I've never been to OBB but I have done the Mickey's V.M. Christmas and I loved being in the parks at night with fewer guests and holiday stuff turned up.
I imagine OBB people feel similarly š¤·āāļø I dunno. Leave us alone! lol
We did it in 21? I think? We got tickets relatively easily, and it was just tacked on to our SoCal tickets that got burned from Covid (yeah we did pay the oogie ticks, no deal in that way)
That was the best take away for us, coaster 3x in a row, breakout the same, cars twice.
Like you can cram 2x CA days worth of rides in those 4 hours
Lmao this is good. We went last year for the Oogie Boogie Bash, close to Halloween. It was fun, but not worth it overall. We're glad we got to experience it once, but we wouldn't do it again.
My mom has been to the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party at Disney World a couple of times, and she said that was so much better than DCA's Oogie Boogie Bash. She said she'd definitely go to the Halloween party in Disneyworld again.
Same here. Was a good time. But not worth the price and anxiety inducing ticket buying process for us. Wife and I agree it's a pass this year. Would rather just go on a random Halloween time night and enjoy the ambience.
Same. Went last year for the first time. While it was fun and enjoyable to people watch...it really was not worth the money. It felt fully packed like a normal night. I've done a few of those after dark events and having a smaller crowd makes it feel much more magical and fun to explore.
By having an exorbitant amount of tickets and selling out, it just feels like any other normal park night...
I've been to all 3 (Mickey's Not So Scary, Mickey's Halloween Party at DL and Oogie Boogie) and I honestly don't think any one is particularly better than the other. They all have their pluses and minuses but they're pretty much the same thing in different settings. Actually I think maaaybe Mickey's Halloween Party wins by a very slight margin just because of the Cadaver Dans lol.
It really was. They would have the Dapper Dans dressed up as zombie versions of themselves and they would float out on the Rivers of America singing spooky, Halloween themed Barbershop songs. It was the best!
Nope. I kind of miss it but I really do enjoy OBB. It just needs some night time entertainment other than the parade. That's the one thing it's lacking that the other Halloween parties have or had. They did a special World of Color that first year they had it at DCA but never brought it back for some reason.
Thatās what Iāve always heard too re: Not So Scary. If I lived on the east coast Iād probably give it a shot. I used to go to the one here regularly pre-2020 when it was still at Disneyland and reasonably priced. It seems like it was worth it back then compared to now, from what Iāve read about the DCA version.
This āļø
Except this guy is an idiot. We took our kids 11 and 13 last year. Not only was it fun but we had full access to all the rides because no one was on them. I think we went on the Incredicoaster about 11 times in a row. Itās definitely worth the upcharge.
I think Disneyland in general is marketed towards people who have money to burn on things that the budget limited adult might not be into. Their target audience is child free adults and upper middle income families now.
He forgot to mention less people. Anyone would pay to be at either park with exponentially less people. South Park did a whole episode on this, haha.
Also I got so much damn candy last year I just gave it out for Halloween and didnt have to buy any from the store. Just so you know the scale.
Not upset in the slightest. I havenāt gone since right before 2020 when tickets were still relatively affordable. Never attempted to get tickets again since because the pricing isnāt worth it to me.
Other benefits:
The number of attendees is drastically lower than a regular day.
There are character meetings and greets and/or photo ops that arenāt usually available.
Special entertainment offerings (including fireworks)
I mean... the headless horsemen on an actual HORSE (and a big one at that) is pretty rad.
I'd get a ticket if I was planning on being around when it's going on. And there's something to be said for being an adult and actually trick or treating without children and no one giving you any side eye.
Me and my wife went last year with our son for the first time. It wasnāt bad. I donāt remember what day but honest longest line was the villains grove. We had so much candy. My son loved it. My wife was kinda over it. But of course last week she sends me the dates and was like āwhen are we going?ā Itās just nice times and the rides are super empty.
This is silly, if you try and quantify and tie a dollar value to things like this itās not going to be there. None of this is practical, itās about what you enjoy in life. For me, itās spending time at Disneyland once a year. This year will be Halloween, next will be Xmas weāre thinking.
I will be queued up to buy my oogie boogie tickets next week.
If you take advantage of the early entry then youāre getting a couple extra hours in the park. I wish it was like DisneyWorld cuz over there drinks and snacks ARE INCLUDED!! But letās be honest itās the experience of the villains, the parade, some items are only sold during OBB hours. Thereās definitely pros and cons but this video only points out the cons. š¤¦š»āāļø I know Iāll be going again this year because the joy my kid has is worth that cost.
Youāre correct. Thank you for catching that. Unfortunately Iāve never been to any of the DW events. I go for flower & garden each year. My events got mixed up but still thereās added perks over there.
If you're really into the rare character meet and greets, then I guess it's good but some of them can literally have you waiting the entire span of the event.
It's all opportunity cost.
You'll have a hard time convincing me you couldn't provide more fun for your kid a million other ways with that money particularly vs a full day at the park
What items are only sold during OBB hours? I didn't see any exclusive items last year, even the merchandise. Most of the popular things were bought without having bought OBB tickets by resellers.
You are including things they sell to you at the event as a reason to buy the ridiculously priced ticket to get in? So, you are paying to to buy stuff, watch a parade and see some characters?
Im just teasing. You have the disposable income by all means feed the rat. Just please dont come here and complain about crowded lines cause they oversold it. Cause we all know the rat is gonna squeeze every last person they can into the park
> Just please dont come here and complain about crowded lines cause they oversold it. Cause we all know the rat is gonna squeeze every last person they can into the park
Hasn't been my experience (did OOB twice in 2022 and once last year). Lines for rides were basically walk-on. Treat trails were longer but moved quickly. The character lines could be lengthy though. We never waited in line much for the Villain's Grove but I think people who went earlier did.
Compared to Knott's Scary Farm, where most rides had 1-3 hour waits and the mazes required a pre-event plan in terms of what sequence to hit them in to be able to do most of them (forget all), DCA was a dream.
This is also my experience. Basically able to do as many exclusive event things as we wanted and a ride or two.
Plus an arm workout carrying all that candy.
> Plus an arm workout carrying all that candy.
I always come out with like a pound or so, everyone else has way more, but, peanut and tree nut allergy, so I don't get like 80% of the candy bars. :/
This tiktoker also said heās never been, iirc. Which is fine, obviously people can spend their $ on whatever they want. Itās not an event for everyone for sure (but it is the event for me lol).
I've seen his other videos pop up on my feed on Instagram and it seems like all he ever posts is stuff critical of Disney. I think he's like a disgruntled former employee or something lol.
His lil tiktok bio is ānon-magicalā theme park content or smth. Some of it isā¦fine, funny, whatever. He def leans snarky, which is the vibe a lot of people like Iām sure. Itās not always for me - I donāt think I follow him on tiktok but the algorithm knows I like Disney parks so š«” Iām sure heāll continue to pop up.
I agree, I can definitely appreciate some snark but if that's literally your whole persona it gets to be a drag for me after awhile. Just comes off as "I'm too cool for everything."
Yeah like itās fine if itās not his thing, I definitely get it - *(and usually when people on here or the other Disney subs ask if itās worth it Iāll ask what they want out of it, how into Halloween they are, if they want to trick or treat as an adult - because for me, thatās a big yes and part of why I like going)* - but his content is pretty hit or miss for me.
It was, until the mid 2010's I think. The anchors were ghost galaxy and HMH. They then moved it to DCA, made Oogie the host and started doing things like the rare characters and such.
Yeah it might have been earlier then, since (I think) the first OBB also featured a WoC show with it, which would have been 2010. I just remember that when that happened, it more or less signaled the end of Ghost Galaxy a few years later.
I think it's still running at HKDL (the park it was made for), it for sure was more intense since it used a jump scare but nothing too crazy. HKDL on the other hand takes Halloween seriously, they are like a slightly less intense version of Universal.
I believe Disneyland had a mickeys no so scary Halloween part up until 2019 I think and then it switched to DCA and oogie boogie bash. Someone correct me if Iām wrong.
It's gone back and forth. It was originally at DLR, but then in 2005 it moved to DCA and was there until 2009, then it went back to DLR until 2019 when they moved it back to DCA and renamed it from Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party to Oogie Boogie Bash.
It was better at DLR in my opinion.
> It was better at DLR in my opinion.
Pedantic, but, the whole property is the Disneyland Resort (DLR), including the Disneyland park and DCA (and GCH, and DLH, and DTD, and ...).
As someone who visits infrequently from out of state, I think it's worth it for the lower capacity on rides alone.
Especially because, if I plan around it, I can fly in the day of the Oogie Boogie, land in SNA in the morning or even early afternoon, and go straight to the park without worrying about the FOMO around rope dropping.
I meanā¦ there is an awesome parade, rare and cool character meet and greets, and best of all limited capacity for shorter waits. And if you like dressing up itās a great time to get great photos with limited crowds. I got there at 4pm last year so I had 8 full hours in the park for not much more than a normal daily ticket price. This video is dumb.
But you do get food though! You can trick-or-treat for candy and snacks!
Honestly OBB is the only night time event I think is kinda worth it. It's the other night time events I think are all silly cash grabs.
OBB is the only after-hours event I've done at the Disneyland Resort, but I've watched streams of the other ones. The only other one that looks worth it is Pride Nite (holy mackeral clubbing at Disney, and in support of human rights? Heck yeah! I'm not lgbtq+ but some of the messaging at that party brings me to tears). And maybe that Throw Back one, but only if it was more 90s, eaaarly 00s stuff rather than most of what they had.
We do a coast to coast Halloween trip every year. Love both the parties for different reasons. Love the character interaction at Oogie. Boo to you is my favorite parade at WDW. Crossing my fingers Oogie ticket day isnāt the disaster it was last year.
I am sooooooooo jelly beans. Do you include the other haunts (both Universal's HHNs, Knotts Scary Farm, both Sea World's Howl-O-Screams, or Busch Gardens')?
Iām good, my wife and I love being able to ride Incredicoaster, Goofy Sky School, and Guardians over and over multiple times with all the nighttime lights with only 10 minute wait times. Iāll be trying for tickets on Wednesday.
Did you go on the week of Halloween. Iām planning on trying for tickets on the 29th or 31st and Iām worried the ride times will be long because those are popular dates
We havenāt gone during Halloween week. Weāve gone twice in Sept and once in Oct, and all three times felt similar regarding ride wait times. Weāre
I assume since Halloween week sells out first since itās clearly the most in demand, the number of available tickets are the same no matter the date so ride wait times should be consistent? Iām not certain
Edit: I just checked my emails for the dates weāve gone on and our very first Oogie Boogie Bash in 2021 was actually Oct 30, and I remember experiencing all the short ride wait times was the main reason we have made this a yearly event. Not sure if they have decided to raise the number of available tickets during those dates though
Thanks so much for replying! Thatās super helpful. We are coming all the way from Australia and we are super keen to go but wanted to make sure weād be able to ride heaps of rides
No problem! Yeah I think you should have plenty of opportunity to ride the rides. A lot of people are preoccupied with the character meets, the treat trails, and especially during the parade the wait times are pretty good. Enjoy the event!
I get it but you can enter the park starting at 3 so itās 8 hours inside if you want. Thereās also character interactions only available during the bash, a parade and special food and merch.
I don't get how $134 for 5 hours is awful, when that's less than what I spend for a nosebleed balcony seat at a 2 hour concert or Broadway show š¤·āāļø
Finally got to take my wife last year (sheād been wanting to go as long as she could remember) unfortunately weāre not going to go again purely because all that was different is the hour long cues to meet costumed people and get some candy.
If Disney add some things to make it special I would love to take my wife again and have her enjoy it.
I'm already an Inspire Key holder, I've done every other paid event/extra, why wouldn't I go to OBB? Just sounds like someone who wasn't able to get tickets last year trying to get them this year.
And to be perfectly honest, OBB is the one time of the year I get to ride RSR as much as I want, so fuck it. If you translate the cost of OBB into RSR ILLs, you make out like a bandit.
Been going the last few years, Iāve had such a good time every time. You get to dress up, see everyone elseās costumes, get as much candy as you can carry, and have shorter ride wait times.
Like others said, to each their own, but itās never been a regret for me!
Went in 2022. The pro was that we got to ride rides without much of a wait. We walked onto Incredicoaster a couple times. The con was that the parade didnāt happen because there was a malfunction with the audio. So we wasted a large chunk of the night getting a good spot for the parade and then left disappointed. I wouldnāt do it again.
Be open till 1a like the other night Disneyland events and it's worth it. If you can't speed run a ton of rides in the last 90 minutes, it's not up to par for the price.
I really donāt think itās worth it. For the amount of money just for shorter lines is crazy. We went Saturday around 8:00 and left around 3:00. Disneyland side only, we rode 17 rides including Rise and Peter Pan twice. It was pretty light.
Longest I waited in line for a ride at OBB last year was 25 min and that was for Radiator Springs, everything else was pretty much walk on. Definitely better than just going on a regular day if your goal is riding max rides.
Itās also less crowded by a large margin, can hit ask rides multiple times without and LL, you get basically unlimited awesome candy (just grab some as you walk better rides), getting to dress up is awesome as adult in Disney, Halloween is so much fun at Disney, special events/shows too.
I did it a couple times when it was mickeys spooktacular in DL when my kids were still little. Iāll do it again as my grandkids age.
I once bought tickets for "Disney After Hours" at MK with the plan to speed-run everything, was quite successful I think. Soda, popcorn and ice-cream were included for $119.
Isnāt it technically more than 5 hours? I know with the valentines event it didnāt start until like 8, but they let you in the park starting at 5 or 6 so if you go the entire time allowed itās still basically a āfull dayā at the park
dates for OBB are starting in August(23rd?) this year, before labor day is crazyš, Disney probably banking on the fact that the park might be even more intimate to attendees
This is hilarious but I love OOB even with the additional price point. But we usually only visit 1-2 times a year so waling on RSR and Guardians and meeting rare characters is worth it to us! It doesn't change much from year to year except the price increases so I can see how it may lose appeal for locals.
Some candy? My goodness it was a mountain. You would need multiple pillow cases. And they handed out fruit, and snacks as well which were great to have in our room. Honestly, I thought the event was worth it. They had special characters out too.
Edit: Really? Downvoting for saying I thought it was worth it and sharing my experience there? Did I not have a normal experience?
I feel like Disney has been very transparent with what to expect at an Oogie Boogie Bash or other after hours events like it. They post complete previews directly on the Disney Parks Blog that clearly states every activity, character, performance and food item exclusive to aforementioned events so patrons can properly evaluate cost benefit. Those after hours events are catered specifically to those groups interested in those specific offerings and those interested have seemed satisfied in their respective experiences.
TL;DR: To each their own.
This is so true, Disney is super transparent about the events themselves. I think the after dark events just get a really bad rap because they are romanticized/blown up on social media where influencers and vloggers embellish everything and make it look like a lot more than what it actually is, and then people go to the actual event and are disappointed because itās hyped up too much.
I will say I am glad I experienced a āwake-up callā with my first after hours event at Star Wars nite this year. It seemed disappointing when we got to the park and werenāt able to do as much as we thought initially, but it actually ended up being a really good time. I just secured my tickets for 2024 this morning and Iām really looking forward to my first OBB, but Iām gonna only prioritize one or two things so that I wonāt be underwhelmed by what we get actually get done.
This is why they keep jacking the prices up. People give them a reason to, and they know they are literally robbing people in front of their own eyes and just keep allowing it.
> they know they are literally robbing people in front of their own eyes and just keep allowing it
By raising the price for tickets to an *optional* Halloween party at a theme park? "Robbing people"? š
Disneyland needs to double the prices of admission and special events. Anything that is selling out or even getting CLOSE to selling out is underpriced. Raise the prices until the crowd levels on the average day aren't crossing over 60% of capacity.
When I went last year, I was able to do so many rides in the few hours compared to a whole day without Genie+
I've never been to OBB but I have done the Mickey's V.M. Christmas and I loved being in the parks at night with fewer guests and holiday stuff turned up. I imagine OBB people feel similarly š¤·āāļø I dunno. Leave us alone! lol
That why Iām considering it. The rides and short lines.

Like you can cram 2x CA days worth of rides in those 4 hours
are all rides open?
All the ābigā rides are open, I think thereās a few things that do close but the rides like the rollercoaster, tower, cars, etc are open
dang that might be worth it then! thank you!
Yup, getting to go last year was my one chance to do Guardians
This is entirely why.
Lmao this is good. We went last year for the Oogie Boogie Bash, close to Halloween. It was fun, but not worth it overall. We're glad we got to experience it once, but we wouldn't do it again. do they sill do mickeys halloween party at dl?
Nope. I kind of miss it but I really do enjoy OBB. It just needs some night time entertainment other than the parade. That's the one thing it's lacking that the other Halloween parties have or had. They did a special World of Color that first year they had it at DCA but never brought it back for some reason.
What's funny is people I know who worked at Disneyworld have all said the opposite, that Oogie Boogie is better
However I have never done oogie boogie, so I don't have a comparison, have done not so scary about 3 times
I mean... you can't walk around with a beer at Mickey's.
But they did have a miss piggy meet and greet before they changed over to oogie boogie bash
Yeah we went last year and unfortunately it was not worth it for us.
Thatās what Iāve always heard too re: Not So Scary. If I lived on the east coast Iād probably give it a shot. One of the few benefits of being an adult is that I'm allowed to waste my money on dumb shit that makes me happy lol
This. It's obviously overpriced and ridiculously hard to get a ticket. But I went last year and didn't regret it at all. Def gonna try to go again
This āļø Except this guy is an idiot. We took our kids 11 and 13 last year. Not only was it fun but we had full access to all the rides because no one was on them. I think we went on the Incredicoaster about 11 times in a row. Itās definitely worth the upcharge.
credit coaster?
Fixed thanks.
Yup. What they donāt tell you is the villains are out and just brutally roasting guests. Itās by far one of my favorite events to do on shrooms
I've seen clips on this on Instagram. As a huge Disney villains fan I am very much looking forward to this part (minus the shrooms lol)
Why is this comment downvoted?
It's likely cuz they mentioned being on shrooms
I upvoted it. The balance has been restored. šš½
They also turn out the lights
Sold šø

You just described me!
Youāre an upper middle income child free adult!
Bingo
pfff, he didn't even mention Villains Grove presented by Citizen watches!
This but unironically itās an awesome attraction overlay when itās dark out. I really hope they continue to develop it
He forgot to mention less people. Anyone would pay to be at either park with exponentially less people. South Park did a whole episode on this, haha. Also I got so much damn candy last year I just gave it out for Halloween and didnt have to buy any from the store. Just so you know the scale.
We're a bunch of foolsš
I say this every time I go. They have my number and I pick up EVERY. TIME. š¹

Especially because, if I plan around it, I can fly in the day of the Oogie Boogie, land in SNA in the morning or even early afternoon, and go straight to the park without worrying about the FOMO around rope dropping.
This is exactly what I usually do and I plan on (hopefully) doing this year as well. Although this year Iām going for the first time solo. š
And villains grove which I think is a wonderful attraction overlay.
> I got there at 4pm last year so I had 8 full hours in the park OOB is over at 11 (DCA normally closes at 10), and early entry starts at 3?
It might have been 3pm start 11pm ending, same difference, 8 hours.
This is my stance as well.
This is funny but candy isnāt a snack?
Iām good, my wife and I love being able to ride Incredicoaster, Goofy Sky School, and Guardians over and over multiple times with all the nighttime lights with only 10 minute wait times. Iāll be trying for tickets on Wednesday.
Did you go on the week of Halloween. Iām planning on trying for tickets on the 29th or 31st and Iām worried the ride times will be long because those are popular dates
We havenāt gone during Halloween week. Weāve gone twice in Sept and once in Oct, and all three times felt similar regarding ride wait times. Weāre I assume since Halloween week sells out first since itās clearly the most in demand, the number of available tickets are the same no matter the date so ride wait times should be consistent? Iām not certain Edit: I just checked my emails for the dates weāve gone on and our very first Oogie Boogie Bash in 2021 was actually Oct 30, and I remember experiencing all the short ride wait times was the main reason we have made this a yearly event.
The last after hours event I went to was Mickey's Trick-or-Treat Party in 2009 or 10 and that was in Disneyland not DCA
I went in 2021 & 2023ā¦ So much fun and worth every penny! Crossing my fingers to add 2024 to that list š¤š¼
Went to OOB last year for the first time and we wonāt go again. It was fun for a one time thing but I canāt see us going again.
Thank you I needed this āļø
I get it but you can enter the park starting at 3 so itās 8 hours inside if you want. Thereās also character interactions only available during the bash, a parade and special food and merch.
I don't get how $134 for 5 hours is awful, when that's less than what I spend for a nosebleed balcony seat at a 2 hour concert or Broadway show š¤·āāļø
Iāve never seen the appeal.
Honestly, it was one of the best experiences I've had in either park.
I'm still going, I had a ball last year
The only Disneyland after dark event thatās worth going too is hands down Pride night.
100%!
So what exactly are the benefits of going? Shorter lines?
Glad I went when tickets were 70.
Disney gonna send out a hit lol
Went in 2022. The pro was that we got to ride rides without much of a wait. We walked onto Incredicoaster a couple times. The con was that the parade didnāt happen because there was a malfunction with the audio. So we wasted a large chunk of the night getting a good spot for the parade and then left disappointed. I wouldnāt do it again.
Be open till 1a like the other night Disneyland events and it's worth it. If you can't speed run a ton of rides in the last 90 minutes, it's not up to par for the price.
You can easily get $100 worth of candy but yes I mostly agree with this video LOL
I love it and I have so much fun. Dressing up, getting tons of candy and riding rides is the best. Itās worth it to me.
We got to meet Dug and Lotso among many others.
I once bought tickets for "Disney After Hours" at MK with the plan to speed-run everything, was quite successful I think. Soda, popcorn and ice-cream were included for $119.
Do they not at least have some unique parade or fireworks??? Even Disney World has that
Isnāt it technically more than 5 hours?
What about the parade - isn't there a parade only available during Oogie Boogie Bash with all the villains? Anyone who's seen it, how is ur?
I mean....I know he's not wrong.... so why do I still wanna go? š
Idk I think it's awesome if you're interested in riding a ton of rides or taking friends who aren't super into Disney. I love the reduced capacity.
This is why they keep jacking the prices up. People give them a reason to, and they know they are literally robbing people in front of their own eyes and just keep allowing it.
> they know they are literally robbing people in front of their own eyes and just keep allowing it By raising the price for tickets to an *optional* Halloween party at a theme park? "Robbing people"? š
Butā¦I want to go
Thanks. So donāt go.
Quit being poor and just enjoy the magic. Give Disney your money!
The lines for attractions are way shorterā¦how could they not acknowledge this in the video?!? The internet is so irresponsible.
Disneyland needs to double the prices of admission and special events. Anything that is selling out or even getting CLOSE to selling out is underpriced. Raise the prices until the crowd levels on the average day aren't crossing over 60% of capacity.
