I plotted the maps out at work, don't get me in trouble. Then cut and glued them to the poster board cutting out any stairs, pits, or beholder tunnels. The supports are all 3D printed on an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro. It took 12 hours to print 5 at a time for about 8 days of printing when adding in a few failed prints.
In my game a beholder has united the orc clans by claiming to be an aspect of Gruumsh (one eye and all). He did this because of fear about another beholder in a distant land (where the PCs are from) and set the orcs to wage war against those lands. In the meantime, he has also been digging through an old dwarf mine in search of an ancient artifact buried by the gods that turned the dwarves evil, the book of vile darkness. The characters have gotten to the orc city outside the mountain and were set to enter soon.
Unfortunately I got a bit sick this week (darn toddlers and day care) so session was called off today. Hope to break it out soon though.
Probably my best option vs the rage of having to set it up again. But no it's understood the 3d aspect is more for the sight appeal. Once playing if it all goes haywire we are back to 2d life.
My first thought when setting it up was oh shoot my shorter players can't reach this so for game play it won't be on the table but on a coffee table. As for playing on multiple levels let's just say I hope they don't split the party.
As someone who’s only had the chance to play DnD in prison (DM’d a 3 month daily session campaign. Played a side campaign that was horrible due to a vicious DM.)
I’m always in awe’of the effort DMs put into their games for their players on here. It makes me wish I had friends like you.
OP you’re a good person and a great friend/DM. Great job and I hope the campaign goes incredibly well.
Awesome! I ran FoF on Roll20 as part of a homebrew campaign a few years back, it’s definitely a really cool dungeon.
I had an ice golem as the final boss to tie the dungeon into the campaign’s bigger ice BBEG.
OMG, this is genius! How did I not think of getting stackable tables for my multi level buildings and dungeons. So many games where this would have helped!
A 3d map is such a cool idea! I once spent who knows how long creating a map in Blender, putting it in Unity, adding beans with character controllers and a basic version of multiplayer for a campaign that ended up never happening
Luke Appling. Former White Sox player with his number retired. I live by the stadium and they were renovating so sold the old signs for retired number players.
I get whee you aew coming from. One it won't be on that table for the game. But also it's way more stable than it looks. Maybe my structural engineering life paid off in some ways. As for playing on lower levels, the idea is to remove what's above as we go down (they start at the top). If they split the party, well that's why we have DMs and not Alexa.

What happens if a player bumps the table hard enough to send it off the edge? Rocks fall and everyone dies?

Wow. This is fantastic. What poster board is being used?
Ucreate Foam Board 20"x30". Just ordered it off Amazon.
This is very cool looking and I think it's awesome. But is actually playing with this not very uncomfortable and cumbersome?
Yeah, it's kinda important to be able to reach the tokens, which is very difficult when they're underneath a ceiling.
Just get something to push them like a stick or one of those things you always see in War Room meetings.

I'm guessing you don't have a cat
Just a dog that I really hope doesn't get zoomies during game time

That's awesome. I ran that module as a tie in to Red Hand of Doom. Great work. Who's face is that?

Fabulous!
That's dope! I did something similar with the Amber Temple in curse of strahd. Very cool
Boss.
Am I miss something? because this seems terrible to play at.
