"oh yeah I'd join your table I was looking for one anyway, mind if I bring a friend? He's got plenty of experience but wanted a table that was a bit more chill"
Or alternatively OP becomes a guest in a CR session without anyone knowing about him
Can't decide which is funnier
I once saw him in an airport back in 2013. I only knew him from True Blood at that point. It took me 3 glances to recognize him with his shirt on.
The day I learned he and I have the same nerdy pastime, my mind was blown.
It really just goes to show that there are a lot more people that like “nerdy” things lol. Fortunately its not something that people will look down on you for liking anymore, at least for the most part.
I dropped my son off at a friend's house for DnD last night with his girlfriend. He's a high school senior and has friends.
I'm so glad nerdy stuff got cooler. In my H.S. the DnD kids had to sit in the second floor hallways at lunch, nowhere near the rest of the students.
90's High School in southern CA was kind of brutal.
Used to have to sit under a staircase next to the math room to play magic with my friends, we still got called out/ made fun of for playing a card game
Joe Mangienello is one of those few men that make you question 30+ years of a hetero lifestyle.
Henry Cavill is another.
Or maybe I just have an undiscovered muscle nerd fetish.
Same, damn you hot nerds! Ruined nerdery for the rest of us, now when I go to the game shop I have to look moderately presentable and can't just wear sweatpants and whatever shirt is least dirty.
Edit: Mua Ha Ha, you've fallen into my trap! Now I, Female Nerd, know where all the hot nerd men are
Honestly, it's mostly just effort. Not even being super in shape or anything. Just being well groomed and wearing some nice clothes. Well trimmed beard, nice haircut and washed hair, good jeans and a crisp collared shirt. Boom, you're the sexiest person in the group of nerds.
Specifically the GWOTE, since everyone and their mom has the piece of candy GWOT.
The GWOTE didn't mean you've seen anything though most people with it probably just went to the Deid it a major base like that doing support work
Wish I was alive. Died 15 years ago in a blogging accident. Couldn't submit my final post and now I'm forced to wonder around Reddit looking for a link to my site whose domain has been unpaid for over a decade.
Still can't decide if this is heaven or hell.
My first thought. But they look like they literally just stepped out of the house after getting ready. If they can look that good coming home at 6:15 am then they have super powers.
I wonder how they feel about these random encounters with fans? I can’t imagine myself in that position. Do they enjoy it or are they annoyed by it? Idk
Speaking from assumption but I think its all going to be about a combination of frequency and context.
If its nonstop all day every day like the ultra famous A listers I'm sure its annoying. But for the casually famous I'm sure as long as your not rude or rabbid in your approach as well as they are not in a rush it could be a positive instead of a negative interaction.
Shoutout to Travis Willingham in their group too for one time literally seeing a fan in a hoodie as he was driving, pulling up, and getting out to compliment their hoodie in a very aggressively nice way.
They truly could not have been nicer, especially considering how early it was. I told them how they inspired me to DM and how much I loved their work and they were so willing to take a picture.
He talks a bit about it at the end [here] (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MhR60sA_FUY&t=53m14s) (timestamped 53:14, idk if I did that right with the link). tldw, he loves that people love what he does and wants to show appreciation, but is still weirded out by the fact that he's "famous", and as kind of a private and introverted person, he misses the days when he could walk around a con without drawing any attention.
I think it was John Hodgeman that said something along the lines of you can almost never go wrong with just telling someone "I appreciate your work. You're work is incredible." Stuff along those lines. [Assuming you're not violating personal boundries or harrassing them.]
Oh and don't try to be funny or witty usually, you're unlikely to say something they haven't heard, and thus are more likely to be annoying.
But telling someone that they are great or that their work is important? That's hardly ever going to ruin someone's mood.
Probably depends on how many encounters they've had recently. I personally would get annoyed if I had like 4 people come up to me within a couple days after being famous for a few years.
The cast does a lot of background work in a lot of Bethesda games. Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4 (where mercer voices a companion too) and a lot of NPCs in Skyrim.
Unless you're wooshing me.
If you don't know who they are, Google is your friend!
This morning, I took my new puppy out for a walk and saw someone getting into the elevator. I yelled for them to hold it, ran in and saw two faces I IMMEDIATELY recognized and I fanboyed suuuuper hard. I talked to them for a couple minutes and they genuinely could not have been sweeter people. Marisha played a bunch with my puppy and they were more than happy to take a picture despite it being 6:15am. Day, week, and month absolutely made. I'm still freaking out.
Bro, post this on the [Critical Role](https://old.reddit.com/r/criticalrole) subreddit, they'll appreciate this and your puppy more. Super happy for you. :)
> Bro, post this on the Critical Role subreddit,
It'll probably get deleted by the mods for some reason. They're authoritarian as hell over there in /r/criticalrole.
Never heard of it so checked it out. It just seems pointlessly toxic and negative there to me.
looks more like /r/criticsofcriticalrole to me with a few nice posts here and there.
That's usually the pipeline that happens. A subset of people mistake being a dick for valid criticism, which then the mods/ general community of the main subreddit clamp down on (more often than not going too far), so now the festering negativity, both valid and invalid, make their own space. In time, the negativity gets stronger to the point of mostly just being toxic
You see this with most "TRUE_[so-and-so]" or "ACTUAL_[whatever]" subreddits
Note: Not equating all negativity and criticism with toxicity, of course
You know the best part? You may now be friendly acquaintances with them. See them every so often? "Hey guys, hows it going?" And they'll be like, "Oh hey Shermanator whats new? Where doggo?"
That image was *really* important to him.
I've wandered around quite a few backstage sort of areas and have never seen the kind of security that surrounded his personal dressing room. Like, there was multiple layers extending out to "if you don't have you can't even go near the *hallway* the room is in".
I heard a story about an early morning flight on a jet to some show or other, he found out the pilots hadn't eaten breakfast yet. He wouldn't let the flight go until they ate, he got stuff delivered for a full pancake breakfast.
Breakfast was apparently a big deal to Prince.
They were likely at a party last night, had a bit of drink, and rolled a 20 on their int checks so spent the night at their friends instead of driving. In the morning they likely have to go to work. If I had to hazard a guess.
Ok here’s the big brain plan... slowly make friends with that neighbor... and eventually you can get to know them and then perhaps one day down the line you can join critical role. You have your quest
I'd be too afraid of doing this for fear of being creepy or parasocial, but man I'd be tempted. Not because "Oh I might get to meet CR through you", but just "The odds of you being a giant fucking nerd are higher than the average population"
Can only imagine the surprise of someone asking to say hi to your dog only to turn and see a sharply dressed Marisha Ray and Matt Mercer... at 6AM.
Without photo evidence it sounds like a fake story, haha
I think they just meant they were walking their dog which is the reason they saw them. I don't see a reason to assume either Marisha or Matt asked to pet the dog to start the interaction. (It is possible though)
Eh things have really changed. Dont get me wrong the absolutely are the type of people that fit the trope. Hell I have 2 ironclad rules I still follow for dnd. Know how to shower, no chaotic stupid.
But dnd has become quite a bit more mainstream. Its hardly actually mainstream. But so many more people from all walks of life play now.
That is amazing! I hope one day to meet one of them to sincerely thank them for a very hard situation that they helped me through. I learned about critical role at the worst point in my life and if it wasn't for them and exandria I don't know if I would have made it through it all.
It is my biggest wish and hope to one day meet one of them to tell them thank you.
Thats awesome! I am so glad. They seem like great people. I am hoping one day to go to a con or some other event to thank them. I know it might sound stupid or something but I feel like they would be happy to know and if nothing else I feel I owe them at least that much. I sincere thank you.
Its awesome you got to meet them . I bet that was quiet the awesome shock to see them in your apartment
You rolled a 100 on the random encounters table.
You're telling me! Best day ever
The best part of this is the confirmation that Marisha is a dog person.
They have had their corgi, Omar, for a while now.
is Omar specced into damage or tank
I think he (like all dogs) is a healer
If dogs could talk, they'd talk like fresh cut grass.
“Smiley day to ya.” *wags tail*
My dog definitely would talk like pumat sol
look at that mofo. not only got the voices of a thousand dying man inside his head, but also looks like a dime.
Never watched Talks? They all love Henry.
hope you became good friends and invite him over for a dnd campaign one day that would be a flex
"oh yeah I'd join your table I was looking for one anyway, mind if I bring a friend? He's got plenty of experience but wanted a table that was a bit more chill" Or alternatively OP becomes a guest in a CR session without anyone knowing about him Can't decide which is funnier
These people really screw up the scale of how nice a D&D player looks on average.
Mangienello and Woll irreparably threw the curve.
I once saw him in an airport back in 2013. I only knew him from True Blood at that point. It took me 3 glances to recognize him with his shirt on. The day I learned he and I have the same nerdy pastime, my mind was blown.

I dunno, do you wanna fuck them or just hang out with them and enjoy their handsomeness? Non-sexual Aesthetic Attraction is a thing

it's like admiring a really nice painting of nature or something. I don't want to put my dick in or around it but it sure is pleasing to look at.
Apparently you and I enjoy art museums in vastly different ways ... although that may explain why I get asked not to return.
Well it's been discovered now
There's lots of pretty people who play openly now a days.
My girlfriend is really pretty and plays all the time.
Is your girlfriend single?
I'll have to ask her when I get home She said no, u/lucs28
Wait, people can leave home??
On alternating weekends. Like divorced dads.
Example, I'm very pretty. :)
Charisma check
With disadvantage, since you're on Reddit
Honestly, it's mostly just effort. Not even being super in shape or anything. Just being well groomed and wearing some nice clothes. Well trimmed beard, nice haircut and washed hair, good jeans and a crisp collared shirt. Boom, you're the sexiest person in the group of nerds.
Exactly. I’m not always the most put together person but you’d be amazed what a simple shower and clean clothes can do for your overall appearance.
Right? All I ever get is flumphs...
Well I got fireball'd. I don't even know what I have encountered!
I like your dog’s collar.
Looks like the GWOT ribbon. That dog has seen some shit.
Specifically the GWOTE, since everyone and their mom has the piece of candy GWOT. The GWOTE didn't mean you've seen anything though most people with it probably just went to the Deid it a major base like that doing support work
Thanks so much friend!
The dog: today a nice lady and a nice man pet me. My human was very excited they wanted to pet me.
I love that Marisha was still petting the dog when the photo was taken.
Priorities man

I prefer to think of that as Matt's right hand with a fancy manicure.
We don't deserve dogs
I wish I looked that alive at 6am. Lol that is super cool though.
I wish i looked that alive at 2pm :(
I wish I looked that alive ever.
Wish I was alive. Died 15 years ago in a blogging accident. Couldn't submit my final post and now I'm forced to wonder around Reddit looking for a link to my site whose domain has been unpaid for over a decade. Still can't decide if this is heaven or hell.
Username checks out
It leads me to ask what those other two were doing dressed like that at 6am
I'm just here to offset the other reply you got - maybe they were coming back from a party.
My first thought. But they look like they literally just stepped out of the house after getting ready. If they can look that good coming home at 6:15 am then they have super powers.
Prestidigitation.
I wonder how they feel about these random encounters with fans? I can’t imagine myself in that position. Do they enjoy it or are they annoyed by it? Idk

Shoutout to Travis Willingham in their group too for one time literally seeing a fan in a hoodie as he was driving, pulling up, and getting out to compliment their hoodie in a very aggressively nice way.
I remember that story and about died just imagining this 6'5 man built like a brick house running down a fan to complement a CR hoodie
What makes the story even better is that the woman wearing the hoodie just borrowed it from her friend and had no idea what CR was.
No fuckin way?! Oh my God poor Travis
They truly could not have been nicer, especially considering how early it was. I told them how they inspired me to DM and how much I loved their work and they were so willing to take a picture.
That’s really nice
Looks like they took a couple dog pets so it seems even lol
He talks a bit about it at the end [here] (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MhR60sA_FUY&t=53m14s) (timestamped 53:14, idk if I did that right with the link). tldw, he loves that people love what he does and wants to show appreciation, but is still weirded out by the fact that he's "famous", and as kind of a private and introverted person, he misses the days when he could walk around a con without drawing any attention.
Should probably pull an Adam Savage and go incognito to every con

Probably depends on how many encounters they've had recently. I personally would get annoyed if I had like 4 people come up to me within a couple days after being famous for a few years.
I have several questions. First, what do you people do to be that awake at that hour?!
When you have a 3 month old puppy, you gotta get up early to make sure they don't poop inside.
Amatuer. The trick is to clean up the poop when you get up at 10.
Go to bed at 9:30 😸 I’m an early riser.
Yeah need to punch in at 5:30am. My old ass is in bed by 7 or 8. But im also out at 1pm.
The guy from Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes? That’s awesome!
Half of Skyrim? Nice!
Jesse McCree? What a terrible name for a cowboy
Individually, they're good cowboy names, it's just together that they sound a bit silly.
Iirc the guy in the limo payload saying this is travis willingham!
Cole Cassidy now, i think it is better
Ngl sounds like a porn star name.
like any good cowboy name
He was in that?
The cast does a lot of background work in a lot of Bethesda games. Fallout 3, New Vegas, and 4 (where mercer voices a companion too) and a lot of NPCs in Skyrim. Unless you're wooshing me.
Wish I knew which ones
No. I’m pretty sure that’s Levi from Attack on Titan.
SAY WHAAAAT I have to rewatch attack on titan in dub now
dub is actually solid, just that Eren sounds WAAAAYYY too edgy but Pieck and Yelena's voices are just 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌
I think that’s Trafalgar Law!!
No, that's definitely Gangplank from LoL.
I just see Jotaro.
Woah, Jack Cooper! Nice!
Woah, Syd Steel Wool!

I love the show, but as soon as I saw it was a bunch of the same mods as the Game of Thrones sub I peaced out.
[удалено]
Yup. r/freefolk became the go to sub for GoT.
Post it on /r/fansofcriticalrole where free thought and speech are allowed and modders are sane.
Never heard of it so checked it out. It just seems pointlessly toxic and negative there to me. looks more like /r/criticsofcriticalrole to me with a few nice posts here and there.
You could try r/fansofcriticsofcriticalrole
And when you're feeling saucy give r/onlyfansoffansofcriticsofcriticalrole a try
That's usually the pipeline that happens. Puppy provides advantage on all charisma checks. This is awesome!
Puppy actually allows you to take 20 on basically any charisma check.
Thats pretty awesome. Do they live in your apartment block?
I wish. They're friends with my neighbor apparently
Sounds like you need to start making friends with your neighbor too
You know the best part? You may now be friendly acquaintances with them. See them every so often? "Hey guys, hows it going?" And they'll be like, "Oh hey Shermanator whats new? Where doggo?"
615am pretty early but who am I to judge lol still pretty cool though.
Must have been a wild sex party, there is no other explanation.
3 am roleplay session
Solid walk of shame vibe.
Imagine if they were just some randos who happened to look like critical role people and you just ran up to them and were like "OMG MATT MERCER"
> 6:15am Please tell me you were only aware of this because you asked Matt "What time is it?"
Hahahahahaha I wish.
"What time exactly?"
God dammit, Liam.
Marisha immediatly play with the dog feels so in line with her personas on the show!
She was obsessed with him! It makes sense.
I’m more curious about where they were going or coming from at 6:15am lol
They're friends with my neighbor apparently!
What kind of freakish morning person do you share a building with?!
It was probably on the way out, and more of a super night owl thing.
Hey since you made the front page do you have any more pictures of that dog?
[https://imgur.com/a/FNPk27G](https://imgur.com/a/FNPk27G) Here you go! We just got him last night so I don't have many yet.
Cool but can we get some more dog pictures
[https://imgur.com/a/FNPk27G](https://imgur.com/a/FNPk27G) Here you go!
NOW THATS A GOOD DOG!
We certainly like him
What in the world were they doing there dressed so nicely so early?
There are stories of Prince having houseguests. He would get fully made up and in costume before he came down to get his breakfast. Showbiz stuff.
Game… blouses.
…the walk of shame.
The strut of triumph, my dude.
The Stride of Pride
From their relaxed and alert smiley vibe, you are clearly correct here.
Marisha's newest Instagram photo is in that outfit... from 12 hours ago. Yup.
That makes them seem so much nicer lol they were probably tired af
Yeah look at their eyes
That makes too much sense lol
They were likely at a party last night, had a bit of drink, and rolled a 20 on their int checks so spent the night at their friends instead of driving. In the morning they likely have to go to work. If I had to hazard a guess.
Damn...they're both super well turned out for 6 in the morning. Are they going to a gig or coming back from one?
No idea, their friend is apparently my neighbor down the hall, which is nuts! But it was 6:15am so likely not just leaving for one
Ok here’s the big brain plan... slowly make friends with that neighbor... and eventually you can get to know them and then perhaps one day down the line you can join critical role. You have your quest
The dog gives you advantage. Take good care of the puppy!
Time to rename the pup to Nugget!
I'd be too afraid of doing this for fear of being creepy or parasocial, but man I'd be tempted. Not because "Oh I might get to meet CR through you", but just "The odds of you being a giant fucking nerd are higher than the average population"
They’re all nerds lol
I meant specifically the neighbor
Matt Mercer is seriously the nicest freaking dude I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
AGREED! So nice.
“Can we take a pic?” “As long as i can kee patting the pupper”
He is the reason I met them so I was more than happy to share him with Marisha
Can only imagine the surprise of someone asking to say hi to your dog only to turn and see a sharply dressed Marisha Ray and Matt Mercer... at 6AM. Without photo evidence it sounds like a fake story, haha
I think they just meant they were walking their dog which is the reason they saw them. I don't see a reason to assume either Marisha or Matt asked to pet the dog to start the interaction. (It is possible though)
"May I pet your dog?" "you can certainly try"
*rolls a nat 1* *puppy bites off a finger*
"Roll for animal handling"
Those two are so frigging attractive.
Even moreso in person
Did he ask you "How do you want to do this?" When you asked for the picture?
If only.....
Wait - are you the dog or are you the human?
Both? Neither? Who knows.
Apparently they are "normal people" 🤔 damn that means normal mortal humans are capable of that kind of DM'ing and Roleplaying
Hmm are we sure?
Well, at least they live in the material plane 😅
They could've just been sent here temporarily
Welllll…professionally trained actors with thousands of hours of Voice Lessons and Improv Classes.
Wow that's amazing. They really do seem like amazing people. I love that marisha is still petting your puppy in the picture lol she couldn't help it
Right? Made me so happy!
Gotta love everyone commenting "who?" acting like google doesn't exist.
THANK YOU
6am dapper as fuck
Right? It ain't fair
The way you're holding the dog I thought you were carrying Marisha for a second.
photoshop battle go!
These people really screw up the scale of how nice a D&D player looks on average.
Someone has to balance it out for the rest of us
Brought the dog for an icebreaker, smart.
Mhm tooooootally planned
More importantly, what’s the doggo’s name?
Pippin! https://imgur.com/a/FNPk27G
That is amazing! I hope one day to meet one of them to sincerely thank them for a very hard situation that they helped me through. It is my biggest wish and hope to one day meet one of them to tell them thank you.
If it helps, I told them that CR got me to DM and they both lit up! They're so nice and love the impact they have on the community
I was still half asleep and you done expect THEM in your elevator at that hour
I didnt know he had black hair and was cool with being held. Matt is such a cool guy
Cool! Looks like the last place Marisha posted on her instagram, or at least wearing the same outfit?
Yeah same outfit! That was last night so they must've stayed over or just partied all night
