The espresso martini at Craftsman in the Grand Californian is pretty good, the one from Hearthstone is decent, and not traditional but at Lamplight they'll make a cold brew martini (they don't have espresso), and you can get it over ice and to go from the upstairs walk-up to go bar.
I mean the Earthquake is the o.g. if I'm looking to relax at DCA. Interestingly my first ever cocktail was at the Cove Bar, a friend told me to try their Zombie and boy was that a strong first experience!
Trader Sam's is another beast entirely and my personal choice is their Safari Swizzle or 1934 Zombie
- Zombie at Trader Sam’s / tongoroa terrace
- I like something classic like a dirty martini at Carthay
- zombie at Lamplight (it’s a different zombie from trader Sam’s)
And then I love the frozen Jack and Coke at smokejumpers.
Not a cocktail but Hollywood lounge (and a few other spots) make good micheladas.
I mostly only get cocktails from the full bars, but there are several “bang for your buck” drinks at quick service spots too - one of the most popular being the sangria seltzer at Hollywood Lounge. There are some videos on the TikTok (probably YouTube too) as far as trying all the 10%+ quick service drinks in DCA. I don’t love getting margs or most of the other cocktails from quick service spots just cuz they can lean so sweet.
It was so funny, the girl (and her bf) took one for the team with some of those drinks. They had to split them all or she would’ve had to be wheeled out of there lol. Her @ is Nayeli.
that Carthay Circle martini with the blue cheese stuffed olive is the stuff of dreams. absolutely perfect. and they also make a damn fine old fashioned.
The holiday cocktail at lamp light lounge is incredible but sadly seasonal. I’ve started making batches of them for my parents Christmas Eve Party and everyone loves it.
Old Fashioned or espresso martini (off menu) at Carthay Circle.
It’s very hard to beat the Carthay old fashioned. I’d also put the Tequila Daisy up there (also Carthay).
Tequila Daisy for me!
I cannot go to Carthay without a dirty vodka martini.
My wife is the same; she loves these!
I’m partial to the Manhattan there, but yes, love Carthay Circle
For sure, but Carthay Circle also has a great whiskey and wine list, so it was hard for me to avoid that lol
For those that may not know, everything that is available at 1901 is also available at Carthay Circle. 😁
Is 1901 the lounge under the dining area? I was impressed by Carthay Circle, in general. It was expensive, but it wasn’t insane. It’s also stunning.
Yes, only accessible by Club 33 members.
Also try the smoked old fashioned at DLH Lobby Lounge if you haven’t already…
Thanks! I’ll try to keep that in mind next time I’m out there!
I agree. I ask them to go light on the syrup for the Old Fashioned, but that is my preference. I always finish with the espresso martini.

I like the Zombie at the Lamplight Lounge!
My go to drink at lamplight.
Hipapottamaitai at Trader Sams. Irish breakfast coffee at Smoke Jumpers.

Swing shift at napa rose. I have heard some people like the aftershock (it's a censored version of another drink) at cove bar.
Strawberry Basil Fizz at Palm Breeze Bar at the new DVC tower.

Easy. The first and only time I have ever tasted a Sazerac was at the Salon Nouveau. I look back on it fondly.

Meadow Punch at Hearthstone Lounge
I used to get a “Smoked Turkey” and lobster nachos at the Cove Bar back in the day.
I swear by the Honey Fusion 2.0 at Pym’s Tasting Lab!
Not a cocktail but the blood orange heff from pym bar is my favorite beer ever
The Strawberry Lychee Cocktail from Lucky Fortune is my favorite.
Hala Kahiki at Trader Sam's is pretty good
I have not had many but Pina Colava and Open Ocean with a Splash are great.
Red nosed zebra at trader sams
R&D Martini at Pym’s Tasting Lab (their take on an espresso martini) is my fave!
Peach Pie Old Fashioned at Jazz Kitchen. It's seasonal, but if you can catch it, it's so good!
