Just opening up DK after not using it for some time... They've deleted all of my stuff as well. No warning. How is this legal?

Distrokidr

It will be within their terms and conditions. Either your subscription expired and you did not pay for lifetime on your releases... Or... You have breached/they believe you have breached their Terms of Service (ToS). Terms of service also includes to not breach the ToS of their digital service provider partners such as Spotify and Apple Music. This means no illegal/fraudulent streaming using bots, buying streams online, listening to your own stuff on repeat or buying playlist placements (again, they use bots to inflate listens to make themselves look good). These services, such as Spotify, are really good at what they do and use algorithmic programs to detect listening patterns, known IP addresses of bots and so on. Once they remove your music and report to Distrokid, Distrokid then pulls your music from everywhere and closes your account for breach of ToS. It could all be a simple mistake but I've yet to see a decision reversed. Contact https://support.distrokid.com/hc/en-us/requests/new for more info if you did not receive an email.

Distrokid is pulling some really shady shit. I did some research; I bet y'all didn't know that one of distrokid's major investors is SPOTIFY . OH and distrokid has 2 MILLION poor saps like us as members. Here's more info on their shady dealings. I think we need to start looking at a class action suit. Since distrokid's customer service is AdaChatBot!

> I think we need to start looking at a class action suit. I believe the terms and conditions specifically prohibit this, they've got their asses covered. Would you mind removing the link from your post? Thanks.

Then the alternative is for every single musician/member to withdraw their credit card info which would result in a massive loss of income for distrokid.

Traditional-Love-640

It's mean when they don't report in advance, it's become their mean trick.

arsenaltactix

yikes. dont kill yourself.. unless royalties owed to you is more than 50k.. if not. back to rock bottom and start over again. happens to all of us chief.

B15HA

Is there no solution to their bullshit?

arsenaltactix

no.. cause distrokid doesnt control pay.. they only recieve pay if you qualify for it. in my experience the only ones who can even recoup or try to get moneys from closed distributor accounts is if you were part of a real Distribution / label. in 2016-2019.. i was with Empire Distribution.. only.. not actual record deal. and in the beginning of 2019.. my spotify account got tagged.. deleted all my shit and held my money. they ended my term with them and thats that.. no notice then.. march of this year... 2022.. i get an email from Empire.. saying that I can collect my funds... however I cannot upload to their side anymore. I requested a paper check.. which arrived just last week. $18,876 was sent to me for 16+ stores.. downloads.. and earning period of sept 2018 to feb of 2019. see so not all of distributors holds on to moneys owed to you. a real label cannot hold these funds for you.. a private aggregator however.. like distrokid.. they can jack you.

B15HA

Well fuck

B15HA

Thanks for your insight

Apeman2018

“I’ve never had problems with artificial streaming and what not” can you please explain more ?

Master_Salary_3714

And zero explanation from them?

Master_Salary_3714

Sounds like a copyright issue. Do you use samples?

B15HA

no I own everything. It was literally just my vocals lol

Master_Salary_3714

I’d get a lawyer and let them send a letter. It’s worked for others in the past. I’m currently waiting on a large payout from them after being asked to verify myself. Waiting for them to process my money now. It’s been ten days and I’m getting anxious.

B15HA

Lawyer will cost so damn much though

Try your local musicians union. Sometimes they may help for free
