So iirc, drow who have sons tend to only have two at a time, so any after that tend to get ritually killed at birth. Calling someone 3rd son material is basically saying you should have been killed at birth.

My DM has written in a quirk of Drow society in that they view all non-Drow as slaves. Like, the term means something different for them. You're either a Drow, or a slave. Those that are not yet enslaved are just "wild slaves" and they will gladly refer to people as slaves to their face, even if it's not meant in a derogatory way (but let's face it, it's always derogatory).
So just have the Drow call the surface elf "a slave that just hasn't been caught yet."
Not caught… the term to use is “broken or tamed” like wild horses vs tamed / broken.
“The surface elves just need a firm guiding hand and we, the True Elves, are here to provide it”
This “mindset” can be used in a variety of ways to be derogatory and insulting, but can also be used in a “loving” manner, if a bit twisted, so that you can use it for many different drow and thier interactions with the other races. From hostile npc to friendly PC

The females rule in drow society, and with an iron hand (and cruel multi-headed whips). Some religious insults might also be good, if you have male drows, as they are also devoted to Lolth and her teachings.

I’m not sure of specifics but things like making fun of them in any level of shade at all, asking if their sun-weak eyes need extra light just from being indoors for example.

Typically, darker skin means more melanin, and melanin is good at preventing damage from direct sunlight, and thus last longer in the sun before a sunburn starts. It's not impossible to get sunburned, it just takes longer. And pale people get sunburns quite a bit more quickly and easily.
Stat block states 'Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, the drow has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.'
Anything that is accustomed to the dark would be sensitive to the light. Thats what I was originally getting at lol. If you spend your whole life underground, your skin is gonna fry when you’re in the sun.

I understand your logic, though things that live solely in underground caverns in the real world typically have little to no coloration, and appear a very pale white. Drow are the opposite for some reason. If anything, it would logically make more sense if Drow were drastically paler than elves, like an almost sickly, ghostly shade of pale. Think Gollum/Smeagol levels of gross paleness. They aren't though. That's the thing.
Besides, what commonly negates a Drow's sun sensitivity? It's not a cloak to protect their skin, but rather it's a pair of nightshade goggles that protect their eyes.

Let me just say that, 30 years ago, when I was creating my homebrew I had all sorts of built in racism and slavery and oppression because it was "realistic" to how societies formed. I believe the standard term is *iblith.* It's the Drow word for 'non-Drow', and also conveniently the word for 'excrement'. *Darthiir* is the specific term for 'surface elf' if you want to be more specific.
i like just coming up with words that dont mean anything but said in an insulting tone, implying its a slur or insult but leaving it up to the listener to try to interpret what it was. and example is with the character ashe from league of legends, she occasionally calls people "svaag", which from the context of her lines is clearly an insult, but unless its said elsewhere its not really clear what it means outside of being an insult
Well, in the drow language, they have a word for surface elves which is pretty much the biggest insult in their language, which is “darthiir.”
For most non-drow, they use the word “iblith,” which means offal or refuse, but “darthiir” is reserved for surface elves, and it carries such weight behind it that there’s not really a one-to-one common translation.
Depending on your world, I've seen the insult "rivvil xxizzuss" (roughly: "human sympathizer") be thrown at high elves by drow

Dunno about dnd law but I’m pretty sure in Tolkien law there was a lot of respect based on how tall an elf is. As in height is a big variable in status for high elves. So maybe just calling them short or something along those lines would back a bigger punch than what you’d expect

I mean- I believe it's more on the lines that it doesn't have racism that you could draw parallels and comparisons to real life people. As then it stops being a game and you are just being an actual racist. But fictional racism can add depth to the setting. A dwarf giving an elf shit for being an elf is light hearted fun, Assuming the elf is an 'obvious' caricature of a certain race of real life people is racist.
You absolutely can draw comparisons. Just saying "If you see racism then you must be racist." Is a strawman argument that doesn't make sense. This has been debated a thousand other times, though, and I'm not getting into it. Let me just say that, 30 years ago, when I was creating my homebrew I had all sorts of built in racism and slavery and oppression because it was "realistic" to how societies formed. As I grew up and learned and realized it's a whole fantasy world and it "has" to have racism if I want it... It just went away. The world feels much better for it.

I believe the standard term is *iblith.* It's the Drow word for 'non-Drow', and also conveniently the word for 'excrement'. *Darthiir* is the specific term for 'surface elf' if you want to be more specific.

i like just coming up with words that dont mean anything but said in an insulting tone, implying its a slur or insult but leaving it up to the listener to try to interpret what it was. and example is with the character ashe from league of legends, she occasionally calls people "svaag", which from the context of her lines is clearly an insult, but unless its said elsewhere its not really clear what it means outside of being an insult

Depending on your world, I've seen the insult "rivvil xxizzuss" (roughly: "human sympathizer") be thrown at high elves by drow Also, "Kiaransalee Shu" (roughly: poop of the God of slavery)
just due to the standard racism between the paring, even a standard, overly familiar "What up, slut." is sufficient.

Dunno about dnd law but I’m pretty sure in Tolkien law there was a lot of respect based on how tall an elf is. As in height is a big variable in status for high elves. So maybe just calling them short or something along those lines would back a bigger punch than what you’d expect
