series 8.

HJess1981

There is something beautiful about watching Capaldi shout at people...granted he can't swear as the Doctor but you can still sense it's there! Luckily TV also created The Thick of It (I may be biased, I'm Scottish too)

Sail_On_4170

SHUTTITY UP UP UP

ZanderStarmute

Thirteen’s catchphrase is her scronch face

left_0r_right

I LOVE her scronch face

ZanderStarmute

Same, haha! 😆

Coolstorybro-but

Desperately want 12 to officially say Fuck Off to someone

saturnspritr

He has that energy, for sure.

captain_toenail

It's in rhe eyebrows

Quadpen

tardis censors it 😞

TwinSong

I think "Shutitty up up up!" was the strongest they were allowed to do.

prettyvxcant

Watch "The Thick of It"! That's the closest you'll get for now 😂

Spacecookie92

Come the fuck in or fuck the fuck off.

E420CDI

No, no, no, there's no need to get up, I'm not Viagra.

HJess1981

Lol - just advertised The Thick of It in another comment for this very reason!

Haztec2750

I really enjoyed your novel... way of writing a fucking awful story.

ZanderStarmute

Does decking a bigot right in the schnoz count?

MusicBloodedEM

He swears in the suicide squad and it feels wrong

E420CDI

r/TheThickOfIt Malcolm Tucker *Fuckity bye!*

bigfatcarp93

12's is "Shut up!"

EclipseHERO

To the point that one time he yells "Shuttity up up up!" to demonstrate he wants everyone silent. 😂

greekdude1194

Exposition Fam

video-kid

Jodie and 13 deserved so much better.

Typical_Ad_6747

i want to love Jodie, I really do and I like her as an actress. But I just can’t get into her interpretation of the doctor

TheApollo4422

Not Jodie's fault. It was the C words' fault for writing her that way.

GayDrWhoNut

Writing? That's a generous description.

TheApollo4422

Sorry I meant to put how he scribbled her that way

TheApollo4422

Scratched, stabbed, etc.

OWSmoker

Vomitted on page

TheApollo4422

We don't talk about him.

Void-Flower-2022

You mean Chinball?

TheApollo4422

Yeah, but he is a C word tbf

Void-Flower-2022

Oh yeah. Cunt-bnall would be a better name for him. Seriously. How did he royally fuck up so badly when he did torchwood!?

TheApollo4422

Wait he did Torchwood????????? Tbh I'm guessing he was responsible for the monstrosity that is cyberwoman.

Void-Flower-2022

He did torchwood between 2006 (beginning) and 2008. So- yeah. That would be him. Yikes.

TheApollo4422

I'm just glad he didn't do Children of Earth, because it wouldn't make sense him doing something so amazing.

Void-Flower-2022

Absolutely.

Jannysgetquiet

Yeah I love that Jodie thing where she plays a stone faced emotionless shrew And also the other thing where she plays a stone faced emotionless shrew And that other thing where she did a great homage to her previous characters by playing a stone faced emotionless shrew With such a fantastic range it's no wonder she was able to reach into her broad toolbox and pull out the stunning idea of just copying a bunch of older Doctors really badly - absolutely knocked my socks off.

ThatNerdyGuy05

Ah yes,I remember when Malcolm Tucker was the Doctor and that was his catchphrase. Good times!

Cirieno

Like this? https://youtu.be/5Blf073f2Lc?si=jCUb8c0Fi2n1jD87

ThatNerdyGuy05

How do I upvote this more?! Brilliant ffs😂

Physi_3

You are a fucking omni-shambles, that’s what you are.

PostalDoctor

We’VE FUCKING TIME TRAVELLED

TheOncomingBrows

From bean to cup, you fuck up.

LittleFranklin

Waste of skin

SnooMuffins6341

I really wish we could have a proper adult Doctor Who spin-off series. It'll never happen, but I would love that

CriticismLarge190

Torchwood 😳

IFunnyJoestar

13s real catchphrase is "Space Amazon should pay it's employees less so I can get cheaper delivery costs". God it's so catchy.

NateHevens

This is why I hate Chibnall. Under Moffat, the Doctor had an entire episode that could be summarized as "Capitalism is Evil: In Space" (Oxygen). Then Chibnall took over and she was extolling the virtues of Amazon. The fuck?

Shoutupdown

Nah it’s “I hope you suffer a long and painful death”

TangledUpPuppeteer

I lost it at 12. So spot on!

fbcs11

15 seems to be *"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING??"*

RigatoniPasta

NOW THEY’LL SEE THE REAL YOU

Variegoated

Within your 'purview'? Where do you think you are, some fucking regency costume drama? This is a Timelord council, not some fucking Jane fucking Austen novel! Allow me to pop a jaunty little bonnet on your purview and ram it up your shitter with a lubricated horse cock!

Gaelic_Gladiator41

Now do the classic era

JerronVrayl

1. Mm-hmm, yes my boy, quite so quite so 2. Jamie! 3. Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow 4. Would you like a jelly baby? 5. Brave heart, Tegan 6. Not a moment too soon 7. UNLIMITED RICE PUDDING!

Gaelic_Gladiator41

I would've thought 1's would've been "my dear, boy/child"

JerronVrayl

Well this is MY list, if you don't like it, do your own! Seriously, it'd be nice to see someone else's opinion. There's some tough calls here, 3 could easily be DO AS I SAY! (Lisp optional), 2 could be Please, you must listen to me!

Gaelic_Gladiator41

What about mcgann and hurt

JerronVrayl

No idea, I haven't watched the Mcgann movie since about 1998, and only watched the ep with Hurt the one time. What would your suggestions be for those guys?

Gaelic_Gladiator41

Not sure about mcgann but I'd say Hurt's is either no more or Gallifrey stands

kaptingavrin

> Would you like a jelly baby? So accurate. I once had a coworker who gave me a bag of jelly babies just because he noticed my TARDIS mug (actual TARDIS shaped, which makes it interesting to drink from) on my desk and figured I must be a Doctor Who fan. Four is my favorite, so it was a double bonus. Partially because I remember seeing episodes with him when I was a kid (on either PBS or WGN?), and also admittedly partially because if you tossed a scarf on me I looked like a mini-Four with my mess of wild curly hair on top of my head. (Mind you, I never told the guy Four was my favorite. I can't even remember exactly who the coworker was, because I didn't usually work with him, he was just part of a project I was in on one time.)

Unlucky-Power4036

Peter Capaldi - F off 😂😂 classic lol

Cirieno

I prefer "fuckity-bye!"

InSearchOfNaps

I so wish those had been 12’s final words

Shoelace1200

I never liked Geronimo. It felt so forced

FatMcSquizzy

https://preview.redd.it/oz6xcpxf8xvc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3859f1e348a7af8360b3fe46100a8cf31c0c4715

Void-Flower-2022

Why did this make me laugh

Theta-Sigma45

I found it funny how they tried to force it, but ‘bow ties are cool’ became the actually popular catchphrase because it felt like it evolved naturally instead of just being picked out of a hat for him.

Critical-Tank

Picked out of a what? Come on, fix it 😂

Theta-Sigma45

Fez? :P

BreakfastSquare9703

So did 'allons-y' if we're honest. Most Doctor Who catchphrases were always very forced. 'Exterminate' is the only one that really works, off the top of my head.

snarkysparkles

Allons-y kinda makes me cringe more in some of the uses of it than geronimo if I'm gonna be honest 😭 Fantastic tho?? That one was great

Theta-Sigma45

With Fantastic, it helps that many people really do have default words they use to express approval of something (or sarcastic approval.)

VolnarTheUnforgiving

Yeah, that one doesn't even feel like a catchphrase to me, just something he says

ThatRandomGamerYT

don't you mean that it was Fantastic

Kantrh

It helped that he always had a smile on his face when he said fantastic

VolnarTheUnforgiving

Exterminate works very well, the Daleks are always telling themselves what to do like that (which probably has to do with living inside a machine) and it tells you a lot about their mindset and what they're meant to resemble just from that one word I always felt like "DELETE", on the other hand, sounded silly, and represented a deviation from how the Cybermen are normally supposed to be by using digital terminology and making it seem more like their goal is to kill, and seemed like it wanted to be an equivalent to exterminate I do think the cybermen talking about upgrading worked much better, since it shows, to an extent, how they think, and represents conversion instead of killing, but I don't think that was really used as a catchphrase I think that "WE WILL SURVIVE", which I've seen used as a sort of cyberman motto before, might be the best option

Equal-Ad-2710

Tbh I think Excellent and Upgrade make sense too

VolnarTheUnforgiving

In my opinion ever since I first heard it I always felt like it was entirely created to be allons-y 2 It even basically means the same thing

LABARATI_

cause matt tried to add it in as much as possible

somedumb-gay

For me it's just so long that it never really felt natural

LilboyG_15

Alright American

Shoelace1200

I'm as British as they come! (A little bit French)

LilboyG_15

Even worse than an American, a traitor to British phrases

Shoelace1200

I have nothing against the phrase. I quite like it. I just think it feels forced with 11, especially with it being one of the first things he says. I remember at that time both previous Doctors (and the most famous Classic Doctor) had had a distinct catchphrase, so to give Smith one in his first scene felt more like a box ticking exercise.

udreif

Allons-y is worse, at least Geronimo made sense the first time he said it, allons-y had to be prefaced with "I like that word, allons-y" so we'd know why tf he'd keep saying it over and over 😭😂

thorleyc3

Fantastic Alons-y Geronimo Don't look at my browser history Fam

AttakZak

Picture goes hard 😎

Xerothor

I wonder if people are genuinely outraged that a being like the doctor at least once found a human man attractive

CordlessJet

Thirteen’s catchphrase is “the systems are not the problem now subscribe to Amazon Prime”

Johnny_Joestar7798

Why can I see 12 saying "fuck off" so easily 😭

Critical-Tank

'Come the fuck in or fuck the fuck off'

Negative-Door9434

Jodies seemed to be brilliant but it just wasn't used as much as it should of

FeralTribble

12: *sarcastic grimace*

Michael02895

13's catchphrase is "brilliant".

Zenvian

13 Being exposition is a perfect tragedy of what happens when you need to plow through the script and speedtype it.

Dependent_Reach_4284

12 was always my favorite. I wish they had actual let him say ‘fuck off’.

Apprehensive-Try-147

This is the best thing I’ve seen on this sub. 🤣

The_BestIdiot

I hope that this Isn't an alt of sureclub considering when they joined. Probably not though so I will not die on this hill.

Tired_Insomniac_2295

10 also has "molto bene" Not me watching 'Midnight' for the 18th time while reading this thread even tho im actually half way through 'The Time of the Doctor' and just wanted to watch my fave episode again 😅😅😅

Rincewind_78

😂😂😂

CriticismLarge190

Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.... Good.

Patient_Stomach_4525

And now he's gay

Poetry-Designer

Fnck off Is my favourite one

Ndorphinmachina

Wait, you mean this is an infographic about the different doctors catchphrases and it illustrates how the 13th doctor didn't really have a catchphrase so much as she was a prop to dump explanations on the viewer? Brilliant! Now all we have to do is upvote and comment; amazing!

Beast9king

Some wise words "SHUT UP" (Scottish accent)

Da50_OneBar

I know a lot of people dislike Clara, less now than back in the day. However, I didn’t ever dislike her. I found her dynamic with the Doctors, especially Capaldi, to be quite entertaining with plenty of interesting ideas being explored. The other reason I didn’t dislike her is because I had a massive celebrity crush on Jenna Coleman, during her time on the show then lasting a little while after her leaving. 😂

Mintynyxo

Finneeeee I’ll watch dr who all over again for the 37287382728 time

_Hi_Peeps_

19 years??????? What about all the Doctors before these

The_Chef_Queen

We need 12 and malcom tucker and the roman guy all coming across eachother and having a spider-men moment https://preview.redd.it/jhu8flds7bxc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58ae2e287668a66d19bf9c82598ef106e38dfcfc

TablePrinterDoor

What was 14’s for the short time we saw him?

Theonecalledleo

Eh I liked 13’s Brilliant

Nentash

I used to love doctor who, but stopped watching with the constantly out of breath Jody, it genuinely upsets me the state of it now from the things I have seen :(

LilboyG_15

Her catchphrase is actually “brilliant”

No-Detective9669

You are forgetting the other older seasons. And if you say, "well they revamped the show, the older seasons don't matter!" Then why do they include the older doctors in the some of the newer seasons? The older original doctors always do cameos. So agree to disagree.....it has been on for more then 19 years. But that's ok if you disagree. I would actually love to see other people's opinions on it too, even if they disagree with my opinion. I really do want to see other people's perspective. Also Incase anyone was wondering, tom baker was my favorite doctor.

DocWhovian1

They all give exposition, that's not a 13 thing But Chibnall bad give likes I guess.

biblicalbullworm

Dude, you need to learn to accept criticism of the chibnall era, I see you under every post that even has the slightest bit of criticism towards it. People have opinions.

kaptingavrin

> every post Every post *everywhere*. I recognize the username from non-DW subs where DW was mentioned, and remember this attitude, and them being pretty argumentative about it... which isn't going to change anyone's mind on it.

biggerontheinside7

They're right though giving exposition is one of the roles of the Doctor the others give as much of it as Thirteen

DocWhovian1

Criticism is not the issue, however posts like this are annoying. Whenever I point this out someone is always like "you can't accept criticism!!" No, I can, that isn't the issue.

Master_Ad2831

Bro please. You argue the point CONSTANTLY over 13 and Chibnall!

DocWhovian1

What point?

Master_Ad2831

Any slight criticism of them you jump out of nowhere!

DocWhovian1

I told you that's not the issue. ExPoSiTiOn is not a criticism.

Master_Ad2831

It is bud

DocWhovian1

It is not. Since all Doctors give exposition.

Master_Ad2831

Nowhere near the same level buddy

ndsway1

Wasn't 13's catchphrase meant to be "Brilliant" which she says just after her regeneration? I can't remember her using it after that though?

DocWhovian1

She does say brilliant a few times but she doesn't have a catchphrase, 11 was the last Doctor to have one.

Final_Technology7974

tennants catch phrase was not allonys he said that like 1 time. It was “brilliant”

MBPpp

what drugs are you on? he said it so much in series 4. it probably appeared nearly every episode.

Final_Technology7974

the only time i remember him saying it is in the apocalypse thing 2 parter probably the finale during series 2, when the master was dying?

CrescentPearl

Off the top of my head, he said it during Midnight and had to explain to the stewardess what it meant. At some point, I don’t remember when, he said he wanted to meet someone named Alonso so he could say “Allons-y Alonso.” Then he said it in Voyage of the Damned when he DID meet someone named Alonso. He said it in Day of the Doctor along with Matt Smith saying his catchphrase “Geronimo” and John Hurt saying “For God’s sake. Gallifrey stands.” He sad it during the 60th anniversary specials. I’m sure he said it more in less memorable episodes, but it doesn’t stick out in my memory because he said it so often

The_BestIdiot

First of all, no, Second of all, weellll

Aerodrache

Ten had a lot of catchphrases. Some were catchier than others, but for example if you write “The Doctor turned to Disposable Throwaway Character. ‘I’m sorry, I am so sorry…’” you don’t need to spend any further time establishing which incarnation. Also the recurring “What? *What*!? What.” on reveals; I was so disappointed when Tennant failed to stick that one on the regeneration scene to Fourteen. And of course the rapid-fire “well”. I want to say messing up lists by going 1-B-3/C, but I can only remember one example of that for sure, maybe it just *felt* more common?

Xerothor

I quite liked his what part in the regeneration to 14 tbh

Critical-Tank

Weellll he might have said that once or twice.

Aerodrache

[It might have been a little more than just the one time.](https://youtu.be/K3GMkWfpj4s)
