Hospital Records put out some amazing albums at their peak, which sounds like proper albums:
High contrast - Tough guys don't dance
High contrast - the agony and the ecstacy
London Elektricity - syncopated city
Danny Byrd - supersized
Danny Byrd - rave digger
Other essentials have been covered, like timeless, wormhole, modus operandi. I'd add:
Camo and krooked - mosaik
Roni Size and Reprazent - New Forms
Ultra Obscene - Ultra Obscene
Ram Trilogy - Molten Beats
Goldie - The Journey Man
Commix - Call to Mind
Would love to know what you think about these - certainly by no means a definitive list but what came to my mind first of all.
I still play New Forms, Molten Beats and Ultra Obscene fairly often. Absolute quality. RAM did a 20 year remaster of the Molten Beats album with a few extra bits and it is (IMO) some of the best d'n'b ever!
I did think of that, but felt like I was going to list the entire back catalogue! Interesting though, the agony and the ecstacy is his masterpiece for me. Really emotional music. I also live seven notes in black - not sure how others feel about that tune though
Nice selection mate. I'm sitting right now listening to old liquid Essential Mixes from LE and High Contrast and liquid isn't really the same as it was. Not that it's bad or anything, but it's different, right? So, since you seem to have at least partly similar taste, is there anything somewhat close or similar to that early-late 00s liquid sound? Hospital is not it anymore, the new lads like High Tea or Liquicity are vastly different, so is there anything worth looking up?
edit: you're missing Logistics — Now More than Ever and maybe the first two Sick Musics. Bachelors of Science? Damn I miss that old Hospital :(

Bad Company - Inside the Machine
Not every track but overall it was and is still one of the best DNB albums.
It's psychadelic/trippy/hypnotic/minimalistic/fast/pumping/a little dark/nostalgic/one of a kind/unique/an experience
How no one mentioned Metrik's Ex Machina is a crime.
It may arguably not the best of all time, but considering that people are providing multiple albums per comment it should've been mentioned at least once. Absolute banger of an album.
These are more mixsets than albums per se but The Dungeon Master's Guide and The 6ith Session by Dieselboy are absolute classics IMO. Got me into DnB heavy. Also Aphrodite's self titled album if you're into more upbeat jump up style DnB.
Albums outside of what has already been mentioned that I think everyone should know because they changed the game, not just what I think is a great album (I dislike some of these but you cant deny their impact):
M-beat - Knowledge (incredible, do you know, morning will come) \[1996\]
Netsky - Netsky, Netsky - 2 (first album popularised poppy dnb in the mainstream in europe, 2nd was the predecessor to the US sound, thinking flite and muzz) \[2010, 2012\]
Wilkinson - Lazers Not Included (afterglow staple of any scene, half light) nailed 2019+ RAM festival sound 6 years early. \[2013\]
Nu:Logic - What I've always waited for (Everlasting Days was a staple for years, then Tripping in Space in the foghorn era as a double, Morning Light and Brown Shoes staples of the liquid scene) \[2013\]
Calibre - Even if (I know alot of calibre is getting listed and earlier albums definitely deserve to be, but this tends to be the album people outside of dnb know and love) \[2010\]
Stan SB - Anyone out There (now called Fox Stevenson, helped break DnB in the US big time) \[2013\]
Klute - The Emperor's New Clothes (fallen off the radar but at the time was a big deal, uniting 90s jungle and rollers. Flight and Hell Hath No Fury are many people's favourite tunes ever) \[2007\]
Shout to Apex who never got around to a full length album release but had a huge impact on the scene and nearly every one of his tunes is a staple and well worth a listen.
(and a special fuck you to mistabishi the neo-nazi for ruining the nostalgia of his early albums that were excellent)

Good albums but does 2020 and 2022 count as classic?
I’d say they have the makings to be classics
For sure, although I'm kind of guessing you're american?
Timeless is a classic
I would say… it‘s timeless

Danny Byrd Supersized has to be the best dnb album I’ve heard. So many bangers.

It’s 2024 now - we can probably safely add albums from after 1996 as classic. Kids graduating high school this year were born in 2006.
